Through early intervention and individualized treatment plans, timely disease detection and personalized healthcare can advance patient results and reduce healthcare costs. With the aim to categorize medical conditions, we present a dataset in this study that includes blood sample parameters like haemoglobin, cholesterol, and glucose. To analyse these parameters, we created a three-layered artificial neural network (ANN). Achieving an accuracy of 93.42% on the test set, the ANN was trained and validated on the dataset. With the aim of reducing overfitting and enhance model generalization, dropout layers were added. Furthermore, a comparative analysis with various optimizers was carried out. The results highlight the ANN's potential as a means for timly diagnosis, personalized healthcare, improving patient outcomes and lowering long-term healthcare costs. They also demonstrate the ANN's ability to accurately classify diseases. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper aims to address the difficulties faced by novice programmers in grasping code structure and execution flow, improving programming thinking, and pinpointing code errors with accuracy. It proposes providing students with program behavior diagrams based on large language models (LLMs) and visualization techniques to achieve personalized guidance. Specifically, these program behavior diagrams include programming thinking visualization diagrams and code vulnerability visualization diagrams. A programming thinking visualization diagram employs static code analysis to gather code structure information, combined with the structured chain-of-thought method to collectively optimize the LLM. This enables the LLM to explain each interpretable part of the code from top to bottom, detailing the programming concepts, and displaying them on a modularized code structure diagram. The code vulnerability visualization diagram primarily utilizes the fine-tuned LLM, optimizing it based on program analysis and clustering analysis methods to accurately identify vulnerabilities in student code and display them on a code flow diagram. Its feature is to visually display to students the error location, error information, and the impact of errors on program flow, rather than providing the programming answers. Lastly, through experiments and statistical analysis of actual teaching data, this paper serves a demonstration that the enhanced models used in the visualization diagram generation process have a noticeable effect on mainstream LLMs, and that visualization diagrams hold significant value for students at different stages of learning. © 2024 IEEE.

Prior research on AI-assisted human decision-making has explored several different explainable AI (XAI) approaches. A recent paper has proposed a paradigm shift calling for hypothesis-driven XAI through a conceptual framework called evaluative AI that gives people evidence that supports or refutes hypotheses without necessarily giving a decision-aid recommendation. In this paper, we describe and evaluate an approach for hypothesis-driven XAI based on the Weight of Evidence (WoE) framework, which generates both positive and negative evidence for a given hypothesis. Through human behavioural experiments, we show that our hypothesis-driven approach increases decision accuracy and reduces reliance compared to a recommendation-driven approach and an AI-explanation-only baseline, but with a small increase in under-reliance compared to the recommendation-driven approach. Further, we show that participants used our hypothesis-driven approach in a materially different way to the two baselines. © 2024 The Authors.

Social video anomaly is an observation in video streams that does not conform to a common pattern of dataset's behaviour. Social video anomaly detection plays a critical role in applications from e-commerce to e-Iearning. Traditionally, anomaly detection techniques are applied to find anomalies in video broadcasting. However, they neglect the live social video streams which contain interactive talk, speech, or lecture with audience. In this paper, we propose a generic framework for effectively online detecting Anomalies Over social Video LI ve Streaming (AOVLIS). Specifically, we propose a novel deep neural network model called Coupling Long Short-Term Memory (CLSTM) that adaptively captures the history behaviours of the presenters and audience, and their mutual interactions to predict their behaviour at next time point over streams. Then we well integrate the CLSTM with a decoder layer, and propose a new reconstruction error-based scoring function REI A to calculate the anomaly score of each video segment for anomaly detection. After that, we propose a novel model update scheme that incrementally maintains CLSTM and decoder. Moreover, we design a novel upper bound and ADaptive Optimisation Strategy (ADOS) for improving the efficiency of our solution. Extensive experiments are conducted to prove the superiority of AOVLIS. © 2024 IEEE.

Content-based recommender systems and collaborative filtering recommender systems might be useful in recommending items that might be preferred by users based on their preferences from the past, these systems rely on users' preferences, items' ratings, and items' descriptions. Thus, these systems might be less useful for items for which users' preferences and ratings cannot be easily collected. On the other hand, a constraint-based recommender system can suggest items that fulfil users' requirements (or constraints) by relying on users' requirements and knowledge about the domain of the items for giving a recommendation. In the case where, no item can be found, the system will proceed with the constraints of a relaxation phase to search for possible modifications in the constraints, give advice to the user, and enable them to edit their requirements to obtain more results. In this study, we propose a new approach called a mixed-based approach. The approach is based on an integration of soft and hard relaxation-based approaches. The proposed approach is implemented as a notebook recommender system. We conducted experiments on the proposed approach using collected data from e-commerce websites. The results also show that the proposed mixed-based approach is able to control constraints, and gives better performance in giving recommendations to users. © 2024 IEEE.

