We present a continuous reciprocal-kind Zhang dynamics (RKZD) model for solving the time-dependent linear matrixvector equation. On the basis of the model, we deduce its simplified form for solving the time-independent linear matrix-vector equation (TILMVE). Subsequently, for more efficient computation and easier implementation in digital hardware, we utilize Euler forward difference formula (EFDF) to discretize the continuous RKZD model, resulting in a discrete RKZD algorithm. Finally, numerical experimental results attest to the feasibility and high effectiveness of the discrete RKZD algorithm for solving TILMVE. Comparisons with the discrete gradient neural network (or termed discrete gradient dynamics), Jacobi iteration, as well as Gauss-Seidel iteration highlight the superior convergence properties of the discrete RKZD algorithm.

Hidden high-risky states identification from routine urban traffic

One of the core risk management tasks is to identify hidden high-risky states that may lead to system breakdown, which can provide valuable early warning knowledge. However, due to high dimensionality and nonlinear interaction embedded in large-scale complex systems like urban traffic, it remains challenging to identify hidden high-risky states from huge system state space where over 99% of possible system states are not yet visited in empirical data. Based on maximum entropy model, we infer the underlying interaction network from complicated dynamical processes of urban traffic, and construct system energy landscape. In this way, we can locate hidden high-risky states that have never been observed from real data. These states can serve as risk signals with high probability of entering hazardous minima in energy landscape, which lead to huge recovery cost. Our finding might provide insights for complex system risk management. Significance Statement Hidden high-risky states are lethal system states with catastrophic consequences for large-scale complex systems. Existing methods for identifying hidden high-risky states face challenges in routine urban traffic, where over 99% of possible system states are not yet visited in empirical data. Based on large-scale traffic-speed data, we build a least-structured network entropy model that captures intricate traffic interactions. This model can generate the entire state space and help the identification of hidden high-risky states that may lead to extreme events. Our results suggest a new way to provide reliable early warning signals for system breakdown based on critical risk scenarios. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The Lombard effect refers to individuals’ unconscious modulation of vocal effort in response to variations in the ambient noise levels, intending to enhance speech intelligibility. The impact of different decibel levels and types of background noise on Lombard effects remains unclear. Building upon the characteristic of Lombard speech that individuals adjust their speech to improve intelligibility dynamically based on the self-feedback speech, we propose a flavor classification approach for the Lombard effect. We first collected Mandarin Lombard speech under different noise conditions, then simulated self-feedback speech, and ultimately conducted the statistical test on the word correct rate. We found that both SSN and babble noise types result in four distinct categories of Mandarin Lombard speech in the range of 30 to 80 dBA with different transition points. As a continuous variant of Multi-armed bandits (MAB), $\mathcal{X}$-armed bandits have enriched many applications of online machine learning like personalized recommendation system. However, the attack and defense to the $\mathcal{X}$-armed bandits remain largely unexplored, though the MAB has proved to be vulnerable. In this paper, we aim to bridge this gap and investigate the robustness analysis for the $\mathcal{X}$-armed bandits. Specifically, we consider action-manipulation attack, which is practical but harder than the existing reward-manipulation attack. We propose an attack algorithm based on a lower bound tree (LBT), which can continuously hijack the learner’s action by perturbing $\mathcal{X}$-armed bandits’ high confidence tree (HCT) construction. As a result, the nodes including the arm targeted by the attacker is selected frequently with a sublinear attack cost. To defend against the LBT attack, we propose a robust version of the HCT algorithm, called RoHCT. We theoretically analyze that the regret of RoHCT is related to the upper bound of the total cost Q and still sublinear to total number of rounds T. We carry out experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of LBT and RoHCT.

FineDiffusion: Scaling up Diffusion Models for Fine-grained Image Generation with 10,000 Classes

