目的:天然沉积的结构性软土分布广泛,但能考虑结构性影响的大应变固结理论鲜有报道。本文考虑结构屈服压力随初始有效应力的变化及土体结构性对压缩与渗透特性的影响,建立结构性软土的大应变固结模型。研究结构性及初始有效应力对大应变固结性状的影响,并探讨结构性软土大、小应变固结性状的差异,以提高软土固结计算的精准度。创新点:1.建立考虑天然沉积软土结构性影响的一维大应变固结模型,且该模型能考虑结构屈服压力随初始有效应力的变化;2.分析天然结构性软土大、小应变固结性状的差异,为实际工程中的软土固结计算提供理论依据。方法:1.总结结构性软土对压缩和渗透特性的影响及结构屈服压力与初始有效应力间的关系;2.通过理论推导,构建考虑结构性影响的软体一维大应变固结模型(公式(15)和(16));3.通过对模型进行数值求解,分析软土结构性对大应变固结性状的影响,以及考虑结构性影响的大、小应变固结性状的差异。结论:1.大应变假定下结构性软土中超静孔压的消散速率要比小应变假定下快,且这种差异随着土层应变增大而增大;当应变值超过15%时必须采用大应变假定。2.如果土层的初始有效应力计算方法相同,则大、小应变不同假定下土层的最终沉降值是相同的。3.相同几何假定下,初始有效应力计算方法对超静孔压消散速率几乎无影响,但对沉降变形影响明显。4.大、小应变假定下固结性状间的差异随结构屈服压力的增大而减小。

Improving 5G/B5G Network Performance with RFID-Enabled Resource Management Systems

In the rapidly evolving landscape of 5G and B5G (beyond 5G) networks, efficient resource optimization is critical to addressing the escalating demands for high-speed, low-latency, and energy-efficient communication. This study explores the integration of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology as a novel approach to enhance resource management in 5G/B5G networks. The motivation behind this research lies in overcoming persistent challenges such as spectrum congestion, high latency, and inefficient load balancing, which impede the performance of traditional resource allocation methods. To achieve this, RFID tags were embedded in critical network components, including user devices, base stations, and Internet of Things (IoT) nodes, enabling the collection of real-time data on device status, location, and resource utilization. RFID readers strategically placed across the network continuously captured this data, which was processed by a centralized controller using a custom-designed optimization algorithm. This algorithm dynamically managed key network resources, including spectrum allocation, load balancing, and energy consumption, ensuring efficient operation under varying network conditions. Simulations were conducted to evaluate the performance of the RFID-based model against traditional 4G dynamic resource allocation techniques. The results demonstrated substantial improvements in key performance metrics. The proposed system achieved a 25% increase in spectrum utilization, a 30% reduction in average latency, a 15% boost in network throughput, and a 20% decrease in overall energy consumption. These gains highlight the effectiveness of the RFID-based optimization model in meeting the stringent performance requirements of 5G networks, particularly in high-density deployments. This study provides a scalable, cost-effective solution for optimizing resource management in 5G/B5G and lays the groundwork for future advancements in 6G networks. By leveraging real-tim

Joint source and channel coding (JSCC) for image transmission has attracted increasing attention due to its robustness and high efficiency. However, the existing deep JSCC research mainly focuses on minimizing the distortion between the transmitted and received information under a fixed number of available channels. Therefore, the transmitted rate may be far more than its required minimum value. In this paper, an adaptive information bottleneck (IB) guided joint source and channel coding (AIB-JSCC) method is proposed for image transmission. The goal of AIB-JSCC is to reduce the transmission rate while improving the image reconstruction quality. In particular, a new IB objective for image transmission is proposed so as to minimize the distortion and the transmission rate. A mathematically tractable lower bound on the proposed objective is derived, and then, adopted as the loss function of AIB-JSCC. To trade off compression and reconstruction quality, an adaptive algorithm is proposed to adjust the hyperparameter of the proposed loss function dynamically according to the distortion during the training. Experimental results show that AIB-JSCC can significantly reduce the required amount of transmitted data and improve the reconstruction quality and downstream task accuracy. In this study we investigate the addition of short polypropylene (PP) fibers in cement mortars for a wide volume percentage range. These fibers are dispersed easily in fresh mortar and create a dense network, whereas have as result the cracking reduction during dry shrinkage and the improvement of post peak response. A modified superplasticizer by lignosulfonate polymers basis was used, that keeps at low level the water to cement ratio and thus resulting to an improved mortar’s workability. Compressive strength, three-point flexural strength, drying shrinkage of hardened mortar, flow table test and air content of fresh mortar were studied in a range of volume percentages. The experimental response according to volume percentage was approximated by suitably attached theoretical models. The comparison of the obtained experimental values was done with unreinforced specimens as reference samples. From results elaboration it is concluded that the addition of PP fibers in cementitious mortars improves mortars post-peak response but weaken their compressive and flexural strengths and worsen their workability. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

