A significant number of the world’s population is dependent on rice for survival. In addition to sugarcane and corn, rice is said to be the third most growing staple food in the world. As a consequence of intensive usage of man-made fertilizers, paddy plant diseases have also risen at a faster pace in current history. Exploring the possible disease spread and classifying to detect the consequent impact at an early stage will prevent the loss and improve rice production. The core task of this research is to recognize and quantify different kinds of infections (disease) affecting the paddy plant crop, such as brown spots, bacterial blight, and leaf blasts. Both detection and recognition are carried out based on the risk analysis of paddy crop leaf images. We suggest a Deep Convolutional Neuro-Fuzzy Method (DCNFM) that combines one of the advanced machine learning variant, namely deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and uncertainty handler called fuzzy logic. The synthesis has the benefits of both fuzzy logic and DCNNs when dealing with unstructured data, extracting essential features from imprecise and ambiguous datasets. From the crop field, continuous image data are captured through image sensors and fed as a primary input to the proposed model to analyze the risk and then later to classify them for precise recognition/detection of the disease. The detection/recognition rate of the DCNFM is found to be 98.17% which is comparatively found to be effective in comparison with the traditional CNN model. © 2021 River Publishers

Sensor-based human activity recognition (HAR) is a widely explored research area focused on identifying human behaviors by analyzing sensor-generated data, particularly one-dimensional time series signals. Such HAR systems have many real-world applications, including elderly health monitoring and athlete performance evaluation. This paper presents Ens-DeepNet, a novel ensemble learning approach designed for recognizing complex human activities using data from wearable sensors. While deep neural networks have proven effective for HAR tasks, their performance can be further improved through ensemble strategies. To this end, we propose an ensemble architecture that combines five distinct deep learning models - convolutional neural network (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and bidirectional GRU (BiGRU). These models are integrated using a majority voting scheme to boost classification accuracy. The proposed method is evaluated using the UTwente dataset, which includes sensor data collected from ten individuals via tri-axial accelerometers and gyroscopes. Experimental findings demonstrate that the ensemble model achieves an impressive accuracy of 99.28%, surpassing the performance of each standalone model, whose accuracies range from 92.77%to 97.34%. This performance gain is particularly notable in recognizing complex activities such as eating, drinking coffee, smoking, and conversing. © 2025 IEEE.

In addition to traditional approaches, several computerized techniques have been developed to enhance the results. The automation in the medical domain considerably reduced the burden and improved disease diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation. With the advent of automation, the medical domain has greatly reduced the burden of diagnosing diseases, developing treatment plans, and implementing them. This research aims to develop image-processing assisted detection of Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DF) from digital photographs. Digital photographs are used to assist in diagnosing Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DF). As part of the developed tool, (i) images are collected and resized, (ii) Otsu/Kapur and Hummingbird-optimizer thresholding is supported, (iii) level-set segmentation is used to extract the DF region, and (iv) the developed scheme is compared with the binary mask and its performance is verified. A total of 300 images are examined in this work, and MATLAB software is used to conduct the experiments. Comparing Otsu + LS with Kapur + LS, the overall result achieved with Kapur’s enhanced image is better than that of Otsu + LS. Motorcyclist behavior recognition (MBR) is a significant factor in improving road safety and preventing accidents. Inertial sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and magnetometers, have shown promising potential for capturing the dynamic behavior of motorcyclists. However, existing approaches often require complex models and significant computational resources, limiting their deployment in real-world scenarios. This study presents a MotoNeXt architecture, which is a light deep residual network for correctly identifying the behavior of motorcyclists using data from inertial sensors. Our approach leverages the power of deep learning while maintaining a compact model size, making it suitable for resource-constrained environments. The proposed network incorporates multi-kernel residual blocks to facilitate the learning of hierarchical features and improve gradient flow during training. We evaluate our method on a publicly available benchmark dataset, MB-IMU, collected from multiple riders under various riding conditions. Experimentation has shown that our lightweight model achieves cutting-edge performance, outperforming a variety of existing techniques. In Scenario I, using accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer data, MotoNeXt achieved an accuracy result of 78.90088% along with an F1-score of 81.56738%. According to Scenario II, which included additional sensor data such as VelInc, OriInc, and Euler angles, MotoNeXt further improved its performance, achieving an accuracy result of 83.29735% along with an F1-score of 84.95352%. The proposed approach offers a practical solution for real-time MBR, enabling the development of intelligent transportation systems and rider assistance technologies. Our experiments highlight the effectiveness of lightweight deep learning models in extracting meaningful patterns from inertial sensor data. This opens up opportunities for further investigation in this field. © 2024 IEEE.

