Interactive technologies are increasingly being used as discursive objects for raising awareness about the environment in the cultural sector, but little is known about the user's lived experience during an interaction. In this study, we present the development and evaluation of an interface designed to raise awareness about the environment within a speculative art installation. For this purpose, we drew on the concept of sentinel species, specifically the miner's canary, to enable a multisensory experience with the state of the air. We then evaluated the interface with 14 participants while interacting in a prototypical arrangement in the laboratory. Overall, the findings indicate promising directions towards a sentinel-species-mimicking interface that communicates the state of the air through its physiological behavior and thus also engages with the user's empathy on a cognitive and emotional level. Based on the findings, we highlight the implications of this study and point to further directions for human-atmosphere interactions. © 2023 ACM.

The implementation of secure communication in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has made and it is a significant security concern. Identity-based generalized signcryption scheme is one among the cryptographic tools available that offers a secure way out to meet the security needs of IIoT. Our proposal is a lightweight scheme, an efficient identity-based generalized signcryption that works as an encryption signature, or signcryption scheme using only one algorithm in a standard model. This scheme is appropriate for storage-limited environments like wireless sensor networks and smart cards due to its lightweight nature. The resource allocation of the federated learning(FL)for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)swarm systems are *** UAV swarms based on FL realize the artificial intelligence(AI)applications by means of distributed training on the basis of ensuring the security of private ***,the direct application of the FL in UAV swarms will incur high ***,in this article,we consider the resource allocation problem in FL for UAV *** avoid the high communication overhead between UAVs and the central server,we proposed an FL framework for UAV swarms based on mobile edge computing(MEC)in which model aggregation is migrated to edge *** the proposed framework,the total cost of the FL is defined as the weighted sum of the total delay of UAV swarms to complete the FL and system energy *** order to minimize the total cost of FL,we propose a resource allocation algorithm for joint optimization of computing resources and multi-UAV association based on deep reinforcement learning(DRL).The simulation result shows that:(1)compared with the benchmark algorithm,the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce the total cost of FL;(2)the proposed algorithm can realize the trade-off between task completion delay and system energy consumption through weight changes.

Global cities are expected to face more severe climate crises in the future;therefore, it becomes increasingly acute to better understand urban microclimates, especially the urban thermal environments. This paper proposes an innovative urban microclimate digital twin framework for integrating multi-sourced spatiotemporal data, investigating effective modeling approaches, and exploring the mitigation potential of health risks and environmental harms resulting from extreme microclimate conditions. We examined our framework in the case of Phoenix to simulate its fine-scale thermal conditions. Our evaluation of multiple models shows that the GNN model outperforms other regression models by 36.3% and suggests that planting trees could be an effective strategy for heatwave mitigation. We also tested different urban greening strategies for their overall cooling efficiency, indicating that our framework can be used to assess fine-scale urban policy interventions and thus generate insights to inform the design and implementation of efficient mitigation plans. © 2023 by the American Society of Civil Engineers. In order to meet the pressing demand for early diagnosis in healthcare, we proposed a unique hybrid architecture in this study that is intended for the categorization of gastrointestinal (GI) illnesses. With fewer trainable parameters, faster training times, and less storage needed for model weights, our suggested architecture prioritizes efficiency achieves an impressive 94% accuracy. To effectively diagnose GI disorders, this design combines convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with Transformers. The creation of this hybrid architecture, which boasts excellent accuracy in illness categorization, decreased storage requirements, and efficiency in training, is one of the research's accomplishments. Our proposed model demonstrates its flexibility for many uses, encouraging simple implementation and expandability. Extensive tests performed on a large dataset of endoscopic images highlight our hybrid architecture's better performance over current techniques. With this study, diagnostics for gastrointestinal diseases have advanced significantly, opening the door to future diagnostic systems that will be more precise and effective. The proposed architecture has outperformed the traditional pre-trained models both in classification accuracy and time to train the model with no weights. © 2024 IEEE.

