Obtaining information on electricity consumption and operating habits of appliances on the user side of the grid is crucial for optimizing energy rationing and promoting smart grid development. This paper focuses on the household scenario and proposes a two-step non-intrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM) model, targeted on low-frequency (around or less than 1 Hz) load data using event detection and integer program. The first step is to detect appliance switchover and to reshape the load curve into a step-like curve. Based on the reshaped curve, an unsupervised appliance identification model is proposed, combining integer program and event-based method. In the second step, integer program is used for load disaggregation. Our method is tested on a private dataset and the Reference Energy Disaggregation Dataset (REDD). Experiments demonstrate that our method can successfully identify appliances from load profiles and disaggregate them from the load curve. The performance of our method is computationally efficient and promising for practical use. © 2024 IEEE.

As the penetration rate of distributed renewable energy increases year by year, microgrids, as the main loading system of distributed new energy, face great pressure to accommodate new energy. At the same time, the regulation potential of some energy storage devices on the microgrid side has not been fully utilized and has the potential to further accommodate uncertainties. In order to fully utilize the potential of multi type energy storage on the microgrid side, this paper studies a multi-stage stochastic optimization method to ensure the unpredictability of scheduling solutions. Specifically, firstly, a multi-stage descriptive basic operation model of microgrid containing multiple types of energy storage was established;Secondly, based on the basic model, a scenario-tree based multi-stage stochastic optimization model was established;Finally, based on the previous model, a real-time rolling economic dispatch model was established. Numerical tests are implemented on a real enterprise microgrid, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 Asian Control Association.

Security constrained unit commitment (SCUC) problem with uncertainty has become an important research task with the increasing scale of renewable energy access in the power system. Multi-stage robust optimization method has been proved to be effective for solving the UC problem with uncertainty, but it has to deal with the difficulty of excessive computation. The complexity of the UC problem is also increasing due to the rapidly expanding overall size of the power system. A common method to improve the efficiency of solving UC problems is to eliminate redundant security constraints. However, this method is mainly applied to the deterministic UC problems at present. In this paper, a solution framework based on a multi-stage robust optimization method with eliminating redundant security constraints is established. Numerical testing is performed for IEEE 24-bus system and 118-bus system. Most of the security constraints are identified as redundant constraints in different scenarios. The computational efficiency is obviously improved after redundant constraints are eliminated. © 2024 IEEE.

Nonanticipativity and multi-stage robustness are two important requirements that directly determine the feasibility of the multi-stage scheduling problem of microgrid (MG) with energy storage (ES) and renewables. To this end, this paper proposes a novel method for MG with ES considering the use-independent energy-loss rate, which can guarantee nonanticipativity and multi-stage robustness simultaneously. Firstly, the mathematical economic dispatch model considering the use-independent energy-loss rate is established. Secondly, the feasible regions for the variables are given based on the analysis of the constraints' structure, which is the necessary and sufficient condition for the feasible solutions. Thirdly, with the feasible regions, a single-level multi-stage robust method is proposed to directly determine the real-time decisions, where only maximum and minimum scenarios are needed to determine the feasibility and finite representative scenarios are considered to improve the economy. Numerical tests implemented on a real MG system verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Coalition formation(CF) refers to reasonably organizing robots and/or humans to form coalitions that can satisfy mission requirements, attracting more and more attention in many fields such as multirobot collaboration and human-robot collaboration. However, the analysis on CF problems remains *** provide a valuable study reference for researchers interested in CF, this paper proposed a capabilitycentric analysis of the CF problem. The key problem elements of CF are firstly extracted by referencing the concepts of the 5W1H method. That is, objects(who) form coalitions(what) to accomplish missions(why) by aggregating capabilities(how) in a specific environment(where-when). Then, a multi-view analysis of these elements and their correlation in terms of capabilities is proposed through various logic diagrams, structure charts, etc. Finally, to facilitate a deeper understanding of capability-centric CF, a general mathematical model is constructed, demonstrating how the different concepts discussed in this analysis contribute to the overall model.

With the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources (RESs) such as wind, photovoltaic, and hydrogen energy, microgrids face significant challenges due to the inherent intermittency and uncertainty of the output of RESs. The core difficulty in microgrid scheduling problems is how to effectively mitigate the uncertainty with operation constraints guaranteed. To tackle this issue, this paper proposes a multi-stage stochastic scheduling model based on the Scenario-Tree method. Specifically, a basic operational model of the microgrid is first established, which includes multiple stages and multiple types of energy storage devices. Secondly, a multi-stage stochastic optimization model based on the scenario tree approach is further developed, employing a real-time rolling economic dispatch strategy. Numerical tests conducted on the proposed model validate its feasibility and economic efficiency in dealing with uncertainties. © 2024 IEEE.

Sequential recommender systems (SRS) aim to predict users' subsequent choices based on their historical interactions and have found applications in diverse fields such as e-commerce and social media. However, in real-world systems, most users interact with only a handful of items, while the majority of items are seldom consumed. These two issues, known as the long-tail user and long-tail item challenges, often pose difficulties for existing SRS. These challenges can adversely affect user experience and seller benefits, making them crucial to address. Though a few works have addressed the challenges, they still struggle with the seesaw or noisy issues due to the intrinsic scarcity of interactions. The advancements in large language models (LLMs) present a promising solution to these problems from a semantic perspective. As one of the pioneers in this field, we propose the Large Language Models Enhancement framework for Sequential Recommendation (LLM-ESR). This framework utilizes semantic embeddings derived from LLMs to enhance SRS without adding extra inference load from LLMs. To address the long-tail item challenge, we design a dual-view modeling framework that combines semantics from LLMs and collaborative signals from conventional SRS. For the long-tail user challenge, we propose a retrieval augmented self-distillation method to enhance user preference representation using more informative interactions from similar users. To verify the effectiveness and versatility of our proposed enhancement framework, we conduct extensive experiments on three real-world datasets using three popular SRS models. The results show that our method surpasses existing baselines consistently, and benefits long-tail users and items especially.
