Nowadays it has become a trend to combining lessons with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with the purpose of cultivating STEM talents for national development. In this paper, we present the novel STEM practice course (NSPC) for middle school students, which is based on the industrial robot educational platform (IREP) and developed via University-Middle school collaboration (UMSC). This course is divided into four STEM related scenario-based activities in order to inspire middle school students’ interest in STEM industries. The course based on IREP and UMSC has been implemented in the Experimental school of Beihang University for five times since 2017 and the result shows that it has a perfect effect on arousing students’ curiosity of STEM occupations, especially the robot field. © 2022, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Aiming at the trajectory control of the tandem robots, this paper proposes a scheme for real-time guidance of the joint position of the end of the tandem robots by using the 3D human body skeleton key points. The scheme is based on the algorithm of the OpenPose which can estimate the depth information of the image, generate the 3D human skeleton from the 2D human bone shape by using a monocular camera. And we use the human wrist coordinates in Cartesian coordinates as the control source to guide the end joint position of the tandem robots, guiding the actions of the tandem robots in real time. Due to the use of monocular cameras, our scheme has a higher cost performance than multi-eye vision systems and complex sensor systems. Our scheme can make the robot imitate human behavior in a human-like manner, such as the task of writing, which is full of human intelligence. At the same time we propose a new solutions for intelligent control of robots. In this paper, we use the OpenPose to extract the coordinates of human body key points, analyze and optimize the performance of it in controlling the tandem robot. Audio-visual speech separation aims to separate distinct voice from an audio mixture of multiple simultaneous speakers. The problem is that visual information can't be fully utilized. We propose a network which can improve the functioning of speech enhancement by using the correlation between audio and vision deeply. We propose that we could extract visual feature information by utilizing speech before using visual information to improve speech enhancement performance. We make a continuous dataset, CRF, to fit the network at the same time. The results demonstrate that the combination of them can improve the performance of speech enhancement effectively. © 2021 ACM.

Natural swarms have inspired various controlling algorithms for swarm robotics, while few of them were programmed in a similar way as the natural swarms. Defining a reliable programming method is still a daunting challenge in swarm robotics. In nature, the information of 3D protein structure is programmed in the sequence of amino acids of the protein. To mimic the programming method of protein folding, we present a platform for investigating protein-folding inspired programming method for robot swarms. This platform includes three parts: a vibration machine, protein-like robot sequences, and recording devices. The preliminary results presented here demonstrated the effectiveness of this platform and the feasibility of protein-folding inspired programming method for robot swarms. © 2023 IEEE.

This study extracted the main factors from a questionnaire,measurement results,and the analysis of sEMG signals to establish a method of evaluating muscle *** measured factors(rating of perceived exertion,heart rate,mileage) and five factors obtained from the analysis of sEMG signals(root mean square,mean absolute value,variance,times of zero crossing,median frequency) were *** the F-test,the correlation analysis,and the principal component analysis,we finally extracted six factors as the main factors that have a big influence on muscle fatigue.

In this paper, a new method of the hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation test of aircraft guidance, navigation and control (GNC) system is proposed based on cable-driven parallel robot and triaxial turntable. The traditional HWIL simulation test methods of the aircraft GNC system, which depends on the five axes motion platform or the six-degree-of-freedom motion system, have a series of problems such as expensive and complex test equipment, single test mode, and monotonous simulation trajectory. Aiming at the needs of teaching and scientific research, this paper proposes a low-cost and efficient HWIL simulation test scheme for GNC system. Through simulation analysis and verification, the scheme has some advantages over traditional methods in workspace and control accuracy. © 2022, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Considering production quality and process safety, incipient fault detection has drawn more and more attention. With the rapid development of machine learning, numerous researches for fault detection based on machine learning have been published. However, almost all machine learning methods used for fault detection need abnormal data to construct models. Unfortunately, it is difficult to obtain sufficient fault samples in practical industrial processes. In addition, the existing fault detection methods are based on single feature extraction strategy. Process monitoring methods with different working principles often extract and utilize different process information. Reasonable integration of features extracted by multiple methods can usually effectively improve the performance of incipient fault detection. Therefore, this paper proposes an one-class machine learning feature ensemble model (OCMLFEM) for incipient fault detection. In OCMLFEM, various one-class machine learning models are constructed as basic detectors. In order to effectively mine the features obtained by basic detectors, a feature ensemble strategy with the technologies of sliding window singular value and principal component analysis is adopted. Then, Tennessee Eastman process is utilized to verify the validity of the proposed detection model, which proves that OCMLFEM has significant superiority.

Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is a crucial technology for enhancing photovoltaic (PV) array power generation efficiency. Under scenarios with partial shading, the output power characteristic curve of a PV array often displays multiple peaks, necessitating the use of global peak-seeking techniques. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and its advanced variants have been widely adopted to address global optimization challenges. However, the current landscape primarily includes PSO based MPPT methods designed for single inverters, which tend to exhibit slow optimization speeds. This paper presents an Internet of Things (IoT)-based multi- inverters approach for global MPPT. In this approach, all inverters within the network are treated as a single particle. This transformation shifts the conventional serial PSO operation into a parallel one, enabling data exchange among inverters to jointly track the maximum power point. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed methodology significantly accelerates the optimization process, effectively mitigating the limitations of traditional approaches.

In this paper, we propose an online learning-based predictive control (LPC) approach designed for nonlinear systems that lack explicit system dynamics. Unlike traditional model predictive control (MPC) algorithms that rely on known system models to optimize controller outputs, our proposed algorithm integrates a reinforcement learning component to learn optimal policies in real time from the offline dataset and real-time data. Additionally, an optimal control problem (OCP)-based optimization framework is incorporated to enhance real-time computational efficiency while ensuring stability during online operation. Moreover, we rigorously establish the super-linear convergence properties of the algorithm. Finally, extensive simulations are performed to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a formation strategy based on the direction coordination and consistency of velocity and the optimization of the initial states is introduced for the formation of multiple hypersonic vehicles. Firstly, considering the mode of leader-follower, a two-dimensional controller is designed based on the dynamic model of hypersonic vehicle, which could realize the consistency of flight path angle and azimuth angle between followers and leader. Secondly, the initial states of the vehicles and the control parameters of the controller are taken as optimization variables, and the deformation of the formation during the whole flight is designed as the objective function. Finally, the combination of the PSACO (particle swarm ant colony optimization) algorithm and the SQP (sequential quadratic programming) algorithm is used to solve the optimization model. The simulation results show that the multiple hypersonic vehicles can achieve better formation flight based on the above methods. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.
