This Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), facilitates the medical stop regarding real-time monitoring of patients, medical emergency management, remote surgery, patient information management, medical equipment, drug monitoring, etc. However, IoMT devices communicate with each other in an open environment that makes them vulnerable to a wide range of malicious threats from malicious entities. To protect the devices and their associated data, we designed a broadcast authentication scheme for IoMT devices using identity-based public key cryptography that exploits the lightweight features of the Hyper-Elliptic Curve (HEC). We then performed the security analysis based on the Random Oracle Model (ROM), in which we have proved that the proposed scheme is unforgeable under the hardiness of the hyperelliptic curve discrete logarithm problem. The proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of computational and communication overhead and the experimental results justify the superiority of the proposed work in comparison to the existing schemes.

The graph with complex annotations is the most potent data type, whose constantly evolving motivates further exploration of the unsupervised dynamic graph representation. One of the representative paradigms is graph contrastive learning. It constructs self-supervised signals by maximizing the mutual information between the statistic graph's augmentation views. However, the semantics and labels may change within the augmentation process, causing a significant performance drop in downstream tasks. This drawback becomes greatly magnified on dynamic graphs. To address this problem, we designed a simple yet effective framework named CLDG. Firstly, we elaborate that dynamic graphs have temporal translation invariance at different levels. Then, we proposed a sampling layer to extract the temporally-persistent signals. It will encourage the node to maintain consistent local and global representations, i.e., temporal translation invariance under the timespan views. The extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the method on seven datasets by outperforming eight unsupervised state-of-the-art baselines and showing competitiveness against four semi-supervised methods. Compared with the existing dynamic graph method, the number of model parameters and training time is reduced by an average of 2,001.86 times and 130.31 times on seven datasets, respectively. The academic intelligence of large language models (LLMs) has made remarkable progress in recent times, but their social intelligence performance remains unclear. Inspired by established human social intelligence frameworks, particularly Daniel Goleman’s social intelligence theory, we have developed a standardized social intelligence test based on real-world social scenarios to comprehensively assess the social intelligence of LLMs, termed as the Situational Evaluation of Social Intelligence (SESI). We conducted an extensive evaluation with 13 recent popular and state-of-art LLM agents on SESI. The results indicate the social intelligence of LLMs still has significant room for improvement, with superficially friendliness as a primary reason for errors. Moreover, there exists a relatively low correlation between the social intelligence and academic intelligence exhibited by LLMs, suggesting that social intelligence is distinct from academic intelligence for LLMs. Additionally, while it is observed that LLMs can’t "understand" what social intelligence is, their social intelligence, similar to that of humans, is influenced by social factors. © 2024, CC BY.

A Simple Geometric-Aware Indoor Positioning Interpolation Algorithm Based on Manifold Learning

Interpolation methodologies have been widely used within the domain of indoor positioning systems. However, existing indoor positioning interpolation algorithms exhibit several inherent limitations, including reliance on complex mathematical models, limited flexibility, and relatively low precision. To enhance the accuracy and efficiency of indoor positioning interpolation techniques, this paper proposes a simple yet powerful geometric-aware interpolation algorithm for indoor positioning tasks. The key to our algorithm is to exploit the geometric attributes of the local topological manifold using manifold learning principles. Therefore, instead of constructing complicated mathematical models, the proposed algorithm facilitates the more precise and efficient estimation of points grounded in the local topological manifold. Moreover, our proposed method can be effortlessly integrated into any indoor positioning system, thereby bolstering its adaptability. Through a systematic array of experiments and comprehensive performance analyses conducted on both simulated and real-world datasets, we demonstrate that the proposed algorithm consistently outperforms the most commonly used and representative interpolation approaches regarding interpolation accuracy and efficiency. Furthermore, the experimental results also underscore the substantial practical utility of our method and its potential applicability in real-time indoor positioning scenarios. With the advancement and availability of the internet in the present age, everything is being wireless. Be it our home appliances or high defined monitoring systems, Wireless sensor networks play an important role. But with advancement comes a high probability of getting attacked. One of these attacks is the Blackhole attack (BHA), in which a node drains all the traffic towards itself and discards the data traffic without sending it towards the receiver. There exist multiple approaches that help to protect a network against BHA, but existing approaches have some drawbacks. Many proposed schemes make sure that the given technique uses less energy but failed to reduce the packet drop ratio. In the detection of BHA, the proposed scheme should not only detect defected nodes but also manages the efficiency. The proposed methodology used mobile agents with authentication of nodes and trust values to detect black hole nodes. The methodology is tested using different evaluation measures such as energy consumption, latency, network life, and packet delivery ratio. The proposed method uses a detection algorithm that increases energy consumption and hence networks lifetime. Packet delivery rate is increased by 19.51%, the energy consumption is reduced by 53.3%, and network life is increased by 43.3% as compared to the previous technique.

