Any-Angle Routing Algorithm for Microfluidic Biochips Driven by Flow Path

Continuous-flow microfluidic biochips (CFMBs) have become a hot research topic in recent years due to their ability to perform biochemical assays automatically and efficiently. For the first time, PathDriver+ takes the requirements of the actual fluid transportation into account in the design process of CFMBs and implements the actual fluid transport and removal, and plans separate flow paths for each transport task, which have been neglected in previous work. However, PathDriver+ does not take full advantage of the flexibility of CFMBs routing because it only considers the optimization of flow channel length for the global routing in the mesh model, except for the detailed routing. In addition, PathDriver+ only considers the X architecture, while the existing work shows that the any-angle routing can utilize the routing resources more efficiently and shorten the flow channel length. To address the above issues, we propose a flow path-driven arbitrary angle routing algorithm, which can improve the utilization of routing resources and reduce the flow channel length while considering the actual fluid transportation requirements. The proposed algorithm constructs a search graph based on constrained Delaunay triangulation to improve the search efficiency of routing solutions while ensuring the routing quality. Then, a Dijkstra-based flow path routing method is used on the constructed search graph to generate a routing result with a short channel length quickly. In addition, in the routing process, channel reuse strategy and intersection optimization strategy are proposed for the flow path reuse and intersection number optimization problems, respectively, to further improve the quality of routing results. Control Logic Routing for Continuous-Flow Microfluidic Biochips Based on Deep Reinforcement Learning

With the advancement of electronic design automation, continuous-flow microfluidic biochips have become one of the most promising platforms for biochemical experiments. This chip manipulates fluid samples in milliliters or nanoliters by utilizing internal microvalves and microchannels, and thus automatically performs basic biochemical experiments, such as mixing and detection. To achieve the correct bioassay function, the microvalves deployed inside the chip are usually managed by a multiplexer-based control logic, and valves receive control signals from a core input through the control channel for accurate switching. Since biochemical reactions typically require high sensitivity, the length of control paths connecting each valve needs to be reduced to ensure immediate signal propagation, and thus to reduce the signal propagation delay. In addition, to reduce the fabrication cost of chips, a vital issue to be addressed in the logic architecture design is how to effectively reduce the total channel length within the control logic. To address the above issues, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based control logic routing algorithm to minimize the signal propagation delay and total control channel length, thereby automatically constructing an efficient control channel network. The algorithm employs the dueling deep Q-network architecture as the agent of the deep reinforcement learning framework to evaluate the tradeoff between signal propagation delay and total channel length. Besides, the diagonal channel routing is implemented for the first time for control logic, thus fundamentally improving the efficiency of valve switching operations and reducing the fabrication cost of the chip. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can effectively construct a high-performance and low-cost control logic architecture. © 2025 science Press. All rights reserved.

Mamba in Speech: Towards an Alternative to Self-Attention

Transformer and its derivatives have achieved success in diverse tasks across computer vision, natural language processing, and speech processing. To reduce the complexity of computations within the multi-head self-attention mechanism in Transformer, Selective State Space Models (i.e., Mamba) were proposed as an alternative. Mamba exhibited its effectiveness in natural language processing and computer vision tasks, but its superiority has rarely been investigated in speech signal processing. This paper explores solutions for applying Mamba to speech processing by discussing two typical speech processing tasks: speech recognition, which requires semantic and sequential information, and speech enhancement, which focuses primarily on sequential patterns. The experimental results confirm that bidirectional Mamba (BiMamba) consistently outperforms vanilla Mamba, highlighting the advantages of a bidirectional design for speech processing. Moreover, experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of BiMamba as an alternative to the self-attention module in the Transformer model and its derivates, particularly for the semantic-aware task. The crucial technologies for transferring Mamba to speech are then summarized in ablation studies and the discussion section, offering insights for extending this research to a broader scope of tasks.