The class-conditional image generation based on diffusion models is renowned for generating high-quality and diverse images. However, most prior efforts focus on generating images for general categories, e.g., 1000 classes in ImageNet-1k. A more challenging task, large-scale fine-grained image generation, remains the boundary to explore. In this work, we present a parameter-efficient strategy, called FineDiffusion, to fine-tune large pre-trained diffusion models scaling to large-scale fine-grained image generation with 10,000 categories. FineDiffusion significantly accelerates training and reduces storage overhead by only fine-tuning tiered class embedder, bias terms, and normalization layers' parameters. To further improve the image generation quality of fine-grained categories, we propose a novel sampling method for fine-grained image generation, which utilizes superclass-conditioned guidance, specifically tailored for fine-grained categories, to replace the conventional classifier-free guidance sampling. Compared to full fine-tuning, FineDiffusion achieves a remarkable 1.56× training speed-up and requires storing merely 1.77% of the total model parameters, while achieving state-of-the-art FID of 9.776 on image generation of 10,000 classes. Extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method compared to other parameter-efficient fine-tuning methods. Modern large-scale systems and networks necessitate automated anomaly detection to support the high availability and quality of services. Since logs are an essential data source that can accurately reflect the state of a system, log anomaly detection has attracted a lot of attention from researchers in both academia and industry. As the technology of artificial intelligence advances, plenty of work has adopted deep learning to detect log anomalies and achieved promising results. Nevertheless, it usually suffers from a lack of labels, excessive log sequence length, and low throughput problems when deploying to real-world systems. To address these challenges, we propose Log-Fold, an unsupervised Transformer-based log anomaly detection approach. In LogFold, we propose fold embedding, which can compress long log sequences to enhance the efficiency of anomaly detection. And we design a sequence reconstruction technique to enhance the effectiveness of anomaly detection. Our evaluation shows LogFold achieves 90.55% and 99.90% Fl-score on HDFS and BGL datasets, respectively, outperforming state-of-the-art methods. Besides, the fold embedding layer achieves compression rates of 36.55% and 64.86% on HDFS and BGL datasets, respectively, which helps to improve the throughput of LogFold.

Deciding on an uncertain event may lead to risk. Uncertainty occurs due to the lack of knowledge of a particular event or a situation. The only way to avoid this is to analyze the Risk. The risk analyzed properly will reduce the impacts to a great extent. Here the risk management dealt with the anomaly detection mechanism, which is carried out by clustering the data to find the outlier as the *** proposed method employs the PCA mechanism for dimensionality reduction which is further clustered with K means algorithm and classified with decision tree algorithm. © 2021 IEEE.

Most current generalized zero-shot learning (GZSL) methods need sufficient labels and other auxiliary information to obtain great results. In this paper, we propose Fake License Plate Discrimination GANs (FLPD-GANs) and introduce the first publicly available New Energy License Plate (NELP) image dataset named CCPONECD. Applied in the license plate (LP) image binary classification task, FLPD-GANs only need a binary label for training and can address the strong bias problem in GZSL tasks. CCPONECD contains nearly 7k unique new energy vehicles images and provides detailed LP vertex location annotations. In our work, the seen class is only real NELP image and the unseen class is manufactured fake NELP image. Trained with merely real NELP images, our FLPD-GANs can greatly discriminate between real and fake NELP images. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our FLPD-GANs model has 97.7% accuracy and performs well in NELP image discrimination for GZSL task. © WCSE 2020.

Hyperledger Fabric stands as a leading framework for permissioned block-chain systems, ensuring data security and audit-ability for enterprise applications. As applications on this platform grow, understanding its complex configuration concerning various block-chain parameters becomes vital. These configurations significantly affect the system’s performance and cost. In this research, we introduce a Stochastic Petri Net (SPN) model to analyze Hyper-ledger Fabric’s performance, considering variations in block-chain parameters, computational resources, and transaction rates. We provide case studies to validate the utility of our model, aiding block-chain administrators in determining optimal configurations for their applications. A key observation from our model highlights the block size’s role in system response time. We noted an increased mean response time, between 1 to 25 seconds, due to variations in transaction arrival rates.

COVID-19 affected our lives intensly. That state of affairs made humans helpless. They had been depressed and experienced loneliness. At that time many human beings were determined to play video games just to loosen up their minds. Many games changed into an additional source of revenue wherein during COVID-19 they were playing while earning money. With these advantages, there were also some poor effects was accrued. A number of players remained playing video games post COVID-19. The carried out survey is based on the social video games results on players’ well-being and additionally on the effects of gamers’ health and their sensible lifestyles. We are going to investigate the behavior of gamers engaged with video games during the COVID-19 lockdown and the video games affects on their well-being, the time they served in playing video games, and the consequential effect on their behavior and social and mental well-being. The results provide a start line for empirically grounded discussions on video games at some stage in the pandemic, their use, and potential outcomes. Different agegroups of players have been investigated. Most players are between 18 and 30 years. A number of the gamers during lock down played a few hours but most of players were males who spent most of their day playing video games. However, now the ratio of playing video games is reduced as examined with past circumstances. Roughly we can say that the condition as a whole is better, the reason why players enforced video games in their post COVID-19 practical life 1 .
