Electrocoagulation-based AZO DYE (P4R) Removal Rate Prediction Model using Deep Learning

This article presents a study on the effectiveness of electrocoagulation (EC) for the removal of azo dyes from wastewater. The analysis was performed using a combination of statistical methods, including density estimation, correlation analysis, and deep learning for electrocoagulation performance prediction. The results showed that electrocoagulation was able to effectively remove azo dyes from the wastewater, considering the energy consumption and the mass of flocs being important factors in the process. Deep Learning (DL) is used to build our predictive model using the datasets collected during the experimentation stage. Overall, the findings suggest that electrocoagulation is a promising technique for the treatment of wastewater containing azo dyes, and that the use of statistical and machine learning methods can aid in the optimization of the process.

Federated learning (FL) trains a shared global model by periodically aggregating gradients from local devices. Communication overhead becomes a principal bottleneck in FL since participating devices usually suffer from limited bandwidth and unreliable connections in uplink transmission. To address this problem, the gradient compression methods based on compressed sensing (CS) theory have been put forward recently. However, most existing CS-based works compress gradients independently, ignoring the gradient correlations between participants or adjacent communication rounds, which constrains the achievement of higher compression rates. In view of the above observation, we propose a novel gradient compression scheme named FedDCS, guided by distributed compressed sensing (DCS) theory. Following the design philosophy of separate encoding and joint decoding in DCS, FedDCS compresses gradients for participants in each round separately while reconstructing them at the central server jointly via fully exploiting correlated gradients from the previous round, which are known as side information (SI). Benefiting from this design, reconstruction performance is significantly improved with fewer decoding errors also iterations under the identical compression rate, and the total uploading bits to achieve model convergence are considerably reduced. Theoretical analysis and extensive experiments conducted on MNIST and Fashion-MNIST both verify the effectiveness of our approach.

Fruit quality prediction plays a vital role in agricultural and food industries, ensuring that only high-quality produce reaches the consumer. Traditional methods of assessing fruit quality rely on manual inspection, which is both time-consuming and prone to human error. This paper presents a robust methodology for fruit quality prediction and estimation, utilizing a hybrid deep learning model that integrates DenseN et for feature extraction with LightGBM for efficient classification. The proposed model is designed to automate the process of fruit quality assessment by analyzing key attributes such as color, texture, and shape from high-resolution fruit images. The Fruit360 dataset was used for training and testing, with images classified into categories such as fresh, ripe, overripe, and damaged. A comprehensive comparison with nine existing models, including SVM, Random Forest, and XGBoost, was conducted using performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and Fl-score. The proposed model achieved an accuracy of 96.78%, significantly outperforming all other models. Furthermore, the model's precision and recall reached 95.33% and 95.67%, respectively, demonstrating its reliability in distinguishing high-quality fruits from low-quality ones.

CoR-GS: Sparse-View 3D Gaussian Splatting via Co-Regularization

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) creates a radiance field consisting of 3D Gaussians to represent a scene. With sparse training views, 3DGS easily suffers from overfitting, negatively impacting rendering. This paper introduces a new co-regularization perspective for improving sparse-view 3DGS. When training two 3D Gaussian radiance fields, we observe that the two radiance fields exhibit point disagreement and rendering disagreement that can unsupervisedly predict reconstruction quality, stemming from the randomness of densification implementation. We further quantify the two disagreements and demonstrate the negative correlation between them and accurate reconstruction, which allows us to identify inaccurate reconstruction without accessing ground-truth information. Based on the study, we propose CoR-GS, which identifies and suppresses inaccurate reconstruction based on the two disagreements: (i) Co-pruning considers Gaussians that exhibit high point disagreement in inaccurate positions and prunes them. (ii) Pseudo-view co-regularization considers pixels that exhibit high rendering disagreement are inaccurate and suppress the disagreement. Results on LLFF, Mip-NeRF360, DTU, and Blender demonstrate that CoR-GS effectively regularizes the scene geometry, reconstructs the compact representations, and achieves state-of-the-art novel view synthesis quality under sparse training views. The latest developments in the industrial Internet of things (IIoT) have opened up a collection of possibilities for many industries. To solve the massive IIoT data security and efficiency problems, a potential approach is considered to satisfy the main needs of IIoT, such as high throughput, high security, and high efficiency, which is named blockchain. The blockchain mechanism is considered a significant approach to boosting data protection and performance. In the quest to amplify the capabilities of blockchain-based IIoT, a pivotal role is accorded to the Glowworm Swarm Optimization (GSO) algorithm. Inspired by the collaborative brilliance of glowworms in nature, the GSO algorithm offers a unique approach to harmonizing these conflicting aims. This paper proposes a new approach to improve the performance optimization of blockchain-based IIoT using the GSO algorithm due to the blockchain's contradictory objectives. The proposed blockchain-based IIoT system using the GSO algorithm addresses scalability challenges typically associated with blockchain technology by efficiently managing interactions among nodes and dynamically adapting to network demands. The GSO algorithm optimizes the allocation of resources and decision-making, reducing inefficiencies and bottlenecks. The method demonstrates considerable performance improvements through extensive simulations compared to traditional algorithms, offering a more scalable and efficient solution for industrial applications in the context of the IIoT. The extensive simulation and computational study have shown that the proposed method using GSO considerably improves the objective function and blockchain-based IIoT systems' performance compared to traditional algorithms. It provides more efficient and secure systems for industries and corporations. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Bit-depth expansion (BDE) is one of the emerging technologies to display high bit-depth (HBD) image from low bit-depth (LBD) source. Existing BDE methods have no unified solution for various BDE situations, and directly learn a mapping for each pixel from LBD image to the desired value in HBD image, which may change the given high-order bits and lead to a huge deviation from the ground truth. In this paper, we design a bit restoration network (BRNet) to learn a weight for each pixel, which indicates the ratio of the replenished value within a rational range, invoking an accurate solution without modifying the given high-order bit information. To make the network adaptive for any bit-depth degradation, we investigate the issue in an optimization perspective and train the network under progressive training strategy for better performance. Moreover, we employ Wasserstein distance as a visual quality indicator to evaluate the difference of color distribution between restored image and the ground truth. Experimental results show our method can restore colorful images with fewer artifacts and false contours, and outperforms state-of-the-art methods with higher PSNR/SSIM results and lower Wasserstein distance. Machine and deep learning techniques are now essential for many different kinds of solutions in many areas, applications, and businesses. Analyzing e-commerce reviews using machine and deep learning techniques can motivate a company to make more wise decisions regarding the quality and services it offers. But issues can occur if there is insufficient high-quality data for the training, scalability, and upkeep of learning models. To address these important issues, we suggest a data-centric learning architecture that makes use of a blockchain and Interplanetary File System (IPFS)-based storage. Our architecture provides secure and cost-effective data storage and an incentive mechanism. Our experiment shows that as the dataset gets bigger, the Naïve Bayes (NB) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) models get 2% more accurate, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model gets 4% more accurate, and the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model gets 3 % more accurate. The deep learning models exhibited higher accuracy rates than the machine learning models because hidden layers of deep learning possess the ability to extract intricate syntactic features from the review text.