With the ever-expanding ubiquity of the Internet, wireless networks have permeated every facet of modern life, escalating concerns surrounding network security for users. Consequently, the demand for a robust Intrusion Detection System (IDS) has surged. The IDS serves as a critical bastion within the security framework, a significance further magnified in wireless networks where intrusions may stem from the deluge of sensor data. This influx of data, however, inevitably taxes the efficiency and computational speed of IDS. To address these limitations, numerous strategies for enhancing IDS performance have been posited by researchers. This paper introduces a novel feature selection method grounded in Support Vector Machine (SVM) and harnessing the innovative modified Aquila Optimizer (mAO) for Intrusion Detection Systems in Wireless Sensor Networks. To evaluate the efficacy of our approach, we employed the KDD'99 dataset for testing and benchmarking against established methods. Multiple performance metrics, including accuracy, detection rate, false alarm rate, feature count, and execution time, were utilized for assessment. Our comparative analysis reveals the superiority of the proposed method, with standout results in terms of feature reduction, detection accuracy, and false alarm mitigation, yielding significant improvements of 11%, 98.76%, and 0.02%, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023.

Conventional deep learning methods have considerable hurdles when it comes to Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) and gesture identification in noisy and uncertain situations. A Fuzzy Logic-Based Deep Learning (Fuzzy DL) method is presented in this work to improve the resilience, accuracy, and adaptability of human gesture recognition in a variety of scenarios. We test several algorithms on various datasets, lighting situations, and noise levels, such as CNN, LSTM, Transformer, and Fuzzy DL. The outcomes show that Fuzzy DL functions better than other systems, retaining 91.0% accuracy at high noise levels and reaching 97.5% accuracy under typical circumstances. In comparison to traditional structures, it also shows faster inference times and a lower mean squared error. Its superiority is further demonstrated by comparative analysis on precision, recall, and F1-score. This study presents a robust and noise-resilient solution for real-world HMI applications, including as assistive systems and virtual interfaces. The outcomes indicate that incorporating fuzzy logic with DL substantially enhances gesture recognition in difficult environments. © 2025 IEEE.

Accurate fall detection for orthopedic walker users is essential for timely medical intervention and enhancing safety for elderly and mobility-impaired individuals. This paper introduces a new method using a bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU) neural network to detect falls and classify motion patterns in walker usage. We use the Walker dataset, which includes inertial measurement unit sensor data for four motion classes: idle, motion, step, and fall. The dataset consists of 6-axis IMU readings (3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope) from sensors mounted on orthopedic walkers, with around 620 samples per class. Our BiGRU model leverages temporal dependencies in both forward and backward directions to improve classification accuracy. We assess the model's performance in two scenarios: binary classification (fall vs. non-fall) and multi-class classification of all four motion types. The proposed architecture shows strong performance, achieving 99.79% accuracy and a 99.73% F1-score in binary classification, and 98.51% accuracy and a 98.50% F1-score in multi-class classification. It outperforms traditional deep learning models like CNN, LSTM, and GRU. The experimental results confirm the effectiveness of bidirectional processing in capturing temporal motion patterns, indicating significant potential for realtime fall detection in walker-assisted mobility. The high precision and recall values in both scenarios demonstrate the model's reliability for practical healthcare monitoring applications. © 2025 IEEE.

Nowadays, the computerisation and information systems need very fast, easier and secure data analysis models. So, blockchain technology and deep learning concepts play important roles for data security and analysis in field of healthcare applications. Blockchain technology has optimal reliability in various sectors like healthcare, security, information management, smart home, etc. In this paper, blockchain technology is used for the healthcare system to provide a secure and reliable data transmission. Furthermore, IoT-based wearable devices are used to collect the data from the patients. Moreover, deep belief network (DBN) is proposed to classify the obtained data in order to predict the type of disease or problems of the patients. The experimental results shows that the proposed framework and classification model abruptly outperforms when compared with other existing techniques. The efficiency of the proposed framework is analysed based on the performance metrics like throughput and latency. The obtained loss ratio for the proposed model seems very less of 0.0126 when compared with other existing techniques like MLP, SVM, ANN, and CNN. The accuracy obtained for the proposed DBN classifier is above 95% for the increase in the number of patients. Copyright © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
