Implicit Discourse Relation Recognition (IDRR), which infers discourse logical relations without explicit connectives, is one of the most challenging tasks in natural language processing (NLP). Recently, pre-trained language models (PLMs) have yielded impressive results across numerous NLP tasks, but their performance still remains unsatisfactory in IDRR. We argue that prior studies have not fully harnessed the potential of PLMs, thereby resulting in a mixture of logical semantics, which determine the logical relations between discourse arguments, and general semantics, which encapsulate the non-logical contextual aspects (detailed in Sec.1). Such a mixture would inevitably compromise the logic reasoning ability of PLMs. Therefore, we propose a novel method that trains the PLMs through two semantics enhancers to implicitly differentiate logical and general semantics, ultimately achieving logical semantics enhancement. Due to the characteristic of PLM in word representation learning, these two semantics enhancers will inherently confront with each other, facilitating an augmentation of logical semantics by disentangling them from general semantics. The experimental results on PDTB 2.0 dataset show that the confrontation approach exceeds our baseline by 3.81% F1 score, and the effectiveness of the semantics confrontation method is validated by comprehensive ablation experiments. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Due to over-abundant information on the Web, information filtering becomes a key task for online users to obtain relevant suggestions and how to extract the most related item is always a key topic for researchers in various fields. In this paper, we adopt tools used to analyze complex networks to evaluate user reputation and item quality. In our proposed Accumulative Time Based Ranking (ATR) algorithm, we take into account the growth record of the network to identify the evolution of the reputation of users and the quality of items, by incorporating two behavior weighting factors which can capture the hidden facts on reputation and quality dynamics for each user and item respectively. Our proposed ATR algorithm mainly combines the iterative approach to rank user reputation and item quality with temporal dependence compared with other reputation evaluation methods. We show that our algorithm outperforms other benchmark ranking algorithms in terms of precision and robustness on empirical datasets from various online retailers and the citation datasets among research publications. Therefore, our proposed method has the capability to effectively evaluate user reputation and item quality.

At present, there exist some problems in granular clustering methods, such as lack of nonlinear membership description and global optimization of granular data boundaries. To address these issues, in this study, revolving around the parabolic granular data, we propose an overall architecture for parabolic granular modeling and clustering. To begin with, novel coverage and specificity functions are established, and then a parabolic granular data structure is proposed. The fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm is used to obtain the numeric prototypes, and then particle swarm optimization (PSO) is introduced to construct the parabolic granular data from the global perspective under the guidance of principle of justifiable granularity (PJG). Combining the advantages of FCM and PSO, we propose the parabolic granular modeling and optimization (PGMO) method. Moreover, we put forward attribute weights and sample weights as well as a distance measure induced by the Gaussian kernel similarity, and then come up with the algorithm of weighted kernel fuzzy clustering for parabolic granularity (WKFC-PG). In addition, the assessment mechanism of parabolic granular clustering is discussed. In summary, we set up an overall architecture including parabolic granular modeling, clustering, and assessment. Finally, comparative experiments on artificial, UCI, and high-dimensional datasets validate that our overall architecture delivers a good improvement over previous strategies. The parameter analysis and time complexity are also given for WKFC-PG. In contrast with related granular clustering algorithms, it is observed that WKFC-PG performs better than other granular clustering algorithms and has superior stability in handling outliers, especially on high-dimensional datasets. © 2020 IEEE.

