Adaptive Occlusion Face Recognition Feature Fusion Network Based on Precise Guidance Mask Extraction

The uncertainty in the position and size of occluding objects greatly affects the extraction of identity features in facial recognition, which is a challenge that existing methods fail to effectively address. To tackle this issue, this paper introduces a novel feature fusion network for occluded facial recognition that adaptively handles arbitrary occlusions and accurately extracts occlusion information masks. The network effectively mitigates the impact of occlusions on facial identity features through a feature fusion module. The proposed method employs an occlusion classification module and an occlusion classification loss to precisely guide the extraction of accurate occlusion masks. Subsequently, an occlusion-aware hybrid attention module is introduced, which focuses on the relationship between facial features and occlusion masks across channel and spatial dimensions. This fusion strategy enables the extraction of facial identity features that are resilient to occlusions. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method holds a significant advantage in handling facial recognition tasks with arbitrary occlusions. On the LFW and MF1 synthetic occlusion datasets, the average accuracy rates reached 93.19% and 72.57%, respectively, showing improvements of 1.7 and 2.39 percent points over mainstream methods. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2025.

Research on key technologies of edge cache in virtual data space across WAN

The authors of this paper have previously proposed the global virtual data space system (GVDS) to aggregate the scattered and autonomous storage resources in China’s national supercomputer grid (National Supercomputing center in Guangzhou, National Supercomputing center in Jinan, National Supercomputing center in Changsha, Shanghai Supercomputing center, and computer Network Information center in Chinese Academy of sciences) into a storage system that spans the wide area network (WAN), which realizes the unified management of global storage resources in China. At present, the GVDS has been successfully deployed in the China National Grid environment. However, when accessing and sharing remote data in the WAN, the GVDS will cause redundant transmission of data and waste a lot of network bandwidth resources. In this paper, we propose an edge cache system as a supplementary system of the GVDS to improve the performance of upper-level applications accessing and sharing remote data. Specifically, we first designs the architecture of the edge cache system, and then study the key technologies of this architecture: the edge cache index mechanism based on double-layer hashing, the edge cache replacement strategy based on the GDSF algorithm, the request routing based on consistent hashing method, and the cluster member maintenance method based on the SWIM protocol. The experimental results show that the edge cache system has successfully implemented the relevant operation functions (read, write, deletion, modification, etc.) and is compatible with the POSIX interface in terms of function. Further, it can greatly reduce the amount of data transmission and increase the data access bandwidth when the accessed file is located at the edge cache system in terms of performance, i.e., its performance is close to the performance of the network file system in the local area network (LAN).

LSM-based key-value(KV) storage plays an important role in many storage systems, but LSM-tree has caused high I/O amplification issues. The popular KV separation technique reduces I/O amplification by storing only keys in the LSM-tree and values in separated log-structured files. However, as for delete-intensive and update-intensive workloads, the existing KV separated design limits its high performance due to its imperfect value-log-oriented Garbage Collection (GC) mechanism. This exposes a series of problems such as untimely garbage collection and high I/O overhead. In this paper, we propose an efficient and adaptive garbage collection mechanism, uCleaner, which is suitable for KV-separated LSM-trees. In contrast to the existing garbage collection mechanism based on threshold-triggered lazy collection, we divide log-structured files into segments and uCleaner is a mechanism for actively initiating garbage collection requests based on segment utilization, forming an adaptive garbage collection between lazy collection and active segment request collection. Moreover, we present a cost-benefit analysis scoring mechanism based on segment utilization and segment duration, which automatically scores each segment to be cleaned, and the GC mechanism chooses the segment with the highest score from all segments for cleaning first. In addition, based on cost-benefit model, we propose a method to separate hot and cold data to reduce the I/Otraffic caused by the phenomenon of valid data movement during garbage collection. Experiments show that after using uCleaner, the overall throughput is increased by 1.18 times while saving 2.83% in write size. © 2022 IEEE.

Data mining and knowledge discovery are essential aspects of extracting valuable insights from vast datasets. Neural topic models (NTMs) have emerged as a valuable unsupervised tool in this field. However, the predominant objective in NTMs, which aims to discover topics maximizing data likelihood, often lacks alignment with the central goals of data mining and knowledge discovery which is to reveal interpretable insights from large data repositories. Overemphasizing likelihood maximization without incorporating topic regularization can lead to an overly expansive latent space for topic modeling. In this paper, we present an innovative approach to NTMs that addresses this misalignment by introducing contrastive learning measures to assess topic interpretability. We propose a novel NTM framework, named ContraTopic, that integrates a differentiable regularizer capable of evaluating multiple facets of topic interpretability throughout the training process. Our regularizer adopts a unique topic-wise contrastive methodology, fostering both internal coherence within topics and clear external distinctions among them. Comprehensive experiments conducted on three diverse datasets demonstrate that our approach consistently produces topics with superior interpretability compared to state-of-the-art NTMs. © 2024 IEEE.

Early diagnosis of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) can inhibit the progression and improve femoral head preservation. The radiograph difference between early ONFH and healthy ones is not apparent to the naked eye. It is also hard to produce a large dataset to train the classification model. In this paper, we propose Asymmetric-Sensitive Transformer (AsT) to capture the uneven development of the bilateral femoral head to enable robust ONFH detection. Our ONFH detection is realized using the self-attention mechanism to femoral head regions while conferring sensitivity to the uneven development by the attention-shared transformer. The real-world experiment studies show that AsT achieves the best performance of AUC 0.9313 in the early diagnosis of ONFH and can find out misdiagnosis cases firmly. Previous studies consider little on using dependency-type messages in the E2E-ABSA task. Studies using dependency-type messages just contact the dependency-type message and word embedding vectors, which may not fully fuse the context feature and information from the dependency type. This paper proposes a new model called Dependency-Type Weighted Graph Convolution Network (DTW-GCN) to compose dependency-type messages and word embedding. We use a type-weighted matrix to combine the dependency-type message, and DTW-GCN could fuse the dependency-type message and word embedding vectors. Experiments conducted on three benchmark datasets verify the effectiveness of our model. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2024.

Silicon carbide fiber reinforced silicon carbide matrix(SiC_(f)/SiC)composite is the key cladding material of nuclear fuel,which determines the safety and reliability of nuclear fuel storage and *** replacement of its storage and transportation scenario needs to be completed by the manipulator,but the application of SiC_(f)/SiC wear,fracture,and nuclear leakage in the snatching process of brittle-flexible-rigid contact in the irradiation environment has been seriously restricted due to unclear understanding of the damage ***,the effects of irradiation dose and clamping load on the friction characteristics of the contact interface between SiC_(f)/SiC clad tube are studied in this paper,and the effects of irradiation parameters and clamping force on the static friction coefficient of the contact interface between the clad tube and flexible nitrile are *** on the Greenwood-Williamson tribological model,a numerical model of the shape and structure of the contact micro-convex at the micro-scale of the clamping interface is constructed by introducing the multi-surface integral,and finally verified by *** research results show that there is a unique“Irradiation suppression zone”under the clamping condition of SiC_(f)/SiC cladding tube under the nuclear irradiation environment,and the growth of static friction coefficient slows down until stagnates after irradiation reaches a certain extent(600 kGy),and there will be a decline when the irradiation dose continues to increase,among which the clamping force of 15.2 N within the irradiation interval of 1,000 kGy can meet the safety of nuclear environment *** results of this paper can provide an important theoretical basis and application guidance for the safe operation of SiC_(f)/SiC cladding tubes in the storage and transportation clamping process.
