Traditional diagnostic models for laser gyroscopes, widely utilized as high-precision angular velocity sensors in aerospace applications, often suffer from limited reliability and accuracy due to the difficulty of feature extraction, a high computational cost, and training time. In light of these challenges, the present study puts forth a new method for diagnosing faults in laser gyroscopes using the Kernel Extreme Learning Machine (KELM). Specifically, the proposed method leverages Wavelet Packet Decomposition (WPD) to effectively extract features from the laser gyroscope signal as input for our diagnostic model. Furthermore, the KELM model is trained for fault diagnosis, after which we employ the Improved Dung Beetle Optimizer (IDBO) algorithm to optimize its parameters for enhanced optimization performance. According to the experimental results, our proposed IDBO-KELM model demonstrates a 3.68% improvement in diagnostic accuracy compared to traditional approaches, while also offering the advantages of a shorter training time and increased precision. © 2023, The Authors. The rising data volumes force significant bottlenecks on the 6G for IoT (6G-IoT) network management functions, which limits the control, flexibility, and interoperability among devices, protocols, and end applications. Solutions like software-defined networking (SDN), and network function virtualization (NFV) are proposed with 6G, but the core management operations are still manual. Thus, to automatically upscale these 6G-IoT networks at reduced cost orchestration complexity, zero-touch networks (ZTN) are proposed. ZTN in 6G-IoT allows a high degree of automation and seamless integration of services. The article proposes a scheme, Zero-Load, that integrates ZTN at the core routing functionality of the 6G-IoT applications. We present a load balancing and traffic classification scheme through the ZTN networking stack for core routers. The ZTN router configuration fabric connects applications with the core services. Further, we present a Gaussian kernel-based support vector machine (SVM) classifier at the ZTN automation layer, which classifies the normal traffic and attack traffic. The proposed work is compared for parameters like mean time to response (MTTR), and resolution latency against baseline SDN and NFV schemes. Using ZTN, an average improvement of 32.45% is obtained in MTTR, and 87.89% in resolution latency (against a query). Using the Gaussian RBF kernel, an accuracy of 0.9914 is reported. These results indicate that ZTN-based management paves the way toward a more dense and intelligent 6G-IoT network. © 2023 IEEE.

High performance collaborative tracking problem, requiring a group of independent subsystems to generate a global output that can precisely track the desired reference in a repetitive manner, has found lots of applications in practice. However, for such an important control task, existing iterative learning control (ILC) methods have not considered the constraint on each subsystem's output, which leads to potential risk within the control process. This paper proposes a novel optimisation based ILC method to address the high performance collaborative tracking problem with output constraints. The proposed ILC framework can guarantee not only each subsystem's output constraint is always satisfied during the control process, but also the monotonic convergence of a well-defined performance index to a possibly minimum value. To avoid huge computational complexity for large scale systems, we further apply the idea of the alternative direction method of multipliers (ADMM) to implement the proposed ILC frame-work in a decentralised manner, which allows the resulting decentralised methods to be applied to large scale and changing systems. Moreover, the decentralised ILC method proposed in this paper is suitable for non-minimum phase, heterogeneous and/or homogeneous systems, which is appealing in practice. Convergence properties of the proposed ILC algorithms are analysed rigorously, and numerical examples are given to demonstrate the algorithms' effectiveness.

This study addresses the affine formation maneuver control of cooperative multi-agent systems (MAS) having periodic inter-agent communication for both static and dynamic leader cases. Here, we focus on the leader-follower MASs. The primary aim of the control system is to steer the entire collection of agents to produce required patterns (geometric) along with any required maneuver through the direct control of only few a selected agents referred to as leaders. Most of the existing works are constrained to either the individual agents communicate with each other in continuous-time or the sample-data scenario where the leaders are stationary or have constant acceleration or velocities. Here, we consider the scenarios where the velocities of the leaders can be time-varying or constant. Here, different cases are addressed and some control laws are proposed. Conditions are established to help guarantee the overall stability of the systems. A simulation study is employed for the illustration of our proposed laws. © 2024 IEEE.

automatic guided vehicles are increasingly used in factories. It is obvious that wireless communication with this type of devices is necessary. By default, transmissions are not based on time-deterministic behavior. However, as communication requirements increase, especially for collaborative functions and the need to exchange large and diverse data sets, on-board and off-board systems must be connected directly. This results in time constraints requirements coming from a given direct connection. The article presents and compares the concept and models of traffic management based on time division and access control methods. The created models can be useful for calculating the time characteristics of information delivery and thus for designing communication systems.

