Analysis of Subsynchronous Oscillations Caused by Interactions of DFIG-Based Farms and SVGs

The static var generators (SVGs) installed at the point of common coupling (PCC) of wind farms can significantly impact the sub-synchronous oscillation (SSO) performance of the power system with grid-connected wind farms. For example, in 2017 multiple SSO events were caused by interactions among a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based farm, constant reactive power mode (CRPM) based SVGs, and the weak grid in Xinjiang, China. This paper reveals the mechanisms of the SSO caused by the interaction among DFIG-based farms, SVGs with different control modes, and weak grids. It is discovered that CRPM-based SVGs with low current controller bandwidths (CCBWs) can suppress SSOs in the power system with grid-connected DFIG-based farms, but that constant voltage mode (CVM) based SVGs and constant power factor mode (CPFM) based SVGs can worsen the SSO performance of the system. Furthermore, it is revealed why the amplitude of the super-synchronous component is larger than the sub-synchronous component in these events by deriving their amplitude ratio equation. Finally, the theoretical analysis results are verified by the small-signal method and electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation. © 1969-2012 IEEE.

In modern battlefields, the stability of wireless communications is crucial for intelligence transmission, command coordination, and maintaining strategic advantage. However, with the rapid advancement of communication technologies, the electromagnetic environment has become increasingly complex, making intelligent decision-making in communication countermeasures a prominent research focus. However, most existing studies adopt deep learning and reinforcement learning methods, which require extensive data samples and computational resources. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a game-theoretic model for intelligent radio communication countermeasures under incomplete information. It quantitatively evaluates common attack and defense tactcis used in communication countermeasures and explores the mixed-strategy equilibrium of the game when both the attackers and defenders consist of multiple types. Furthermore, simulation-based comparative analyses are conducted to assess the factors influencing the utility of both the attacker and defender. The findings offer theoretical insights and decision-making support for the deployment of communication countermeasure strategies in practical military operations, contributing to significant strategic value. © 2025 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. This paper addresses the problem of distributed estimation and motion control (DEMC) in multi-agent systems (MASs) with both linear and Lipschitz nonlinear dynamics. Unlike conventional DEMC methods designed for MASs under ideal conditions, this work investigates scenarios where all agents are vulnerable to various forms of attacks. The considered attacks comprise false-data injection (FDI) attacks and denial of service (DoS) attacks that affect the communication channels among agents to destabilize the MAS. Also, the unbounded actuator attacks which exist in practical environments to intentionally degrade the MAS performance is considered. To cope with these kinds of attacks, two novel resilient approaches are established aimed at estimating and following a mobile target under attacks. The proposed distributed attack-resilient control strategies are designed based on a dual-layer structure, guaranteeing effective DEMC with an ultimately bounded error. The results from two simulation examples are provided to validate the presented algorithms. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Vibration-induced bias error reduction using loop gain compensation for high-precision fiber optic gyroscopes

Vibration-induced bias deviation,which is generated by intensity fluctuations and additional phase differences,is one of the vital errors for fiber optic gyroscopes(FOGs)operating in vibration environment and has severely restricted the applications of high-precision *** conventional methods for suppressing vibration-induced errors mostly concentrate on reinforcing the mechanical structure and optical path as well as the compensation under some specific operation parameters,which have very limited effects for high-precision FOGs maintaining performances under *** this work,a technique of suppressing the vibration-induced bias deviation through removing the part related to the varying gain from the rotation-rate output is put ***,the loop gain is extracted out by adding a gain-monitoring *** demodulating the loop gain and the rotation rate simultaneously under distinct frequencies and investigating their quantitative relationship,the vibrationinduced bias error is compensated without limiting the operating parameters or environments,like the applied modulation *** experimental results show that the proposed method has achieved the reduction of bias error from about 0.149°/h to0.014°/h during the random vibration with frequencies from20 Hz to 2000 *** technique provides a feasible route for enhancing the performances of high-precision FOGs heading towards high environmental adaptability.

Comprehensive multimodal approach for Parkinson’s disease classification using artificial intelligence: insights and model explainability

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder affecting millions worldwide. Early detection is vital for effective management, yet remains challenging. In this study, we investigated four distinct datasets for PD detection. Through comprehensive experimentation employing ensemble methods and feature selection, we achieved high classification accuracies across the datasets. For the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Detection Dataset, an accuracy of 95.67%, precision of 97.59%, recall of 84.5%, specificity of 99.32%, and F1-score of 90.57% were achieved. For the Alzheimer Parkinson Diseases 3 Class Dataset, the "Stacking" approach surpasses individual models, reaching an accuracy of 99.85%, precision of 99.81%, recall of 99.81%, specificity of 99.86%, and F1 of 99.81%. For the NewHandPD dataset, Regarding the Spiral category, The "Base-P32-384" model surpasses others with an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 96.50%, recall of 98.57%, and F1-score of 97.53%. The collective "Stacking" approach proves highly effective regarding the Circle category, achieving 100% across all performance metrics. Regarding the Meander category, the "Base-P16-224" model achieves an accuracy of 97.35%, precision of 99.26%, recall of 95.71%, specificity of 99.19%, and F1 of 97.45%. The Mobile Device Voice Recordings at King’s College London (MDVR-KCL) dataset contains two datasets. Regarding the "SpontaneousDialogue" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 94.03%, 92.83%, 90.78%, 100.0%, and 85.67%, respectively. Regarding the "ReadText" dataset, accuracy, BAC, precision, recall, specificity, and F1-score were computed, resulting in values of 91.89%, 90.62%, 87.5%, 100.0%, and 81.25%, respectively. This paper investigates the group formation control problem for cyber-physical systems (CPSs) with random communication constraints. The distributed cloud computing system is constructed to divide agents into groups and establish communication between agents. A data-driven predictive control strategy is proposed by combining networked predictive control and model-free adaptive control method. The desired group formation control performance can be achieved and the three-channel random communication constraints of CPSs are actively compensated. Thisstrategy does not require the system model and relies solely on the system's I/O data for adaptive learning. Further analyses concludes the conditions for simultaneous reach stability and group formation of the closed-loop CPSs using the data-driven predictive control strategy. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated by simulation results. © 2023 IEEE.

