There are a wide range of numerical modelling approaches available for assessing the condition and predicting the performance of engineered slopes, subjected to seasonal weather patterns and climate changes. These modelling approaches often use different techniques such as limit equilibrium methods coupled with steady state or transient seepage analyses, fully coupled finite element stress analyses or other modelling techniques which focus on the effects of the near surface processes of vegetation and the environment. This paper compares two of the numerical modelling approaches based on an instrumented research site located close to Newry, Northern Ireland. This work is part of iSMART, which is an EPSRC-funded research consortium of 6 leading UK academic collaborators and industrial partners, addressing sustainable management and resilience assessment of infrastructure slopes. © The authors and ICE Publishing: All rights reserved, 2015.

The analysis of binary code is a common step of Man-At-The-End attacks to identify code sections crucial to implement attacks, such as identifying private key hidden in the code, identifying sensitive algorithms or tamper with the code to disable protections (e.g. license checks or DRM) embedded in binary code, or use the software in an unauthorized manner. Code Mobility can be used to thwart code analysis and debugging by removing parts of the code from the deployed software program and installing it at run-time by downloading binary code blocks from a trusted server. The proposed architecture of the code mobility protection downloads mobile code blocks, which are allocated dynamically at addresses determined at run-time;control transfers into and out of mobile code blocks are rewritten using the Diablo binary-rewriter tool. © 2015 ACM.

The KM3NeT Collaboration is currently constructing a multi-site high-energy neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea consisting of matrices of pressure-resistant glass spheres, each holding a set of 31 small-area photomultipliers. The main goals of the telescope are the observation of neutrino sources in the Universe and the measurement of the neutrino oscillation parameters with atmospheric neutrinos. Both extraterrestrial and atmospheric neutrinos are detected through the Cherenkov light induced in seawater by charged particles produced in neutrino interactions in the surrounding medium. A relative time synchronization between photomultipliers of the order of 1 ns is needed to guarantee the required angular resolution of the detector. Due to the large detector volumes to be instrumented by KM3NeT, a cost reduction of the different systems is a priority. To this end, the inexpensive Nanobeacon has been designed and developed by the KM3NeT Collaboration to be used for detector time-calibration studies. At present, more than 600 Nanobeacons have been already produced. The characterization of the optical pulse and the wavelength emission profile of the devices are critical for the time calibration. Starburst galaxies (SBGs) and more in general starforming galaxies represent a class of galaxies with a high star formation rate (up to 100 M☉ /year). Despite their low luminosity, they can be considered as guaranteed "factories" of high energy neutrinos, being "reservoirs" of accelerated cosmic rays and hosting a high density target gas in the central region. In this contribution we present a novel multimessenger study of these sources and the possibility of observing their neutrino signals with the KM3NeT/ARCA telescope. The differential sensitivity for different SBG scenarios is reported considering track-like neutrino events in the 100 GeV-100 PeV energy range. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The KM3NeT research infrastructure is under construction in the Mediterranean Sea. KM3NeT will study atmospheric and astrophysical neutrinos with two multi-purpose neutrino detectors, ARCA and ORCA, primarily aimed at GeV–PeV neutrinos. Thanks to the multi-photomultiplier tube design of the digital optical modules, KM3NeT is capable of detecting the neutrino burst from a Galactic or near-Galactic core-collapse supernova. This potential is already exploitable with the first detection units deployed in the sea. This paper describes the real-time implementation of the supernova neutrino search, operating on the two KM3NeT detectors since the first months of 2019. A quasi-online astronomy analysis is introduced to study the time profile of the detected neutrinos for especially significant events. The mechanism of generation and distribution of alerts, as well as the integration into the SNEWS and SNEWS 2.0 global alert systems are described. The approach for the follow-up of external alerts with a search for a neutrino excess in the archival data is defined. KM3NeT/ORCA is a next-generation neutrino telescope optimised for atmospheric neutrino oscillations studies. In this paper, the sensitivity of ORCA to the presence of a light sterile neutrino in a 3+1 model is presented. After three years of data taking, ORCA will be able to probe the active-sterile mixing angles θ14, θ24, θ34 and the effective angle θµe, over a broad range of mass squared difference ∆m241 „ r10´5, 10s eV2, allowing to test the eV-mass sterile neutrino hypothesis as the origin of short baseline anomalies, as well as probing the hypothesis of a very light sterile neutrino, not yet constrained by cosmology. Information System (IS) auditing is the assessment of various controls, risk, and system development within IS infrastructures. Incorporation of sustainability within the existing audit process aims to enhance the execution of the IS audit for an effective information system. Commonly, the performance of an IS service is evaluated through quantitative scales such as Likert Scale. However, such measurement does not provide an accurate value of the audit context due to lack of precision. Our work attempts to address this limitation. In particular, we propose a Sustainability-driven Information System Audit (SISA) approach that integrates Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Fuzzy Set Theory (FST) to determine the performance of sustainability in IS focusing on the public organization. Sustainability consists of five dimensions as audit criteria, i.e., economic, environmental, resources, social and technology. These audit criteria are also contain sub-criteria such as cost, green IS...etc. In our case, the AHP is used to identify the relevance importance of the sustainability dimensions and its related attributes so that we can prioritize the relevant audit areas. The priority is then used to determine the level of the satisfactory of the IS sustainability using the FST. Finally, we provide a case study from the National Audit Department of Malaysia to demonstrate the applicability of our approach. The results show that this approach is useful for an effective audit towards sustainability, where auditors are able to produce effective justification for IS audit findings.

The next generation of water Cherenkov neutrino telescopes in the Mediterranean Sea are under construction offshore France (KM3NeT/ORCA) and Sicily (KM3NeT/ARCA). The KM3NeT/ORCA detector features an energy detection threshold which allows to collect atmospheric neutrinos to study flavour oscillation. This paper reports the KM3NeT/ORCA sensitivity to this phenomenon. The event reconstruction, selection and classification are described. The sensitivity to determine the neutrino mass ordering was evaluated and found to be 4.4σ if the true ordering is normal and 2.3σ if inverted, after three years of data taking. The precision to measure ∆m232 and θ23 were also estimated and found to be 85 · 10-6 eV2 and (+1.9/-3.4)° for normal neutrino mass ordering and, 75 · 10-6 eV2 and (+2.0/-7.0)° for inverted ordering. Finally, a unitarity test of the leptonic mixing matrix by measuring the rate of tau neutrinos is described. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation performed to understand the occurrence of scour in front of a vertical seawall. A single wave steepened by an artificial slope that breaks on the seawall or as close as possible to it was generated. For this purpose, a physical model was constructed and placed in a 2D wave flume where a focused wave group was generated at the toe of the fore slope. Three distinctive sediment types for the slope were tested (sand and two gravel sizes) and the experimental program included tests with different slope angles, relative submergence, still water depths and energy spectra (Jonswap and Top-Hat). Empirical models for the prediction of scour as a function of the maximum wave height at toe of the slope were obtained for the sand and smallest gravel slopes. © 2017 American Society of Civil Engineers.
