Reversible data hiding scheme using prediction neural network and adaptive modulation mapping

Prediction error expansion (PEE) is an attractive approach for reversible data hiding (RDH). The key issue for PEE-based RDH is to improve the prediction accuracy and design a better modulation mapping. This paper proposes a novel prediction error modulation (PEM) scheme, which comprises a prediction neural network and a modulation mapping rule generation algorithm. We use the multi-scale feature extraction (MSFE) module and the residual dense networks (RDN) to construct the prediction neural network. In the proposed RDH scheme, the cover image is divided into two parts, the reference pixel set and the cover pixel set, based on the chessboard pattern. The prediction network serves to predict the values of the cover pixel set using the reference pixel set. An optimization model is set up to adaptively determine the optimal modulation mapping for data hiding based on the specific prediction-error histogram and payload constraint. Experimental results show the superiority of the proposed prediction neural network and the optimized modulation mapping compared with related works. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This study presents an overview on intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)-enabled sensing and communication for the forthcoming sixth-generation(6G) wireless networks, in which IRSs are strategically deployed to proactively reconfigure wireless environments to improve both sensing and communication(S&C) performance. First, we exploit a single IRS to enable wireless sensing in the base station's(BS's) non-line-of-sight(NLoS) area. In particular, we present three IRS-enabled NLoS target sensing architectures with fully-passive, semi-passive, and active IRSs, respectively. We compare their pros and cons by analyzing the fundamental sensing performance limits for target detection and parameter estimation. Next, we consider a single IRS to facilitate integrated sensing and communication(ISAC), in which the transmit signals at the BS are used for achieving both S&C functionalities, aided by the IRS through reflective beamforming. We present joint transmit signal and receiver processing designs for realizing efficient ISAC, and jointly optimize the transmit beamforming at the BS and reflective beamforming at the IRS to balance the fundamental performance tradeoff between S&C. Furthermore, we discuss multi-IRS networked ISAC, by particularly focusing on multi-IRS-enabled multi-link ISAC, multi-region ISAC, and ISAC signal routing, respectively. Finally, we highlight various promising research topics in this area to motivate future work.

The emergence of multi-access edge computing(MEC)aims at extending cloud computing capabilities to the edge of the radio access *** the large-scale internet of things(IoT)services are rapidly growing,a single edge infrastructure provider(EIP)may not be sufficient to handle the data traffic generated by these *** of the existing work addressed the computing resource shortage problem by optimizing tasks schedule,whereas others overcome such issue by placing computing resources on ***,when considering a multiple EIPs scenario,an urgent challenge is how to generate a coalition structure to maximize each EIP’s gain with a suitable price for computing resource block corresponding to a *** this end,we design a scheme of EIPs collaboration with a market price for containers under a scenario that considers a collection of service providers(SPs)with different budgets and several EIPs distributed in geographical ***,we bring in the net profit market price model to generate a more reasonable equilibrium price and select the optimal EIPs for each SP by a convex *** we use a mathematical model to maximize EIP’s profits and form stable coalitions between EIPs by a distributed coalition formation *** results demonstrate that our proposed collaborative scheme among EIPs enhances EIPs’gain and increases users’surplus.

Selecting Central and Divergent Samples via Leading Tree Metric Space for Semisupervised Learning

The distribution of the labeled data can greatly affect the performance of a semisupervised learning (SSL) model. Most existing SSL models select the labeled data randomly and equally allocate the labeling quota among the classes, leading to considerable unstableness and degeneration of performance. This study unsupervisedly constructs a leading forest that forms another metric space, based on which it is convenient to define the fuzzy membership function to characterize central and divergent samples and select both types with fuzzy Xor logic. The labeling quota can, thus, be allocated adaptively among different classes. The proposed determinate labeling strategy can generally improve the performance for most SSLs. Especially, when combined with the kernelized large margin component analysis, it produces a novel semisupervised classification model. In addition, the multimodal issue in SSL is effectively addressed by the multigranular structure of leading forest that readily facilitates multiple local metrics learning. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieved competitive efficiency and encouraging accuracy when compared with the state-of-the-art methods. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

Heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks (HGNNs) are pivotal for extracting semantic and structural information from heterogeneous graphs. Traditional HGNN implementations often grapple with the challenges of excessive metapath instances, requiring substantial storage or incurring high instance-matching overhead. These methods typically suffer from redundant instance encoding and costly semantic graph construction. Addressing these issues, we introduce an advanced Metapath Graph (MG) abstraction that encapsulates the structural information of all metapath instances within a compact representation. This approach significantly reduces storage demands, eliminates redundant instance encodings, and foregoes the need for constructing semantic graphs, thereby facilitating rapid HGNN inference. Our software-based system, MetaHG, leverages layerwise encoding and aggregation to avoid redundancies without the necessity of semantic graphs. It incorporates a fast, lightweight partitioning method to efficiently manage large graphs. Distinctively, MetaHG seamlessly integrates with both dynamic HGNNs and homogeneous GNNs, unlike conventional systems. Comparative evaluations demonstrate that MetaHG surpasses the state-of-the-art BFS- and DFS-based HGNN systems, MAGNN and the software implementation of MetaNMP, by 42.5× and 4.53×, respectively, on average. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

