A user-adaptive privacy-preserving authentication of IoMT using zero knowledge proofs with ECC

The Internet of Things (IoT) has developed into a crucial component for meeting the connection needs of the current smart healthcare systems. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) consists of medical devices that are connected to patients in order to sense their medical parameters and exchange that information with healthcare professionals so they can deliver remote healthcare services. The need to protect the patient’s private information from being misused makes IoMT security an urgent issue that merits further study. Elliptic Curve cryptography (ECC), a popular substitute for traditional public key encryption like RSA, has several advantages. ECC is a prime contender for implementation on constrained devices with confined memory and speed, as well as wireless communication protocols that use low power like IoMT environment. The economic complexity of the current security protocols makes them inappropriate, hence new security protocols must be developed for resource-constrained and diverse IoT networks. This work suggests an authenticated key agreement protocol for the IoMT that is based on elliptic curve encryption based zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) protocols. The proposed mechanism completes in order of milliseconds up to 300 ms for 160 bits. The research will include the comparison between computational delays in traditional protocols and ZKP-ECC protocol. This paper provides a protocol to obtain privacy of data in IoMT environment on the basis of zero knowledge phenomenon and anonymous communication by ZKP-ECC. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Research on lightweight pavement disease detection model based on YOLOv7

Rapid urbanization has made road construction and maintenance imperative, but detecting road diseases has been time-consuming with limited accuracy. To overcome these challenges, we propose an efficient YOLOv7 road disease detection model. Our approach involves integrating MobilieNetV3 as the backbone feature extraction network to reduce the network's parameters and computational requirements. Additionally, we introduce the BRA attention module into the spatial pyramid pooling module to eliminate redundant information and enhance the network's feature representation capability. Moreover, we utilize the F-ReLU activation function in the backbone network, expanding the convolutional layers' receptive field range. To optimize the model's boundary loss, we employ the Wise-IoU loss function, which places more emphasis on the quality of ordinary samples and enhances the overall performance and generalization ability of the network. Experimental results demonstrate that our improved detection algorithm achieves a higher recall rate and mean average precision (mAP) on the public dataset (RDD) and the NJdata dataset in Nanjing's urban area. Specifically, compared to YOLOv7, our model increases the recall rate and mAP on RDD by 3.3% and 2.6%, respectively. On the NJdata dataset, our model improves the recall rate and mAP by 1.9% and 1.3%, respectively. Furthermore, our model reduces parameter and computational requirements by 30% and 22.5%, respectively, striking a balance between detection accuracy and speed. In conclusion, our road disease detection model presents an effective solution to address the challenges associated with road disease detection in urban areas. It offers improved accuracy, efficiency, and generalization capabilities compared to existing models. © 2024 - IOS Press. All rights reserved.

Dynamic Hand Gesture-Based Person Identification Using Leap Motion and Machine Learning Approaches

Person identification is one of the most vital tasks for network security. People are more concerned about theirsecurity due to traditional passwords becoming weaker or leaking in various attacks. In recent decades, fingerprintsand faces have been widely used for person identification, which has the risk of information leakage as a resultof reproducing fingers or faces by taking a snapshot. Recently, people have focused on creating an identifiablepattern, which will not be reproducible falsely by capturing psychological and behavioral information of a personusing vision and sensor-based techniques. In existing studies, most of the researchers used very complex patternsin this direction, which need special training and attention to remember the patterns and failed to capturethe psychological and behavioral information of a person properly. To overcome these problems, this researchdevised a novel dynamic hand gesture-based person identification system using a Leap Motion sensor. Thisstudy developed two hand gesture-based pattern datasets for performing the experiments, which contained morethan 500 samples, collected from 25 subjects. Various static and dynamic features were extracted from the handgeometry. Randomforest was used to measure feature importance using the Gini Index. Finally, the support vectormachinewas implemented for person identification and evaluate its performance using identification accuracy. Theexperimental results showed that the proposed system produced an identification accuracy of 99.8% for arbitraryhand gesture-based patterns and 99.6% for the same dynamic hand gesture-based patterns. This result indicatedthat the proposed system can be used for person identification in the field of security.

Activity and motion recognition using Wi-Fi signals,mainly channel state information(CSI),has captured the interest of many researchers in recent *** research studies have achieved splendid results with the help of machine learning models from different applications such as healthcare services,sign language translation,security,context awareness,and the internet of ***,most of these adopted studies have some shortcomings in the machine learning algorithms as they rely on recurrence and convolutions and,thus,precluding smooth sequential ***,in this paper,we propose a deep-learning approach based solely on attention,i.e.,the sole Self-Attention Mechanism model(Sole-SAM),for activity and motion recognition using Wi-Fi *** Sole-SAM was deployed to learn the features representing different activities and motions from the raw CSI *** were carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed Sole-SAM *** experimental results indicated that our proposed system took significantly less time to train than models that rely on recurrence and convolutions like Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)and Recurrent Neural Network(RNN).Sole-SAM archived a 0.94%accuracy level,which is 0.04%better than RNN and 0.02%better than LSTM.