Complex network theory has been widely demonstrated as a powerful tool in modeling and characterizing various complex systems. In the past, complex network theory has focused on the behaviors as well as the characteristics of the network nodes and edges. However, with the continuous evolution of society, traditional graph theory faces challenges due to the emergence of extermely large network structures. Recently, complex network method based statistics has attracted much attention. The new approach effectively manages very large networks and uncovers their intrinsic properties. In this paper, we present a complex network analysis model for undirected, unweighted networks based on a statistical analysis approach. This model is inspired by the ensemble model in thermostatistical physics. Based on the established mathematical model, we derive physical measures that reflect the intrinsic properties of the network, including Entropy, Free Energy, Temperature, and so on. In the experimental part, we first explored the mathematical characterization of these metrics. Then, we observed the performance of various network categories under the same metric. Finally, we applied these measures to the field of graph classification. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Efficient route optimization is a crucial concern in modern transportation systems, influencing travel time, resource consumption, and user satisfaction. By empowering users to select their priority parameters, such as safety or efficiency, this project enables travellers to make eco-conscious choices and select routes that minimize their environmental footprint. Real-time data integration ensures users can bypass traffic jams and accidents, reducing emissions and fuel consumption. Furthermore, the focus on safety factors helps prevent accidents, thereby fostering safer road environments. Existing systems often fall short, providing limited customization and overlooking safety and sustainability priorities. To bridge these gaps, this project introduces an advanced route planning system that empowers users to select their priority parameters, integrates real-time data for up-to- the-minute updates, and prioritizes road safety. It introduces a pioneering approach that enhances the Dijkstra Algorithm by integrating real-time accident rate and travel time data into the route optimization process. By considering these additional factors, the algorithm produces routes that not only minimize distance but also prioritize safety and time efficiency in dynamic real-world conditions. The algorithm's multi-factor optimization considers distance, accident rates, and travel times, enabling the creation of routes that balance these criteria and offer improved decision-making for users through a user- friendly interface. The algorithm's dynamic adaptability, multi- factor optimization, and practical implementation showcase its potential to revolutionize how routes are planned, leading to safer, faster, and more informed travel experiences. © 2024 IEEE.

Uncertain perturbations in dynamical systems often arise from diverse resources, represented by latent components. The predictions for these components, typically generated by "black-box" machine learning tools, are prone to inaccuracies. To tackle this challenge, we introduce DISC, a novel policy that learns a confidence parameter online to harness the potential of accurate predictions while also mitigating the impact of erroneous forecasts. When predictions are precise, DISC leverages this information to achieve near-optimal performance. Conversely, in the case of significant prediction errors, it still has a worst-case competitive ratio guarantee. We provide competitive ratio bounds for DISC under both linear mixing of latent variables as well as a broader class of mixing functions. Our results highlight a first-of-its-kind "best-of-both-worlds" integration of machine-learned predictions, thus lead to a near-optimal consistency and robustness tradeoff, which provably improves what can be obtained without learning the confidence parameter. We validate the applicability of DISC across a spectrum of practical scenarios. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

Due to privacy and security concerns, recent advancements in group fairness advocate for model training regardless of demographic information. However, most methods still require prior knowledge of demographics. In this study, we explore the potential for achieving fairness without compromising its utility when no prior demographics are provided to the training set, namely harmless Rawlsian fairness. We ascertain that such a fairness requirement with no prior demographic information essential promotes training losses to exhibit a Dirac delta distribution. To this end, we propose a simple but effective method named VFair to minimize the variance of training losses inside the optimal set of empirical losses. This problem is then optimized by a tailored dynamic update approach that operates in both loss and gradient dimensions, directing the model towards relatively fairer solutions while preserving its intact utility. Our experimental findings indicate that regression tasks, which are relatively unexplored from literature, can achieve significant fairness improvement through VFair regardless of any prior, whereas classification tasks usually do not because of their quantized utility measurements. Resistive random access memory(RRAM)enables the functionality of operating massively parallel dot prod-ucts and ***-based accelerator is such an effective approach to bridging the gap between Internet of Things devices'constrained resources and deep neural networks'tremendous *** to the huge overhead of Analog to Digital(A/D)and digital accumulations,analog RRAM buffer is introduced to extend the processing in analog and in *** analog RRAM buffer offers potential solutions to A/D conversion issues,the energy consumption is still challenging in resource-constrained environments,especially with enormous intermediate data ***,criti-cal concerns over endurance must also be resolved before the RRAM buffer could be frequently used in reality for DNN in-ference *** we propose LayCO,a layer-centric co-optimizing scheme to address the energy and endurance con-cerns altogether while strictly providing an inference accuracy *** relies on two key ideas:1)co-optimizing with reduced supply voltage and reduced bit-width of accelerator architectures to increase the DNN's error tolerance and achieve the accelerator's energy efficiency,and 2)efficiently mapping and swapping individual DNN data to a correspond-ing RRAM partition in a way that meets the endurance *** evaluation with representative DNN models demonstrates that LayCO outperforms the baseline RRAM buffer based accelerator by 27x improvement in energy effi-ciency(over TIMELY-like configuration),308x in lifetime prolongation and 6x in area reduction(over RAQ)while main-taining the DNN accuracy loss less than 1％.