With the rapid developing technology of the Internet of Things, intelligent connected vehicles are facing more and more serious cybersecurity threats and challenges. With the developing of cybersecurity technology for intelligent connected vehicles it has posed a comprehensive challenge to the existing cybersecurity technologies. Intrusion detection is an important research field of cybersecurity. An intrusion detection scheme based on sequential tri-way decisions of multiple granularities (S3WD-MG) is proposed for Intelligent Connected Vehicles. The S3WD-MG method obtains feature sets of multi-granularities through the auto-encoder of deep learning. This method combines multiple granularities and sequential tri-way decisions to make decisions by the most appropriate for network behavior through by the decision threshold. The experiment results on NSL-KDD show that S3WD-MG method does have a good performance in intrusion detection. Compared with other models, our proposed S3WD-MG method has a higher detection’s rate and the robustness of algorithm is stronger. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd. 2025.

The key-value separation is renowned for its significant mitigation of the write amplification inherent in traditional LSM trees. However, KV separation potentially increases performance overhead in the management of Value region, especially for garbage collection (GC) operation that is used to reduce the redundant space occupation. In response, many efforts have been made to optimize the GC mechanism for KV separation. However, our analysis indicates that such solution based on trade-offs between CPU and I/O overheads cannot simultaneously satisfy the three requirements of KV separated systems in terms of throughput, tail latency, and space usage. This limitation hinders their real-world application. In this paper, we introduce AegonKV, a "three-birds-one-stone" solution that comprehensively enhances the throughput, tail latency, and space usage of KV separated systems. AegonKV first proposes a SmartSSD-based GC offloading mechanism to enable asynchronous GC operations without competing with LSM read/write for bandwidth or CPU. AegonKV leverages offload-friendly data structures and hardware/software execution logic to address the challenges of GC offloading. Experiments demonstrate that AegonKV achieves the largest throughput improvement of 1.28-3.3 times, a significant reduction of 37%-66% in tail latency, and 15%-85% in space overhead compared to existing KV separated systems. © 2025 FAST. The distributed nature of federated learning makes it highly susceptible to backdoor attacks, which aim to induce the model to produce incorrect results when specific data is input. Existing defense methods based on distance calculations mostly use one single distance, which can be easily circumvented by backdoor attacks. Therefore, we conducted research on the combination of multiple distances. Based on this, we propose a backdoor defense algorithm based on multi metrics, which evaluates models through distance calculation and normalization to select benign models for aggregation. To verify the effectiveness of our method, we conducted experiments on three datasets, and the results prove that our method can provide good defense without reducing the model's main task accuracy. © 2025 The Authors.

Represented by evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence algorithms, nature-inspired metaheuristics have been successfully applied to recommender systems and amply demonstrated effectiveness, in particular, for multiobjective recommendation. Owing to the population-based search paradigm, these algorithms can produce a number of recommendation lists, making diverse tradeoffs between multiple metrics and meeting the requirements of accuracy, novelty, diversity, and other user preferences. However, these algorithms are criticized for the low efficiency of the optimization process, especially when the number of users is large. To address this issue, this article proposes an evolutionary multitasking-based recommendation method, where each task corresponds to a user and all the tasks are optimized simultaneously, thus highly improving the efficiency of recommendation. To enhance the convergence speed, all the users are divided into multiple populations according to the similarity between their preferences, where each population evolves with internal knowledge transfer between users, and all the populations evolve with external knowledge transfer between populations. Experimental results on various datasets verify that the proposed method can better balance between multiple metrics than classical and deep neural network-based recommendation methods and exhibits significantly higher efficiency than evolutionary multiobjective optimization-based recommendation methods. © 2024 IEEE. Average filtering plays a vital role in image smoothing tasks. However, existing quantum image weighted average filtering methods suffer from high circuit complexity. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved quantum color image weighted average filtering algorithm and its corresponding quantum circuit. First, we improve the quantum circuit to prepare classical color images into a quantum state. Then, an improved quantum divider is developed, and a weighted average filter is constructed using basic quantum image processing modules. Next, to enhance the universality of the filter, a quantum comparator with lower circuit complexity is used to design a noise detection module for distinguishing noise from real signals. Finally, a quantum circuit for color image weighted average filtering is designed, and simulations are conducted on the IBM Quantum Experience (IBM Q) platform to verify the feasibility of our algorithm. The analysis shows that compared with existing methods, this method significantly reduces the circuit complexity and has better filtering performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
