Due to the urgent requirements of mass data processing in the field of astronomy, with the advent of network grid computing technique, scientific workflow technique was presented and quickly adopted for distributed astronomic data processing. However, current existing scientific workflow systems are too complex and enormous in system deploying and system manipulation. Few people can master it in short period. In this paper, we presented a lightweight scientific workflow system, CSWF, which is specially designed for astronomy. All required fundamental functions, such as task customization, data movement, provenance and task re-run mechanisms, are fully implemented. Comparing with the existing scientific workflow system, C-SWF provides many useful features such as simple, high performance and easy to deploy in order to meet the requirements of astronomers. © 2009 IEEE.

A semantic annotation method for web database query result which is under the condition of uncertain schema information is proposed in this paper by adopting the reinforcement learning method. Using domain ontology to annotate the query result, this paper takes the mapping between domain ontology and query result as a process of finding the best strategy. By training the numeric attribute value, we can find the best strategy to match and then annotate the query result. By collecting web databases from different domains, the experiments indicate that the approach proposed can annotate the web database query result properly and improve the efficiency of annotating. ©2009 IEEE.

The equalization-cancellation (EC) model has been extensively studied for expressing binaural masking level difference (BMLD) in psychoacoustics. Few research focuses on applying this psychoacoustic model to speech processing applications, such as speech enhancement. In this paper, we propose a two-stage binaural speech enhancement with Wiener filter (TS-BASE/WF) based on the EC model. In this proposed TS-BASE/WF, interfering signals are first estimated by equalizing and cancelling the target signal based on the EC model, and a time-variantWiener filter is then applied to enhance the target signal given noisy mixture signals. The main advantages of the proposed TS-BASE/WF are: (1) effectiveness in dealing with non-stationary multiple-source interfering signals;(2) success in localizing the target sound source after processing. These advantages were confirmed by comprehensive experiments in different spatial scenarios in terms of speech enhancement and sound localization. ©2009 IEEE.

The domain knowledge has a direct impact on the result of question - answering (Q & A) in the restricted domain Question Answering System (QA). In this paper, a method of answer extraction for domain Chinese question-and-answer (Q&A) is proposed, which based on the analysis of interrogative sentence and the answer type, carrying on the text retrieval with the help of the domain knowledge and obtaining the relevant paragraphs of the question as the candidate answer. For the question of numeral or list entity type, extracted the question center related domain entity as the answers by adopting the naming entity recognition. For the definition questions, the sentences or paragraphs with higher relevance can be extracted to become the answer based on the relevance ranking between the candidate sentences or paragraphs and questions by combined the computing method of keywords weighting and the method of semantic similarity between the sentences and questions. Experimented on the answer extraction in Yunnan tourism domain, the results show that more remarkable effects have been achieved by adopting the method of answer extraction from domain Chinese question-and-answer. © 2009 IEEE.

The generic crawler provides more help to people for finding information in WWW. However, it has some drawback in terms of precision and efficiency because of its generality and no specialty. In this paper, we address two issues of the topical web crawler. One is how to make the definition of the topic;the other is how to sort of links to be downloaded in the queue efficiently. It aims to visit only relevant pages, and get a great scale of hyperlinks which link to the relevant pages. The crawl method in this paper is a novel one, which is based on the semi-structured features of the website and content information. The results of experiment show that it is a very effective method for focused crawler. © 2009 IEEE.

Standard IR treats the whole document as relevant, the implication of this being that using terms from non-relevant sections of these documents for IR may also cause query drift. This paper investigates a novel retrieval model that aims to concentrate more user's attention on the parts of the text that possess a high density of relevant information, while, at the same time, to provide enough information to support their retrieval decisions. It is proposed that an automatically generated summary of each document, biased to a user's query, can provide such a function. Based on the experimental results on TREC collections, it is showed the retrieval model based on summary is more effective than standard one based on document. 1553-9105/ Copyright © 2009 Binary Information Press.

Machines in many manufacturing units are often grouped into cells in order to lower work in process levels, reduce set-up and production lead-time while retaining flexibility for new products. Such cells are formed based on the similarities of machines and parts to be processed in them. In this paper the Self Organising Map (SOM) method, a technique in Artificial Neural Network, has been used for cell formation. The purpose of this work is to visualise the clusters data structure by the SOM color-coding and labelling via the SOM map nodes in such a way that the part families are processed in that machine cells. The component plane of SOM is most effective to visualise the machine-part cell formation Four Test problems adopted from the literature and one problem generated randomly are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed SOM algorithm. Two performance measures have been used to find the goodness of the output clusters. Computational experience with the proposed techniques is presented and the results are compared with those reported in the literature and found to be useful to both practitioners and researchers. A context-dependent approach to query expansion in information retrieval

In practical applications of information retrieval, as the search engine, the query user submitted contains only several keywords usually. This will cause unmatched issue between words of relevant documents and user's query and have more serious negative effects on the performance of information retrieval. On the basis of analyzing of process of producing query, this paper puts forward a new method of query expansion on the basis of context and global information. The approach extracts related terms between documents and query through context and global information. The expansion terms are selected according to their relation to the whole query. At the same time, the position information between terms are considered. The experiment result on TREC data collection shows the method proposed by the paper, has 11-29% of the improvement all the time more than the language modeling method without expanding. Compared to the popular approach of query expansion, pseudo feedback, the method proposed in this paper has the competed average precision. 1553-9105/ Copyright © 2009 Binary Information Press.

Life Cycle Assessment(LCA) is a full-scale environmental management tool which has an encouraging prospect for development. In the framework of LCA, this paper compares the synthetic evaluation of key iron and steel enterprises of China based on establishing an environmental evaluating indicator system. Derived from analyzing the main constraint factors of the environmental sustainability for iron and steel enterprises of China, this paper puts forward suggestions to achieve sustainable development in iron and steel enterprises.

Sensor networks are composed of large numbers of sensors that are equipped with a processor, memory, wireless communication capabilities, sensing capabilities and a power source (battery) on board. While in most existing sensor networks, sensors are static, some modern applications involve sensors that are mobile. Most existing localization algorithms were designed to work well either in networks of static sensors or networks in which all sensors are mobile. However, these existing sensor nodes localization schemes assume a benign environment, where all sensor nodes are supposed to provide correct reference information. When the sensor networks are deployed in a hostile environment, where sensor nodes can be compromised, such an assumption does not hold anymore. In this paper, we propose an new WSN localization algorithms, which based on the entropy function. It is different from the existing localization algorithms, which is an improvement algorithm. In many complex environment, such as pressure field, temperature field and magnetic field etc, we can use this localization scheme to localize sensor nodes, and results show that its performance is well.