Due to its importance in studying people's thoughts on various Web 2.0 services, emotion classification is a critical undertaking. Most existing research is focused on the English lan- guage, with little work on low-resource languages. Though sentiment analysis, particularly emotion classification in English, has received increasing attention in recent years, little study has been done in the context of Bangla, one of the world's most widely spoken languages. In this research, we propose a complete set of approaches for identifying and extracting emo- tions from Bangla texts. We provide a Bangla emotion classifier for six classes, i.e., anger, disgust, fear, joy, sadness, and surprise, from Bangla words using transformer-based models, which exhibit phenomenal results in recent days, especially for high-resource languages. The Unified Bangla Multi-class Emotion Corpus (UBMEC) is used to assess the performance of our models. UBMEC is created by combining two previously released manually labelled datasets of Bangla comments on six emotion classes with fresh manually labelled Bangla comments created by us. Real-world applications of stereo matching, such as autonomous driving, place stringent demands on both safety and accuracy. However, learning-based stereo matching methods inherently suffer from the loss of geometric structures in certain feature channels, creating a bottleneck in achieving precise detail matching. Additionally, these methods lack interpretability due to the black-box nature of deep learning. In this paper, we propose MoCha-V2, a novel learning-based paradigm for stereo matching. MoCha-V2 introduces the Motif Correlation Graph (MCG) to capture recurring textures, which are referred to as "motifs" within feature channels. These motifs reconstruct geometric structures and are learned in a more interpretable way. Subsequently, we integrate features from multiple frequency domains through wavelet inverse transformation. The resulting motif features are utilized to restore geometric structures in the stereo matching process. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of MoCha-V2. ProKD: An Unsupervised Prototypical Knowledge Distillation Network for Zero-Resource Cross-Lingual Named Entity Recognition

For named entity recognition (NER) in zero-resource languages, utilizing knowledge distillation methods to transfer language-independent knowledge from the rich-resource source languages to zero-resource languages is an effective means. Typically, these approaches adopt a teacher-student architecture, where the teacher network is trained in the source language, and the student network seeks to learn knowledge from the teacher network and is expected to perform well in the target language. Despite the impressive performance achieved by these methods, we argue that they have two limitations. Firstly, the teacher network fails to effectively learn language-independent knowledge shared across languages due to the differences in the feature distribution between the source and target languages. Secondly, the student network acquires all of its knowledge from the teacher network and ignores the learning of target language-specific knowledge. Undesirably, these limitations would hinder the model’s performance in the target language. This paper proposes an unsupervised prototype knowledge distillation network (ProKD) to address these issues. Specifically, ProKD presents a contrastive learning-based prototype alignment method to achieve class feature alignment by adjusting the distance among prototypes in the source and target languages, boosting the teacher network’s capacity to acquire language-independent knowledge. In addition, ProKD introduces a prototypical self-training method to learn the intrinsic structure of the language by retraining the student network on the target data using samples’ distance information from prototypes, thereby enhancing the student network’s ability to acquire language-specific knowledge. Extensive experiments on three benchmark cross-lingual NER datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