Stability Analysis of Connected Vehicle Platoons with Markovian Packet Losses

This article focuses on discussing the effects of inter-vehicular communication on the performance of platoon control. Different from the existing results established under a critical assumption that the fading channels are independent, this paper models the inter-vehicular communication as Markovian packet loss channel which can capture the temporal interdependencies of packet losses. Our aim is to decide whether there exists a distributed controller such that the underlying vehicle platoon can achieve mean square stability (MSS) over Markovian packet loss channels. First, for the scenario with identical Markovian packet losses, we begin by deriving a necessary and sufficient condition for the platoon MSS, which is established by utilizing the stability principles of Markov jump linear systems. Additionally, we propose a numerically verifiable criterion for MSS, which can be validated through the feasibility of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, based on the modified Riccati inequality (MRI), we provide an analytical sufficient condition that ensures MSS for vehicle platoons. This condition is expressed in terms of the information flow topology (IFT) and the statistical parameters of Markov channels. Second, for the case with nonidentical packet dropouts, we introduce a Markovian loss channel based switching (MLCBS) model. Building upon this model, we further propose a sufficient conditon related to IFT and the transition probability matrix, and a distributed controller that is not only easy to implement but also enables the achievement of MSS for vehicle platoons with nonidentical packet dropouts. Ultimately, numerical experiments are performed to validate the obtained outcomes. © 2014 IEEE.

Over the past decade, the continuous surge in cloud computing demand has intensified data center workloads, leading to significant carbon emissions and driving the need for improving their efficiency and sustainability. This paper focuses on the optimal allocation problem of batch compute loads with temporal and spatial flexibility across a global network of data centers. We propose a bilevel game-theoretic solution approach that captures the inherent hierarchical relationship between supervisory control objectives, such as carbon reduction and peak shaving, and operational objectives, such as priority-aware scheduling. Numerical simulations with real carbon intensity data demonstrate that the proposed approach success-fully reduces carbon emissions while simultaneously ensuring operational reliability and priority-aware scheduling.

Existing explainability approaches for convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are mainly applied after training (post-hoc) which is generally unreliable. Ante-hoc explainers trained simultaneously with the CNN are more reliable. However, current ante-hoc explanation methods mainly generate inexplicit concept-based explanations tailored to specific tasks. To address these limitations, we propose a task-agnostic ante-hoc framework that can generate interpretation maps to visually explain any CNN. Our framework simultaneously trains the CNN and a weighting network - an explanation generation module. The generated maps are self-explanatory, eliminating the need for manual identification of concepts. We demonstrate that our method can interpret classification, facial landmark detection, and image captioning tasks. We show that our framework is explicit, faithful, and stable through experiments. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first ante-hoc CNN explanation strategy that produces visual explanations generic to CNNs for different tasks.

In this paper, we show the performance benefits of connecting multiple observers within a control system. We focus here on a particular observer-based control approach, namely the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) with cascade extended state observer (ESO). For this framework, we analyze the control performance in terms of quality of observer estimation, reference tracking, disturbance rejection, sensitivity to measurement noise/unmodeled dynamics, and overall stability. A comprehensive frequency response analysis is performed to study the influence of cascading the observers on the selected quality criteria. To make the inquiry beneficial also to practitioners, FPGA-in-the-loop tests are conducted using a guided missiles gimbaled seeker. They validate the theoretical findings in discrete-time settings, where the sampling time and hardware resource requirements become a factor. The results of the investigation are distilled into guidelines for prospective users on when and how a cascade observer structure can be useful for controls. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.
