Groundbreaking applications such as ChatGPT have heightened research interest in generative artificial intelligence (GAI). Essentially, GAI excels not only in content generation but also signal processing, offering support for wireless sensing. Hence, we introduce a novel GAI-assisted human flow detection system (G-HFD). Rigorously, G-HFD first uses the channel state information (CSI) to estimate the velocity and acceleration of propagation path length change of the human induced reflection (HIR). Then, given the strong inference ability of the diffusion model, we propose a unified weighted conditional diffusion model (UW-CDM) to denoise the estimation results, enabling detection of the number of targets. Next, we use the CSI obtained by a uniform linear array with wavelength spacing to estimate the HIR’s time of flight and direction of arrival (DoA). In this process, UW-CDM solves the problem of ambiguous DoA spectrum, ensuring accurate DoA estimation. Finally, through clustering, G-HFD determines the number of subflows and the number of targets in each subflow, i.e., the subflow size. The evaluation based on practical downlink communication signals shows G-HFD’s accuracy of subflow size detection can reach 91%. This validates its effectiveness and underscores the significant potential of GAI in the context of wireless sensing. © 2024, CC BY.

In traditional impedance control model,the contact force can be reduced ***,there exists a tracking error at the stable state due to the existence of stiffness,which is not conducive to tackle tasks based on high performance position control for ***,this paper proposes a novel dynamic interaction model:fractional order impedance control,to address this ***,an integral item is added into the traditional impedance model to eliminate the tracking ***,the idea of fractional order is introduced to make the orders of inertia,damping,and stiffness change from integers to fractions to achieve more significant compliant ***,simulation results validate the advantages of proposed fractional order impedance control and it can be also employed to absorb/increase,hold/keep,and dissipate/decrease system energy to achieve jumping,bouncing and friendly contact,***,stability analysis and three criterions of choosing and tuning 6 classic parameters in the proposed fractional order impedance control are both given out.

The four-step transportation model plays an important role in urban planning. The quality of the first phase, i.e. trip generation, determines the performance of the global course. The majority of trip generation forecasting models highly rely on mathematical derivation and have many predictor variables during the prediction, which leads to low accuracy of results and requires laboriously hand-crafted design of input vectors. This paper is the first to introduce the gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) algorithm for trip generation prediction, and harmonizes such a powerful machine learning method with traditional urban planning requirements to achieve better prediction performance. Unlike the commonly used linear regression method, GBDT can automatically perform feature selection and model the non-linear relationships between input and output variables. Experimental results on real-world residential travel census in Beijing prove that the GBDT model significantly outperforms the baseline and can forecast the trip generation more accurately. © 2021 IEEE.

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication technology offers a potential and promising solution to support 5G and B5G wireless networks in dynamic scenarios and applications. However, mobility introduces many challenges as well as opportunities to mmWave applications. To address these problems, we conduct a survey of the opportunities and technologies to support mmWave communications in mobile scenarios. Firstly, we summarize the mobile scenarios where mmWave communications are exploited, including indoor wireless local area network (WLAN) or wireless personal area network (WPAN), cellular access, vehicle-to-everything (V2X), high speed train (HST), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and the new space-air-ground-sea communication scenarios. Then, to address users' mobility impact on the system performance in different application scenarios, we introduce several representative mobility models in mmWave systems, including human mobility, vehicular mobility, high speed train mobility and ship mobility. Next we survey the key challenges and existing solutions to mmWave applications, such as channel modeling, channel estimation, antiblockage, and capacity improvement. Lastly, we discuss the open issues concerning mobility-aware mmWave communications that deserve further investigation. In particular, we highlight future heterogeneous mobile networks, dynamic resource management, artificial intelligence (AI) for mobility and integration of geographical information, deployment of large intelligent surface and reconfigurable antenna technology, and finally, the evolution to Terahertz (THz) communications. Smart railway transportation systems aim to make the trains operate in a more intelligent and flexible manner. Reliable train-to-train communication, which can increase the efficiency and safety of the train operation, is getting more concern in recent researches, and different communication solutions can be applied to carry out the data communication. However, its propagation and safety analysis is not systematically put forward. In this work, the structure and working principle of a train-to-train communication system are proposed. In order to have a better performance, multi-communication channels are involved. Three different modems are applied to make sure that the system can implement the communication task in different situations. What is more, the long-range communication modem provides not only long distance communication but also distance measurement between two trains. The propagation analysis based on different carrier waves and application scenarios is discussed. The system safety is evaluated by means of Petri nets, and the analysis procedure can be reused for analysing different system structures. © 2019 The Institution of Engineering and Technology.

With more electrical and electronic equipment applied into the railway system, much more data can be collected and then the big data era of railway is coming. By employing the maximal information coefficient (MIC), the big data analysis of rail equipment accidents is studied to investigate the effect of the updating of rail equipment. The rail equipment accident data set of 25 years (from 1990 to 2014) is separated into three subsets corresponding to the period of the occurrence time of accidents. For every subset, the contributing factors to accident damage, to accident severity, and to accident cause are analyzed, respectively. The results show that the variation trend of the number of rail equipment accidents is more consistent with the variety of railroad service miles rather than carloads. And the factor of highway-rail grade crossings is an important one which accords with the facts. However, a seemingly surprising result is found that there will be more contributing factors to accident severity and to accident causes with more equipment applied into the railway system as time goes on. © 2019, © 2019 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC and The University of Tennessee.

GNSS-based continuous and accurate train positioning is one of the key technologies for advanced train operations such as train virtual coupling. However, GNSS-based train positioning faces significant challenges in real-world scenarios due to environmental complexities and signal interferences. Considering this issue, this paper presents an approach for modeling and performance analysis of GNSS-based train positioning systems using Colored Petri Nets (CPNs). By systematically modeling the GNSS signal reception and processing process, the performance of the positioning system under various environment scenarios is evaluated. The system model integrates three types of interference signals (i.e., Amplitude Modulation (AM) signals, Frequency Modulation (FM) signals, and pulse signals), while incorporating environmental factors such as terrain obstructions and tunnel shielding. Additionally, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithm is employed to process GNSS observation data, providing accurate train position estimations. The simulation results demonstrate that signal interferences and complex environmental conditions significantly affect the GNSS-based positioning accuracy. This study offers a comprehensive framework for evaluating the performance of GNSS-based train positioning systems in different scenarios, highlighting critical factors that influence the positioning accuracy and stability.

A non-contact volume measurement method for irregular objects is proposed in this paper based on 3D reconstruction technology, where a linear laser and a camera are used. The line-surface model of laser surface and feature points is first established in a camera coordinate system. The point cloud coordinates of measured object are calculated using the geometric measurement principle and transformed into the world coordinate system from the camera coordinate system. The differential object point cloud is obtained by subtracting the reconstructed model from the initial background model, and the object volume is calculated by integrating the differential depth point cloud data. To extract accurate center of light stripe, a fitting algorithm is proposed using the truncated gaussian distribution. The measurement error is less than 4.5% at the distance of 2 meters away from the measurement devices. The experimental results show that the proposed method can accurately reconstruct 3D objects and accurately measure the irregular objects volume. © 2018 IEEE.
