India's air quality deteriorated significantly in 2023, ranking third worst globally, highlighting the urgency for effective monitoring and mitigation measures. To comprehend past trends and predict future patterns, historical air pollution data from seven urban areas in Chennai was analyzed using the XGBoost Algorithm. This study aims to gain insights into Chennai's air quality, identify abnormalities, and issue timely warnings to the public and governing authorities. XGBoost was employed to forecast AQI, NO2, PM2.5, NOx, PM10, CO, SO2, NH3, and Ozone levels, outperforming traditional LSTM, Prophet, and ARIMA models. Evaluation using RMSE and MAE scores revealed XGBoost's efficacy, with scores of 20.65 and 14.35, respectively. The research highlights regions like Alandur, Arumbakkam, and Manali with notable concentrations of contaminants, emphasizing the need for immediate action. These findings highlight the significance of utilizing advanced algorithms for accurate air quality forecasting and proactive pollution management. © 2024 IEEE.

Robust Multi-Dialect End-to-End ASR Model Jointly with Beam Search Threshold Pruning and LLM

This paper aims to develop a novel robust multi-dialect end-to-end ASR system with beam search threshold pruning. The efficacy of our proposed model is evaluated using word error rate (WER). Our key contributions are: (1) To develop an end-to-end ASR system using attention-based neural network architecture and analyze the effectiveness of two features such as MFCC and log mel filter bank energies on multiple speech dialect corpora including American, Britain, and Indian accents;(2) To integrate beam search threshold pruning as a decoding mechanism to reduce the decoding time (3) To conduct an experimental analysis to test the model performance and compare the results against baseline system. (4) Post processing analysis are carried out using Llama2-7B based large language model(LLM) for enhancing the performance of proposed ASR system. The proposed model significantly improves performance by 1.91% and 4.29% over clean and noisy speech in librispeech corpus. Similarly, for the Indian accented speech, the model attains an average WER of about 6.6%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The human brain has a simple time analyzing and processing images. The brain is able to rapidly deconstruct and distinguish an image's various components when the eye perceives it. With the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as its foundation, this research suggests deep learning conceptual models. When the algorithms are compared, it becomes clear that CNN-based classification of handwritten alphabets performs better than other algorithms in terms of accuracy. The Manual Net, Alex Net, and LeNet Architectures are among the CNN algorithms employed in this research. The convulational layer, max pooling, flattening, feature assortment, rectifier lined unit, and completely linked softmaxx layers are each components of the aforementioned designs. The proposed network is tested using an image dataset comprising 530 training photos and 2756 testing images. The top precision and cost-efficient model will be used in the Django context to build a handler line for supplying the appeal to be recognized and obtaining the productivity outcome of recognized appeal. © 2024 IEEE.

Detecting deepfake content presents a formidable challenge, necessitating advanced methodologies. This paper proposes a holistic strategy employing Facenet-pytorch, MTCNN, and InceptionResnetV1 for robust deepfake detection. Facenet-pytorch serves as the cornerstone for facial feature recognition, while MTCNN efficiently identifies faces in images during preprocessing. InceptionResnetV1 scrutinizes visual details to detect subtle anomalies indicative of manipulation, such as unnatural facial expressions and incongruent lip synchronization. Our approach underscores the importance of maintaining a delicate balance between accurate detection and individual privacy rights. By leveraging these advanced models, we achieve significant strides in differentiating manipulated content from authentic media, contributing to the ethical deployment of deepfake detection technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Improving insulation performance with woven flax/PP hybrid composite reinforced by synthetic alumina and aluminum trihydrate

The addition of microparticles of aluminum trihydrate (ATH) and alumina (AL) to flax-based polypropylene (PP) composites enhances their mechanical strength and fire resistance. The composite materials were produced via the vacuum bagging technique. Various weight ratios of fillers (ATH & AL) to polypropylene were obtained through the process of ultrasonication (3, 6, 9, and 12 wt%). The mechanical properties of the hybrid composites were thoroughly evaluated, including their thermal conductivity, flammability, flexural and tensile strengths, and moisture absorption. Based on XRD analysis, it has been determined that the flax composite contained AL and ATH microparticles. The research indicates that the use of additional synthetic fillers in the flax-based composite reduces both the burning and moisture absorption rates, in comparison to typical flax/PP composites. The incorporation of a hybrid composite consisting of 9 wt % AL and 3 wt % ATH results in a 10.36% enhancement in tensile strength and a 3.21% improvement in flexural strength. The improved interfacial bonding strength between the fibers and resin can be attributed to the uniform dissemination of ATH/AL particles. The stress transfer rate will be enhanced as a result of the efficient cross-linking it produces. This was verified by the utilization of scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The AL/ATH hybrid composites possess a thermal conductivity of 0.0596 W/mk as an additional characteristic. The thermal insulation property of the composites remains unaffected by the presence of flame retardant AL and ATH particles, as their thermal conductivity is below 0.065 W/mk. These composites are suitable for applications in the automotive, aerospace, and construction sectors, where lightweight, durable, and fire-resistant materials are needed for interior panels, insulation materials, and structural components. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The emergence of new machine learning methods has led to their widespread application across various domains, significantly advancing the field of artificial intelligence. However, the process of training and inferring machine learning models relies on vast amounts of data, which often include sensitive private information. Consequently, the privacy and security of machine learning have encountered significant challenges. Several studies have demonstrated the vulnerability of machine learning to privacy inference attacks, but they often focus on specific scenarios, leaving a gap in understanding the broader picture. We provide a comprehensive review of privacy attacks in machine learning, focusing on two scenarios: centralized learning and federated learning. This article begins by presenting the architectures of both centralized learning and federated learning, along with their respective application scenarios. It then conducts a comprehensive review and categorization of related inference attacks, providing a detailed analysis of the different stages involved in these attacks. Moreover, the article thoroughly describes and compares the existing defense methods. Finally, the article concludes by highlighting open questions and potential future research directions, aiming to contribute to the ongoing competition between privacy attackers and defenders. © 2020 IEEE.

Wildfires pose a great threat to human safety and property arising from both natural and human causes. According to a technical assessment by the Forest Survey of India more than 95% of fires are of anthropogenic origin. Wildfires erupt due to burning of fossils by local communities for crop rotation, camp fires without proper supervision etc. Climate change further elevates the risk by fostering dry conditions. Traditionally, wildfire prediction relied on statistical models and expert judgment. However, the emergence of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques has significantly improved the accuracy of forest fire prediction. The objective of this work is to prevent wildfires and save the ecosystem. In this work, LightGBM(Light Gradient Boosting Machine) and LSTM(Long Short-Term Memory) machine learning models are utilized to predict the forest fire. Both models exhibit high F1 scores of 97% and 95% accuracy in forest fire prediction, enabling the development of reliable prediction systems. The results of these ML-based models may aid in identifying highrisk areas, optimizing prevention measures, refining evacuation plans, and guiding firefighting efforts. © 2024 IEEE.
