In this paper, a novel model-free periodic adaptive ramp metering scheme is presented for a freeway traffic system, which can be formulated as a general MIMO nonlinear system. The proposed method is model-free in nature, and the control inputs and the pseudo Jacobi parameters are updated periodically in a pointwise manner over the entire period, by directly using the I/O data obtained in the preceding periods. The geometrical tracking performance is shown with rigorous analysis. The simulation results illustrate the validity of the proposed method.

To overcome the drawbacks of the high-gain feedback term, a controller with an adaptive compensation term is developed for robust tracking of uncertain dynamic delay systems. It is proved that the introduction of the adaptive compensation term will not affect the stability of the original closed-loop system. In this way, it will be practically flexible to decide whether to include the adaptive compensation term depending on the tracking performance requirements and controller gain constraints. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated by numerical examples.

This paper investigates an H∞ reliable control for discrete-time delayed systems. A practical fault model obeyed a certain probabilistic distribution is proposed. By using Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology, the sufficient conditions for the existence of H∞ reliable control based on fault-distribution-dependent with mean square exponential stable are given. Finally an illustrative example shows the effectiveness of the proposed design procedures.

A method of statistical analysis and verification of the satellite line of sight jitter is discussed. For the case that the jitter measurement is random, the verification of jitter is achieved by estimate the probability that the jitter requirement is not met. The binary analysis method of simulation result is introduced and the miss rate which can be calculated from the result of the binary analysis is proposed for the fact that the statistical mean of the miss rate is an estimate of the probability of jitter requirement misses. The distribution of the miss rate is discussed for the purpose of estimate the statistics of miss rate. To avoid trivial simulation replications in analysis and verification, the bootstrap method is used to obtain a normally distributed miss rate sample, from which the mean miss rate and its variance can be estimated. As thus the confidence interval of miss rate is evaluated to provide a much safer verification result. The credibility and time cost of the method is discussed in case study, and an introductive example is presented to give an introduction of application of the method.