There have been important advances regarding the synergies between Building Information Modeling (BIM) - as part of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) - and Lean Construction. However, the literature does not fully explore the nature of these synergies nor the conceptual reasons behind them. This better understanding of these synergies would allow the architecture, engineering and Construction (AEC) industry to achieve better Lean and VDC implementations and would provide a stepping-stone for the academia to continue building on these synergies. This article presents a thorough literature review based on leading international journals, conference proceedings and books, to explore the synergies between Lean Construction and VDC, including BIM (product), process and organization modeling. As part of this review, the article tests mechanisms about interaction mechanisms, previously mentioned in the literature. The findings indicate that using the entire VDC framework, the positive interactions between Lean and VDC increased significantly with respect to the same analysis restricted to the interaction between Lean and BIM. Identifying these new interactions and interaction mechanisms can help the AEC industry take a more holistic approach and generate improvements in every project phase. © Prof. Luis F. Multi-accelerator servers are increasingly being deployed in shared multi-tenant environments (such as in cloud data centers) in order to meet the demands of large-scale compute-intensive workloads. In addition, these accelerators are increasingly being inter-connected in complex topologies and workloads are exhibiting a wider variety of inter-accelerator communication patterns. However, existing allocation policies are ill-suited for these emerging use-cases. Specifically, this work identifies that multi-accelerator workloads are commonly fragmented leading to reduced bandwidth and increased latency for inter-accelerator communication. We propose Multi-Accelerator Pattern Allocation (MAPA), a graph pattern mining approach towards providing generalized allocation support for allocating multi-accelerator workloads on multi-accelerator servers. We demonstrate that MAPA is able to improve the execution time of multi-accelerator workloads and that MAPA is able to provide generalized benefits across various accelerator topologies. Finally, we demonstrate a speedup of 12.4% for 75th percentile of jobs with the worst case execution time reduced by up to 35% against baseline policy using MAPA.

Tensor-specialized hardware for supporting low-precision arithmetic has become an inevitable trend due to the ever-increasing demand on computational capability and energy efficiency in intelligent applications. The main challenge faced when accelerating a tensor program on tensor-specialized hardware is how to achieve the best performance possible in reduced precision by fully utilizing its computational resources while keeping the precision loss in a controlled manner. In this paper, we address this challenge by proposing QUANTENSOR, a new approach for accelerating general-purpose tensor programs by replacing its tensor computations with low-precision quantized tensor computations on NVIDIA Tensor Cores. The key novelty is a new residual-based precision refinement technique for controlling the quantization errors, allowing tradeoffs between performance and precision to be made. Evaluation with GEMM, deep neural networks, and linear algebra applications shows that QUANTENSOR can achieve remarkable performance improvements while reducing the precision loss incurred significantly at acceptable overheads.

In this paper, discrete-time chaos generator is exploited for lightweight and energy-efficient true random number generator (TRNG) implementation. The chaos generator is realized with a two-stage tent map circuit with feedback. Each stage consists of three transistors. Its transient characteristics can be tuned over a range of bias voltage to realize a family of tent map functions. The chaotic output voltage amplitude of each stage is highly sensitive to the environmental noise. The difference signal between two such chaos generators at each stage is amplified to produce a random binary output. The output of the quantized sense amplifier is sampled at twice the bit rate of each stage of tent map circuit. The proposed design was simulated using a standard 55 nm 1.2 V CMOS process. The results show that it has a very low power consumption of 10.98 μW. It has an ultra-low energy consumption of only 5.49 pJ/bit at a throughput of 2 Mbps, which is 19x lower than the recently reported state-of-the-art and the most power efficient chaotic TRNGs. The random bit stream generated by the proposed TRNG has passed entropy, ACF and NIST randomness tests.