Multi-objective optimization (MOO) has become an influential framework for various machine learning problems, including reinforcement learning and multitask learning. In this paper, we study the black-box multi-objective optimization problem, where we aim to optimize multiple potentially conflicting objectives with function queries only. To address this challenging problem and find a Pareto optimal solution or the Pareto stationary solution, we propose a novel adaptive stochastic gradient algorithm for black-box MOO, called ASMG. Specifically, we use the stochastic gradient approximation method to obtain the gradient for the distribution parameters of the Gaussian smoothed MOO with function queries only. Subsequently, an adaptive weight is employed to aggregate all stochastic gradients to optimize all objective functions effectively. Theoretically, we explicitly provide the connection between the original MOO problem and the corresponding Gaussian smoothed MOO problem and prove the convergence rate for the proposed ASMG algorithm in both convex and non-convex scenarios. Empirically, the proposed ASMG method achieves competitive performance on multiple numerical benchmark problems. Additionally, the state-of-the-art performance on the black-box multi-task learning problem demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed ASMG method. © 2024 12th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2024. Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common cancers and ranks the third in cancer mortality all over the *** goal of this study was to identify potential hub-genes,highlighting their functions,signaling pathways,and candidate drugs for the treatment of GC *** used publicly available next generation sequencing(NGS)data to identify differentially expressed(DE)*** top DE genes were mapped to STRING database to construct the protein-protein interaction(PPI)network and top hub genes were selected for further *** found a total of 1555 DE genes with 870 upregulated and 685 downregulated genes in *** selected the top 400(200 upregulated and 200 downregulated)genes to construct a PPI network and extracted the top 15 hub *** gene ontology(GO)term and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG)pathway enrichment analyses of the 15 hub genes exposed some important functions and signaling pathways that were significantly associated with GC *** survival analysis of the hub genes disclosed that the lower expressions of the three hub genes CDH2,COL4A1,and COL5A2 were associated with better survival of GC *** three genes might be the candidate biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of ***,we considered 3 key proteins(genomic biomarkers)(COL4A1,CDH2,and CO5A2)as the drug target proteins(receptors),performed their docking analysis with the 102 meta-drug agents,and found Everolimus,Docetaxel,Lanreotide,Venetoclax,Temsirolimus,and Nilotinib as the top ranked 6 candidate drugs with respect to our proposed target proteins for the treatment against GC ***,the proposed drugs might play vital role for the treatment against GC patients.

Attaining a highly efficient and inexpensive electrocatalyst is significant for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)but still challenging *** transition-metal phosphides(TMPs)catalysts with platinum-like electronic structures are a potential candidate for the HER,but those are prone to be strongly bound with hydrogen intermediates(H∗),resulting in sluggish HER *** we report a unique hybrid structure of CoP anchored on graphene nanoscrolls@carbon nano tubes(CNTs)scaffold(Ni M@C-CoP)encapsulating various Ni M(M=Zn,Mo,Ni,Co)bimetal nanoalloy via chemical vapor deposi-tion(CVD)growth of CNT on graphene nanoscrolls followed by the impregnation of cobalt precursors and phosphorization for efficiently electrocatalytic hydrogen *** nanoparticles mainly scattered at the tip of CNT branches which exhibited the analogical“Three-layer core-shell”*** and density functional theory(DFT)calculations consistently disclose that the encapsulated various NiMs can offer different numbers of electrons to weaken the interactions of outmost CoP with H∗and push the downshift of the d-band center to different degrees as well as stabilize the outmost CoP nanopar-ticles to gain catalytic stability via the electron traversing *** electrocatalytic HER activity can be maximumly enhanced with low overpotentials of 78 mV(alkaline)and 89 mV(acidic)at a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2) and sustained at least 24 h especially for NiZn@C-CoP *** novel system is distinct from conventional three-layer heterostructure,providing a specially thought of d-band center control engineering strategy for the design of heterogeneous catalysts and expanding to other electrocat-alysts,energy storage,sensing,and other applications.

The cluster system presents multi-level and complex heterogeneous features with GPUs computing. Job scheduling technology determines computing resource utilization and throughput of the cluster system. On the basis of heterogeneous cluster system, the two-level scheduling technology is proposed in this paper. In the first level, a job priority scheduling algorithm based on user value is designed at the cluster level using analytical hierarchy processes. The second level of scheduling is to act on the computing nodes that contain GPUs, and design a scheduling algorithm based on GPU sharing policy that manages GPU jobs in a more fine-grained manner. Through experiments, it shows that the job priority scheduling algorithm based on user value can ensure that jobs with high user value are executed first, and fairness is guaranteed. The scheduling algorithm based on GPU sharing technology can significantly improve the utilization of GPU and video memory, reducing the average waiting time of jobs by 55.54% and the average turnaround time of jobs by 28.83%. © 2021 IEEE.

The natural language processing (NLP) demands high computing resourses to process language related problems. The evolution of quantum computing hardware and simulators create avenues to design and develop NLP methods to test on these platforms. This research uses quantum natural language processing (QNLP) to simulate the sentence classification and compares optimization techniques (Simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation: SPSA and convergent optimization via most-promising-area stochastic search: COMPASS) for small dataset and simple sentence structures and the results are promising to show that with the COMPASS optimization technique the model performs better Table 1. When the ansatz depth is less and vice-versa. The research in quantum natural language processing is infancy, the simulation results are promising and the better results can be expected for large datasets with different sentence structures if real quantum computers are available in near future. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