Binary neural network (BNN) is widely used in speech recognition, image processing and other fields to save memory and speed up computing. However, the accuracy of the existing binarization scheme in the realistic dataset is obviously low, and the input layer uses 32-bit floating point to avoid excessive precision loss, which requires additional computing units and increases the computational burden. Therefore, it is very important to improve the input layer, save computing resources and reduce precision loss. In this paper, we propose a parallel convolution binary neural network accelerator architecture (PC-BNA). Based on our proposed BNN model, we design an efficient field programmable gate array (FPGA) based accelerator. The input of the first layer is binarized, the traditional binary convolution layer is replaced by a parallel binary convolution, and the network building blocks are improved. The experimental results show that the proposed PC-BNA has higher accuracy and better performance on CIFAR-10. The image recognition accuracy is as high as 91.4%, which is superior to the state-of-art of the BNN accelerator. Compared to the state-of-the-art BNN model, when using the same model size, the use of look-up-table (LUT) saves 9.08%, and the digital signal processor (DSP) saves 27.7%. The results suggest that it is promising for PC-BNA in future high performance mobile artificial intelligence applications.

Computing in memory (CIM) has been demonstrated promising for energy efficient computing. However, the dramatic growth of the data scale in neural network processors has aroused a demand for CIM architecture of higher bit density, for which the spin transfer torque magnetic RAM (STT-MRAM) with high bit density and performance arises as an up-and-coming candidate solution. In this work, we propose an analog CIM scheme based on tandem array within STT-MRAM (TAM) to further improve energy efficiency while achieving high bit density. First, the resistance summation based analog MAC operation minimizes the effect of low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) by the serial magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) structure in the proposed tandem array with smaller area overhead. Moreover, a read scheme of resistive-to-binary is designed to achieve the MAC results accurately and reliably. Besides, the data-dependent error caused by MTJs in series has been eliminated with a proposed dynamic selection circuit. Simulation results of a 2Kb TAM architecture show 113.2 TOPS/W and 63.7 TOPS/W for 4-bit and 8-bit input/weight precision, respectively, and reduction by 39.3% for bit-cell area compared with existing array of MTJs in series.

A forensic autopsy is a surgical process in which experts collect a deceased body's internal and external information. These death certificates are the source of timely warnings of an increase in disease activity. It's only helpful if accurate and quantitative data is available. Therefore, the Classification of plain text medical autopsy reports reduces the time consumption and irregularities. The motive is to design an automatic text classification system that classifies plain text autopsy reports. Therefore, a methodology proposes using different Automatic Text Classification Techniques (ATC). This technique has embedded Feature Extraction, Feature Representation, and Feature Reduction techniques. These techniques use for the construction of classification models that classify the text of autopsy reports. Data sets collected from these types will be helpful in future experiments. Finally, the performance of the classifier measures by using different Evaluation parameters. These Evaluation Measures are Precision, Recall, Accuracy, and F-measure. © 2022 IEEE.