Face Detection Based on Improved Multi-task Cascaded Convolutional Neural Networks

With the development of deep learning and computer vision, face detection has achieved rapid progress owing. Face detection has several application domains, including identity authentication, security protection, media, and entertainment. Although multi-task cascaded convolutional neural networks (MTCNN) have high accuracy and robustness, the model has the disadvantages of large parameters and computational overhead in the real scene due to the complexity of the real scene and the constraints of hardware facilities. Therefore, the development of an improved network model is crucial. This paper improves the MTCNN model by reducing the number of parameters and the computational overhead and using better model parameters to locate the key points of the face. This model improves the accuracy and robustness of the face age estimation. The WiderFace and CelebA datasets are used for training. The final face detection accuracy reaches 98.7% while simultaneously reducing the number of model parameters to 70% under the same conditions. This model meets the application needs of modern society for face detection and demonstrates the efficiency and accuracy of the improved network model. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). DedupChain: A secure Blockchain-enabled Storage System with Deduplication for Zero-Trust Network

Permissioned blockchain is a promising methodology to build zero-trust storage foundation with trusted data storage and sharing for the zero-trust network. However, the inherent full-backup feature of the permissioned blockchain poses potential data privacy risks and substantial storage costs, hindering its usage as a storage medium. These issues necessitate the usage of secure data deduplication technology to mitigate them. Unfortunately, current secure data deduplication schemes are predominantly designed with centralized cloud servers in mind and are not suitable for distributed blockchain systems. The reason is that the full backup feature of the permissioned blockchain renders a wide attack surface to offline brute-force and frequency analysis attacks. In response, we propose DedupChain, a secure blockchain-enabled storage system with deduplication for zero-trust networks. DedupChain employs a trusted execution environment (i.e., Inter SGX enclave) in conjunction with Oblivious RAM (ORAM) to offer a novel security guarantee named oblivious data deduplication, which empowers DedupChain with the ability to defend offline brute-force and frequency analysis attacks. DedupChain also proposes several novel techniques to address the security and efficiency issues raised by the SGX enclave. We implemented a system prototype of DedupChain and evaluated its performance metrics. Our experimental results show that DedupChain exhibits satisfactory operational delays, throughput, and storage overhead. Security analysis shows that DedupChain is robust enough to withstand several types of attacks. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to apply secure data deduplication techniques to address data privacy and storage cost issues raised by permissioned blockchain when used as a zero-trust storage medium. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

Emerging technologies of Agriculture 4.0 such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and 5G network services are being rapidly deployed to address smart farming implementation-related concerns and to fulfill the increasing food demand of the expanding demographics. Adoption of 5G offers numerous benefits including Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) required to reduce communication delays in time-sensitive applications, non-public networks to allocate part of the frequency spectrum on demand, and network slicing to fulfill the diverse requirements requested by a specific application etc. for realizing the full potential of Agriculture 4.0 operations. In this paper, a comprehensive review of 5G radio enhancements, enabling technologies, and multi-tier heterogeneous 5G network architecture are presented. The main focus is to concisely cover AI integration with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) leveraging 5G technologies and Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) for supporting intelligent, long-range, cost-effective and energy-saving data transmission across the network and seamless Agriculture 4.0 operations. Cloud computing architectures that permit centralized management of Agriculture 4.0 operations through sharing of computations, configurable networks, and servers are also studied in detail to reveal the need for edge computation as increasing number of IoT devices allows only to perform complex computations on-site. Enhancing aviation safety: Machine learning for real-time ADS-B injection detection through advanced data analysis

Airplanes play a critical role in global transportation, ensuring the efficient movement of people and goods. Although generally safe, aviation systems occasionally encounter incidents and accidents that underscore the need for proactive risk management. This study employs machine learning to detect abnormalities in commercial aircraft operations using Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) data. Given the growing reliance on ADS-B technology, concerns regarding its susceptibility to security breaches, such as injection attacks, have intensified. To address these vulnerabilities, we propose a robust ADS-B injection detection system. Employing GridSearchCV for model optimization, it effectively identifies and categorizes injection risks. The system's performance, evaluated using the ADS-B Message Injection Attacks Dataset, achieves outstanding results, including a value of 0.9970 for the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. The proposed classifier also demonstrates a higher area under the curve (0.9999), specificity (0.9956), and Cohen's kappa (0.9954) than existing approaches, while achieving a lower log loss (0.0107). This research significantly enhances aviation security by introducing a highly accurate, computationally efficient, and reliable real-time detection model for ADS-B injection attacks, ensuring the integrity and resilience of modern flight control systems. © 2025 The Authors