Multifunctional therapeutic peptides(MFTP)hold immense potential in diverse therapeutic contexts,yet their prediction and identification remain challenging due to the limitations of traditional methodologies,such as extensive training durations,limited sample sizes,and inadequate generalization *** address these issues,we present AMHF-TP,an advanced method for MFTP recognition that utilizes attention mechanisms and multi-granularity hierarchical features to enhance *** AMHF-TP is composed of four key components:a migration learning module that leverages pretrained models to extract atomic compositional features of MFTP sequences;a convolutional neural network and selfattention module that refine feature extraction from amino acid sequences and their secondary structures;a hypergraph module that constructs a hypergraph for complex similarity representation between MFTP sequences;and a hierarchical feature extraction module that integrates multimodal peptide sequence *** with leading methods,the proposed AMHF-TP demonstrates superior precision,accuracy,and coverage,underscoring its effectiveness and robustness in MFTP *** comparative analysis of separate hierarchical models and the combined model,as well as with five contemporary models,reveals AMHFTP’s exceptional performance and stability in recognition tasks.

Unveiling the Superiority of Unsupervised Learning on GPU Cryptojacking Detection: Practice on Magnetic Side Channel-based Mechanism

Ample profits of GPU cryptojacking attract hackers to recklessly invade victims’ devices, for completing specific cryptocurrency mining tasks. Such malicious invasion undoubtedly obstructs normal device usage and wastes computation resources. To resist the threat of GPU cryptojacking, existing works aim to timely detect and clear away it, by distinguishing the dissimilitude between it and legitimate applications. However, these detection mechanisms inappropriately rely on two conflict cornerstones, manifested in leveraging mutable samples of illegitimate cryptojacking to design supervision-based detection models requiring samples with stable patterns. This limitation compromises the practicability of existing detection mechanisms in the face of mutable cryptojacking samples. To fill the gap, we explore the superiority of unsupervised learning in handling this issue and further propose an unsupervised manner-enabled detection mechanism named MagInspector, only using legitimate applications’ magnetic signatures from GPU side channels for model construction. MagInspector innovates in training an unsupervised autoencoder network by an adversarial mode that well learns the stable signature patterns of legitimate applications, while incompatible with mutable cryptojacking ones. In the process of model training, we elaborately extract mutual energy cumulation distribution features to represent legitimate applications to overcome the impact of their inter-type differences. Meanwhile, a locality sensitive hashing-driven outlier removal algorithm is designed to enhance MagInspector’s robustness to the noise samples. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted on GPUs covering four generations of common NVIDIA architectures and two generations of AMD architectures;the results show that applying MagInspector to mutable cryptojacking signature detection achieves a significant average accuracy improvement of 25.5% and 17.8%, respectively. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

ASSD: An AI-Synthesized Speech Detection Scheme Using Whisper Feature and Types Classification

Current efforts in AI-synthesized speech detection often suffer from decreased performance due to detectors overfitting to irrelevant features or fitting features specific to certain synthesis methods. This issue becomes severe when facing unseen synthesis methods or real-world scenarios. To address these challenges, we first construct a multi-scenario dataset named PolyFake. Subsequently, we propose an AI-Synthesized Speech Detection Scheme using Whisper Feature and Types Classification (ASSD). In the feature processing stage, this method adopts a dual-stream network. Firstly, it utilizes the proposed SC_Encoder to separate and reconstruct redundant features, thereby reducing attention on irrelevant features. Meanwhile, it extracts features through a pre-trained Whisper_Encoder to augment feature generalization ability. Then, features extracted by the two encoders are decomposed, concatenated, and fused in both time and frequency domains, concurrently constructing time and frequency domain graphs. Through heterogeneous stacking graph attention, temporal and spectral information is fused to obtain generalized features. In the detection stage, employing a multi-task learning strategy, we introduce a multi-classification task for predicting synthesis method types to further segregate generalized features, obtaining common features of different synthesis methods for synthesized speech detection. The proposed method achieves lower equal error rate compared to state-of-the-art methods, with a relative improvement of 27% in generalization performance under a 2% increase in parameter count, on the In_the_wild and ASVspoof 2021 DF dataset and the testing scenarios of PolyFake.