Propofol-Induced Moderate-Deep Sedation Modulates Pediatric Neural Activity:A Functional Connectivity Study

Background:Previous studies have demonstrated the underlying neurophysiologic mechanism during general anesthesia in ***,the mechanism of propofol-induced moderate-deep sedation(PMDS)in modulating pediatric neural activity remains unknown,which therefore was investigated in the present study based on functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI).Methods:A total of 41 children(5.10�1.14 years,male/female 21/20)with fMRI were employed to construct the functional connectivity network(FCN).The network communication,graph-theoretic properties,and network hub identification were statistically analyzed(t test and Bonferroni correction)between sedation(21 children)and awake(20 children)*** involved analyses were established on the whole-brain FCN and seven sub-networks,which included the default mode network(DMN),dorsal attentional network(DAN),salience network(SAN),auditory network(AUD),visual network(VIS),subcortical network(SUB),and other networks(Other).Results:Under PMDS,significant decreases in network communication were observed between SUB-VIS,SUB-DAN,and VIS-DAN,and between brain regions from the temporal lobe,limbic system,and subcortical ***,no significant decrease in thalamus-related communication was *** graph-theoretic properties were significantly decreased in the sedation group,and all graphical features of the DMN showed significant group *** superior parietal cortex with different neurological functions was identified as a network hub that was not greatly ***:Although the children had a depressed level of neural activity under PMDS,the crucial thalamus-related communication was maintained,and the network hub superior parietal cortex stayed active,which highlighted clinical prac-tices that the human body under PMDS is still perceptible to external stimuli and can be awakened by sound or touch.

The systolic array (SA) architecture is widely used in accelerator/AI chip design due to its excellent matrix multiplication acceleration effect. However, the mismatch between the traditional sparse matrix compression format and the SA architecture results in poor SA performance in computing sparse matrices. To solve the problem, we propose a method for co-designing the sparse compression format and SA architecture. This work proposes the Vector Group Compressed Coordinate (VGCC) data stream compression format and designs a sparse SA architecture based on hardware encoding and decoding. VGCC can handle data streams of any size without increasing the index bit width. The VGCC compression size is significantly smaller than general sparse compression formats such as COO/CSR. In a sparse matrix with a sparsity of 90%, it saves 67.13% of storage space compared to the state-of-the-art ECOO data stream compression format and achieves an average acceleration of 1.54 times. We also propose a VGCC-friendly SA architecture. Our SA architecture engine reduces logic consumption by 51.6% compared to Sparse TPU while achieving a 3.23x speedup. To mitigate the issue of high no-load rates in systolic arrays, we introduce a Data Transmission Priority (DTP) data matching algorithm. With sparsity levels ranging from 50% to 90%, the algorithm’s calculation speed is enhanced by 1.124x to 1.991x. We implemented a sparse DNN accelerator on an FPGA Zynq UltraScale+MPSoC ZCU102, utilizing the VGCC compression format proposed in this study for compressing input data. When compared to the S2 Engine, the accelerator achieved a 3.37x speed improvement in matrix multiplication with 75% sparsity, significantly enhancing the speed of sparse matrix multiplication. In the context of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), the role of vehicle detection and classification is indispensable for streamlining transportation management, refining traffic control, and conducting in-depth accident analyses. However, the intricate task of accurately detecting multi-oriented vehicles in diverse scenarios remains a challenge, even with the advancements in ITS. Factors such as vehicle morphology, design, road conditions, structural details, and climatic variables provide a significant part in the detection. To address this, our study introduces an advanced YOLOv8n model, specifically the YOLOv8n-CGW, which is built upon pre-trained deep learning frameworks. This model is meticulously tailored to enhance the detection capabilities for multi-oriented vehicles. Comprehensive evaluations on esteemed datasets like MtV, MERGED, Custom dataset, DAWN, WEDGE, and UA-DETRAC underscore the superiority of our approach over existing models. Notably, our YOLOv8n-CGW model achieves a remarkable mAP of 83.3% and boasts a swift inference time of 0.0019s, setting a new benchmark in the domain. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

To achieve ubiquitous connectivity of the sixth generation communication, the space-air-ground integrated network (SAGIN) is a popular topic. However, the dynamic nodes in SAGIN such as satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles, may be fragile and out of operation, which can potentially cause service failure. Therefore, the research on service recovery in SAGIN under situations of resource failure is critical. In order to facilitate the flexible resource utilization of SAGIN, the network function virtualization technology (NFV) is proposed to be employed. Firstly, the task management is transformed into the deployment of service function chains (SFCs). Then, we design an NFV-based SFC recovery model in SAGIN in the face of resource failure, so that tasks can quickly select alternative resources to complete deployments. Moreover, the problem of SFC recovery is formulated to minimize the total time consumption for all completed SFCs. Since it is an NP-hard integer linear programming problem, we propose the efficient recovery algorithm based on the matching game. Finally, via various simulations, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and its advantages are verified, where the total time consumption is optimized by about 25%, compared with other benchmark methods. © 2013 IEEE.
