Thermally stratified flow of hybrid nanofluids with radiative heat transport and slip mechanism: multiple solutions

Research on flow and heat transfer of hybrid nanofluids has gained great significance due to their efficient heat transfer *** fact,hybrid nanofluids are a novel type of fluid designed to enhance heat transfer rate and have a wide range of engineering and industrial *** by this evolution,a theoretical analysis is performed to explore the flow and heat transport characteristics of Cu/Al_(2)O_(3) hybrid nanofluids driven by a stretching/shrinking ***,this work focuses on the physical impacts of thermal stratification as well as thermal radiation during hybrid nanofluid flow in the presence of a velocity slip *** mathematical modelling incorporates the basic conservation laws and Boussinesq *** formulation gives a system of governing partial differential equations which are later reduced into ordinary differential equations via dimensionless *** efficient numerical solver,known as bvp4c in MATLAB,is utilized to acquire multiple(upper and lower)numerical solutions in the case of shrinking *** computed results are presented in the form of flow and temperature *** most significant findings acquired from the current study suggest that multiple solutions exist only in the case of a shrinking surface until a critical/turning ***,solutions are unavailable beyond this turning point,indicating flow *** is found that the fluid temperature has been impressively enhanced by a higher nanoparticle volume fraction for both *** the other hand,the outcomes disclose that the wall shear stress is reduced with higher magnetic field in the case of the second *** simulation outcomes are in excellent agreement with earlier research,with a relative error of less than 1%.

Significant progress has been made in developing systems that can automatically recognize human activities, largely thanks to deep learning models and sensor data. However, high performance and comprehensibility are often at odds in these systems. The aim of this research is to enhance both the accuracy and understandability of models that use sensors for human activity recognition (HAR). We present a new convolutional neural network design which takes input from accelerometers and gyroscopes across multiple data streams. This allows efficient capture of time and frequency characteristics. Additionally, we put forward an attention module that identifies informative patterns in the sensor signals to shed light on the model's predictions. Experiments were conducted on a benchmark dataset of common daily movements gathered from ubiquitous sensors. Our model achieves state-of-the-art accuracy exceeding prior deep learning techniques. The attention visuals provide transparency into which sensor segments are most relevant for accurate activity classification. This validates improved model interpretability. Our multi-channel architecture pushes sensor-based HAR forward through heightened predictive performance. We offer original perspectives to create reliable, precise systems for HAR. © 2024 IEEE.

The coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19), caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2), is an infectious disease constituting the most significant challenge to human and socio-economic development across the globe. Many studies have been conducted to gain more knowledge on the dynamic spread of SARS-COV-2 in the community of people. In this study, a new mathematical model made up of a system of non-linear ODEs is designed and meticulously analyzed to understand the dynamics of transmission of COVID-19. Specific necessary properties exhibited by the COVID-19 model are examined through the theory of non-negativity and boundedness of solutions. The threshold parameter measuring the invasion potential of COVID-19 in the population is worked out by employing the Next Generation Matrix approach. The model is shown to have two endemic equilibria whenever basic reproduction number R₀<1. The analysis of the endemic equilibrium stability is explored using a suitably constructed Lyapunov function. It is shown that the COVID-19 model is globally asymptotically stable whenever the associated basic reproduction number is beyond unity. The Latin Hypercube Sampling or Partial Rank Correlation Coefficient is utilized to examine how parameter changes affect the COVID-19 spread in the population. Furthermore, the study considers six optimal control interventions to flatten the curve of the coronavirus pandemic in society. Numerical experiments of the COVID-19 model are executed in MatLab to corroborate the qualitative analysis of the model. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature B.V. 2024.

The accurate prediction of the friction angle of clays is crucial for assessing slope stability in engineering *** study addresses the importance of estimating the friction angle and presents the development of four soft computing models:YJ-FPA-MLPnet,YJ-CRO-MLPnet,YJ-ACOC-MLPnet,and *** of all,the Yeo-Johnson(YJ)transformation technique was used to stabilize the variance of data and make it more suitable for parametric statistical models that assume normality and equal *** technique is expected to improve the accuracy of friction angle prediction *** friction angle prediction models then utilized multi-layer perceptron neural networks(MLPnet)and metaheuristic optimization algorithms to further enhance performance,including flower pollination algorithm(FPA),coral reefs optimization(CRO),ant colony optimization continuous(ACOC),and cuckoo search algorithm(CSA).The prediction models without the YJ technique,***-MLPnet,CRO-MLPnet,ACOC-MLPnet,and CSA-MLPnet,were then compared to those with the YJ technique,***-FPA-MLPnet,YJ-CRO-MLPnet,YJ-ACOC-MLPnet,and *** these,the YJ-CRO-MLPnet model demonstrated superior reliability,achieving an accuracy of up to 83%in predicting the friction angle of clay in practical engineering *** improvement is significant,as it represents an increase from 1.3%to approximately 20%compared to the models that did not utilize the YJ transformation technique.