GBFRS: Robust Fuzzy Rough Sets via Granular-ball computing

Fuzzy rough set theory is effective for processing datasets with complex attributes, supported by a solid mathematical foundation and closely linked to kernel methods in machine learning. Attribute reduction algorithms and classifiers based on fuzzy rough set theory exhibit promising performance in the analysis of high-dimensional multivariate complex data. However, most existing models operate at the finest granularity, rendering them inefficient and sensitive to noise, especially for high-dimensional big data. Thus, enhancing the robustness of fuzzy rough set models is crucial for effective feature selection. Muiti-garanularty granular-ball computing, a recent development, uses granular-balls of different sizes to adaptively represent and cover the sample space, performing learning based on these granular-balls. This paper proposes integrating multi-granularity granular-ball computing into fuzzy rough set theory, using granular-balls to replace sample points. The coarse-grained characteristics of granular-balls make the model more robust. Additionally, we propose a new method for generating granular-balls, scalable to the entire supervised method based on granular-ball computing. A forward search algorithm is used to select feature sequences by defining the correlation between features and categories through dependence functions. Experiments demonstrate the proposed model’s effectiveness and superiority over baseline methods. Network topology planning is an essential multi-phase process to build and jointly optimize the multi-layer network topologies in wide-area networks (WANs). Most existing practices target single-phase/layer planning, and are incapable of satisfying all rigorous topological structure constraints (e.g., dual-homing rings) defined by network standards and operators, especially in large-scale networks. These significantly limit their usability and performance in production networks. We consider a general topology planning problem with typical structure constraints over three essential phases (greenfield, reconfiguration, and site expansion) and topological layers (optical, IP, and routing topologies). We present, T3Planner, a novel practical solver to this problem in production. Specifically, we develop a structure-driven encoder based on graph neural network (GNN) for concise structure encoding, and design a new learning framework with optical-centric layer compression/reconstruction and rule-aided reinforcement learning (RL) for fast convergence and high performance. Extensive experiments on nine real topologies demonstrate that T3Planner scales to large optical networks with hundreds of sites, saves 46.6% cost, and supports $3.12\times $ more demand when compared to related existing approaches.

Video Character Social Relationship Recognition (VCSRR) requires a comprehensive consideration about spatio-temporal and multi-modal clues in videos. Most existing methods mainly focus on integrating multi-modal clues and modeling interactions among characters. However, they fail to discover key clues in the complex video data or fully understand the clues related to social relationships. In this article, we propose a novel Large Language Model Enhanced key Clues Selection (LEKCS) framework to address the aforementioned issues. The core of LE-KCS is to mine multi-scale key clues from the perspectives of time, space and multi-modality, then transfer the knowledge about social relationships of the Large Language Model to VCSRR for understanding the selected clues. We evaluated LEKCS on the MovieGraphs dataset and the experimental results indicate that our proposed LE-KCS achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2025 IEEE.

Task Prioritization in Multiagent Environments: A Novel Approach Using Nash Q-Learning

—With the rapid proliferation of smartphones and various terminal devices, edge computing has gained increasing importance in overcoming computational limitations and enhancing service quality through task offloading. However, most existing approaches handle tasks on a first-come, first-served basis, neglecting task prioritization, which is critical in real-world scenarios where tasks have different levels of urgency and resource requirements. This paper addresses the challenge of effective task prioritization in multi-agent task offloading by proposing a Nash Q-learning-based strategy. Our methodology involves optimizing task allocation decisions using Nash Q-learning to integrate Nash equilibrium principles, thereby enhancing adaptability and dynamic decision-making capabilities within a multi-agent environment. The proposed algorithm is evaluated through extensive simulations, comparing total delay, resource utilization, and task success rates across various task offloading strategies. The results demonstrate that our Nash Q-learning approach outperforms conventional techniques by dramatically lowering overall latency, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining high task success rates. This work demonstrates the efficacy of Nash Q-learning for dynamically setting priorities for tasks in multi-agent edge computing environments, providing a robust framework for effective resource management and collaborative task completion. And also highlight the potential of Nash Q-learning in advancing intelligent task management in edge computing, suggesting its applicability in real-world, resource-constrained environments. © 2025 IEEE.
