In the real world, every nonlinear system is inevitably affected by noise. As an example, a logistic map driven by white noise is studied. Unlike previous studies which focused on the behavior under local parameters to find analytical results, we investigate the whole driven logistic map. For a white noise driven logistic map, its nondivergent interval decreases with increasing white noise. The white noise does not change the equilibrium point and two-cycle intervals in statistics, if the driven logistic map is kept non-divergent. In particular, chaos can be excited by white noise only after the four-cycle bifurcation begins. The latest result is a necessary condition which has not been given in the literature [Int. J. Bifur. Chaos 18 (2008) 509], and it can be deduced from Sharkovsky's theorem. Numerical simulations prove these analytical results.

A networked mobile robot in large networks such as Internet often operates under supervisory control and the discrete commands and decisions from the remote operators normally depend on the feedback scene information. Therefore it must be tolerate of the significant and unpredicted time latency that might mislead the robot for time and scene-dependent operations. A series of strategies are presented in this paper to decrease the latency impact and implement scene specified control of a Internet-based mobile robot. Time stamps are attached to each communication packet of scene video, audio and environment information from the robot to remote operator's computer for display, which then sends back control decision or command of the right time stamps with the scene when needed. By allocating a memory buffer for current display and recent status even including video frames the robot recalls the environment with the event time stamps as searching index, which helps to estimate the exact robot position or operation. Reverse position and motion are conducted according to estimation from the memorized information. The strategies have been introduced to improve a practical networked mobile robot control platform with experiment validity given in detail.

A suit of visualized experimental device was designed. Single bubble rising in stagnant liquid in a translucent rectangular tank was studied using a high-speed video system. Bubbles generated by four orifices with different diameter (1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm) were recorded respectively. Sequences of the recorded high-speed images were processed by digital image processing method. Several parameters of bubble could be obtained from the processed image, such as bubble area, equivalent diameter, geometric center, bubble velocity, bubble acceleration, and so on. Two methods for bubble volume calculation were applied. The first method is geometric method, in which the bubble volume is calculated by reconstructing an ellipsoid based on the shape of bubble in an image. Another one is force analysis method, in which the bubble volume is calculated by analyzing the forces exerted on the bubble in vertical direction, and then the formula of the bubble volume could be derived from Newton's second law. Calculation results of the two methods are analyzed and compared to illuminate the situations they adapt to. Finally, the gas volume fraction of a single bubble in its rising condition in water is calculated.

Regulators are important components in pneumatic system, and their flow-rate characteristics are the key parameters for designers. According to the correlatively international standard and national standard of China, which describe the flow-rate characteristics measurement method of pneumatic regulators, the pressure and the flow are measured point by point, and then the flow-rate characteristics curve is plotted point to point. This method has some disadvantages, such as equipment complexity, much air consumption, and low efficiency. To settle the problems presented above, this paper puts forward a new high efficient and energy saving flow-rate characteristics measurement method of regulators, which is based on the pressure response when charging and discharging to an isothermal tank without any flow meters. The measurement principle, the system and the steps are introduced. And the tracking differentiator is used for the data processing of the pressure difference. Two typical kinds of regulators were experimentally investigated, and their flow-rate characteristics curves were obtained with the new and the conventional method, respectively. Comparatively, it's proved that this new method is feasible because it is not only able to meet the demand of the measurement precision, but also to save energy and improve efficiency. Compared to the conventional method, the new method takes only about 1/10 amount of time and consumes about only 1/30 amount of air. Hopefully it will be able to serve as an international standard of flow-rate characteristics measurement method of regulators.

In this paper, the problem of the stability for a class of stochastic systems with time-varying delay is investigated. By dividing the delay interval into multiple segments and choosing different weighting matrices in the new LyapunovKrasovskii functional, the delay-dependent sufficient criterion is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Neither model transformations nor bounding techniques for cross terms is employed, so the derived criterion is less conservative than the most existing results. Meanwhile, the computational complexity of the obtained stability conditions is reduced because less variables are involved. A numerical example is given to show the application of the proposed method.

Electromagnetic tomography is one kind of electrical impendence tomography which develops faster in recent years. The relation map between Electromagnetic field and measuring electric potential provides adequate prior information and consequently is crucial to image reconstruction of Electromagnetic Tomography (EMT). Firstly the forward problem of EMT is studied in this paper and a new 2-D model of eight homogenous coils is set up in simulative software named COMSOL Multiphysics, finite element method (FEM) is practiced in the solution of forward problem. The simulation on characters of object position, conductivity, and permeability in sensing field is carried out and seriously analyzed. The relation between conductivity of materials and detective electric potential are discussed, revealing that material distribution is mainly presented in the real part of the electric potential. The investigation on object field of EMT is beneficial not only to future reconstruction work but also to optimum design of sensor system.