When acting as a privacy-enhancing technology, synthetic data generation (SDG) aims to maintain a resemblance to the real data while excluding personally-identifiable information. Many SDG algorithms provide robust differential privacy (DP) guarantees to this end. However, we show that the strongest class of SDG algorithms-those that preserve marginal probabilities, or similar statistics, from the underlying data-leak information about individuals that can be recovered more efficiently than previously understood. We demonstrate this by presenting a novel membership inference attack, MAMA-MIA, and evaluate it against three seminal DP SDG algorithms: MST, PrivBayes, and Private-GSD. MAMA-MIA leverages knowledge of which SDG algorithm was used, allowing it to learn information about the hidden data more accurately, and orders-of-magnitude faster, than other leading attacks. We use MAMA-MIA to lend insight into existing SDG vulnerabilities. Our approach went on to win the first SNAKE (SaNitization Algorithm under attacK … ε) competition.

In this article, the problem of global fixed-time stabilization for a class of high-order uncertain nonlinear systems has been investigated. Quite different from traditional methods, a novel finite-time control scheme is presented for the first time based on a serial of exponential functions and fractional power integration with nested sign functions, which can guarantee that the convergent time of the states of the closed-loop systems is finite and independent of any initial conditions by the simple choice of design parameters. The remarkable contribution of this article lies in the fact that it provides an alternative to manipulate the possibility of initial states being far from the origin. As a practical application, the finite-time stabilizing design of maglev systems is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and the superiority of the proposed strategy. © 2013 IEEE.

Effects of Catheter, Stenosis and Thrombosis in Non-Newtonian Blood Flow Through Narrow Arteries with Clinical Applications: A Mathematical Model

This study analyses the rheological characteristics of non-Newtonian Carreau fluid model for nanoparticles suspended flow of blood through constricted arteries in the presence of stenosis, thrombosis and catheters. Analytical expressions, such as, velocity distribution, temperature, pressure gradient, wall shear stress and resistive impedance to flow are obtained by implementing the perturbation method and through the extensive use of MATLAB and MATHEMATICA programming tools, the results are presented graphically and tabularly. It is found that temperature of the fluid lessens with the increase in stenosis shape parameter and depth of stenosis which results in the reduction of flow of blood in the artery. It is discovered that a rise in Weissenberg number results in the decrease of fluid’s velocity and skin friction. The magnitude of resistance to blood flow reduces with the upsurge of flow rate and stenosis shape parameter and the reverse character is recognized when Weissenberg number, the depth and axial displacement of blood clot increases. When the angioplasty catheter of radius 0.3 is inserted to the clear the constrictions in the artery, the resistance to flow surges considerably in the range of 6.75–8.78 when the stenosis position extends in the axial direction from 0.1 to 0.3. It is also recorded that when the catheter guidewire radius is 0.18, the pressure gradient in blood flow is found to vary in the range of 1.21–1.43 when the axial variable z varies from 0.2 to 0.8 and it decreases from 1.36 to 1.32 when the blood clot position displaces from 0.2 to 0.6. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited.

In this work, we investigate the security performance of an underlay cognitive radio network (CRN) with ambient backscatter communication (AmBC), where a backscattering device (BD) shares the spectrum and the receivers with the secondary user. Different from the related work, we consider a secondary user transmitter (ST) with multiple antenna in an AmBC-CRN with multiple receivers and multiple passive eavesdroppers. The ST performs joint antenna-user selection to enhance its security performance and overcome the performance degradation caused by BD interference. Considering the Nakagami-m fading model, closed-form expressions are derived for the secrecy outage probability for both the ST and the BD transmissions. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to validate the derived closed-form expressions. Numerical results show that employing joint antenna-user selection enhances the ST security performance by exploiting antenna and user diversity. © 2024 IEEE.

It is important to make a safety assessment of different hypothetical scenarios in actual nuclear power plants (NPPs). Some of the common scenarios analyzed are coolant primary tube rupture. In this paper, instantaneous coolant loss occurred at 75% and 50%. The event was simulated under abnormal conditions using the TRETON code, which is used to treat light water reactor (WWER) fuel assemblies. It is based on an algorithm to solve the heat transfer function at multiple levels and develop a porous body. In the study, the operating modes of the main circulation pump on an incomplete number of fuel rods provided acceptable levels of uneven flow and heating;The temperature of the coolant, cladding and fuel did not exceed the limits. © 2022 IEEE.