In today’s smart cities, it’s essential to combine advanced healthcare with education. Our research introduces a groundbreaking method for detecting skin cancer, using a new type of artificial intelligence called a Vision Transformer. This model analyzes a wide range of skin images from different people and accurately identifies skin cancer, especially melanoma and benign *** beyond traditional techniques like convolutional neural networks, our approach uses advanced attentionmechanisms to improve accuracy by focusing on key areas in the skin images. The model has been thoroughly tested with specific criteria to ensure it can reliably detect skin cancer while reducing errors. This research is particularly important as skin cancer rates are increasing worldwide, and early, accurate detection is vital for saving lives. Our study focuses on providing assistance to healthcare practitioners for skin disease diagnostics as well as to assist in providing training and education to healthcare researchers. The present study explores the consequence of homogeneous–heterogeneous chemical reactions on the unsteady flow of Boger ternary nanoliquid via a slow rotating disk with the porous medium, suction, and non-linear thermal radiation. Additionally, the temperature equation is modelled using the Cattaneo–Christov heat flux theory. Fluid flow past revolving disk concepts are utilized in various technical applications, including gas turbine engines, flywheels, gears, and brakes. The analysis considers titanium dioxide, cobalt ferrite, and magnesium oxide nanoparticles that are suspended in water. Using similarity variables, the governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are converted to dimensionless ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Further, the resultant ODEs are numerically solved using the finite difference method (FDM). The impact of several parameters on the velocity, thermal, and concentration profiles are depicted with the graphical illustrations. The velocity profiles decline as the ratio of relaxation time and porous parameter values rise. An increase in the solvent fraction parameter enhances the velocity profiles. The velocity profiles diminish as the suction parameter increases. As the radiation parameter values increase, the temperature profile rises. The concentration profile diminishes as the intensity of the homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction parameters escalates. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

We propose a new way of looking at local optima networks (LONs). LONs represent fitness landscapes;the nodes are local optima, and the edges are search transitions between them. Many metrics computed on LONs have been proposed and shown to be linked to metaheuristic search difficulty. These have typically considered LONs as describing static structures. In contrast to this, Laplacian dynamics (LD) is an approach to consider the information flow across a network as a dynamical process. We adapt and apply LD to the context of LONs. As a testbed, we consider instances from the quadratic assignment problem (QAP) library. Metrics related to LD are proposed and these are compared with existing LON metrics. The results show that certain LD metrics are strong predictors of metaheuristic performance for iterated local search and tabu search. © 2024 IEEE.

Radiology tumour spotting is complicated and requires medical knowledge. Thus, a lack of doctors should not delay cancer detection programmes. Biomedical image processing software helps find brain tumours in MRI data. This study segmented and detected brain tumours using MRI sequence images. This process is complicated by the similarity of normal tissues and the wide range of tumour tissues in different patients. Brain tumour detection is the main goal. Brain tumour diagnosis requires precise tumour size and position. This paper presents a deep learning-based brain tumour MRI segmentation and classification method. We preprocessed the photos with the Gaussian blur filter and image enhancement tool. Binary thresholding segments. Morphological methods reveal traits. CNN will assess brain MRI regularity. This study uses the Kaggle Dataset. We train with 255 brain MRIs, 155 with tumours and 98 normal, and achieve 97% accuracy. We test the model using Kaggle brain MR datasets. Brain tumour detection, segmentation, and categorization;medical image processing. With growing urbanization there is a need to manage vehicle-to-vehicle communication for intelligent communication in congested traffic. The performance of the widely used routing protocols AODV, DSDV, DSR, LAR, and ZRP is examined in this research in relation to traffic circumstances on a particular highway. Utilizing OSM data, integrated with NS2 and SUMO, realistic traffic scenarios are simulated. ZRP is a hybrid protocol that handles local communication within zones and LAR bridges the gap between the nodes and zones. This increases communication efficiency. Simulation of scenarios gives a clearer idea of how the dissemination is happening and helps in performance analysis. The protocols are assessed using important performance criteria in this study by means of a methodical approach that includes data collecting, simulation, and execution. Comparison of the metrics for the protocols helps in protocol selection for given scenarios, optimization, and standardized evaluation. The specific metrics considered for performance evaluation include Packet Delivery Ratio, Average End-to-End Delay, Average Throughput, Packet Drop Rate, and Normalized Routing Load. © 2024 IEEE.
