Based on quantum parallelism theory and quantum phenomena such as superposition and entanglement, quantum reinforcement learning (QRL) has the potential to surpass classical reinforcement learning (RL). Although some excellent works have been done on QRL, existing RL methods encounter chanllenges when performing in environments with sparse rewards. In this paper, we provide a new perspective on conducting temporal difference (TD) learning in quantum computing, which can eliminate redundant exploration steps compared to classical methods. Specifically, we first use environment information to construct a world model with quantum circuits, enabling it to interact in a quantum way. Then, we perform the learning process by using the quantum world model and Grover’s algorithm to query backwards how to reach the recorded states with high TD-errors. Simulation results show that our proposed method has superior performance compared to classical RL algorithms.

Neural architecture search (NAS) enables researchers to automatically explore vast search spaces and find efficient neural networks. But NAS suffers from a key bottleneck, i.e., numerous architectures need to be evaluated during the search process, which requires a lot of computing resources and time. In order to improve the efficiency of NAS, a series of methods have been proposed to reduce the evaluation time of neural architectures. However, they are not efficient enough and still only focus on the accuracy of architectures. In addition to the classification accuracy, more efficient and smaller network architectures are required in real-world applications. To address the above problems, we propose the SMEM-NAS, a pairwise comparison relation-assisted multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on a multi-population mechanism. In the SMEM-NAS, a surrogate model is constructed based on pairwise comparison relations to predict the accuracy ranking of architectures, rather than the absolute accuracy. Moreover, two populations cooperate with each other in the search process, i.e., a main population guides the evolution, while a vice population expands the diversity. Our method aims to provide high-performance models that take into account multiple optimization objectives. We conduct a series of experiments on the CIFAR-10, CIFAR- 100 and ImageNet datasets to verify its effectiveness. With only a single GPU searching for 0.17 days, competitive architectures can be found by SMEM-NAS which achieves 78.91% accuracy with the MAdds of 570M on the ImageNet. Data, as an observable form of knowledge, has become one of the most important factors of production for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, increasing legislation and regulations on private and proprietary information results in scattered data sources also known as the "data islands". Although some collaborative learning paradigms such as Federated Learning (FL) can enable privacy-preserving training over decentralized data, they have inherent deficiencies in fairness, costs and reproducibility because of being learning-centric, which greatly limits the way how participants cooperate with each other. In light of this, we present a knowledge-centric paradigm termed Knowledge Augmentation in Federation (KAF), with focus on how to enhance local knowledge through collaborative effort. We provide the suggested system architecture, formulate the prototypical optimization objective, and review emerging studies that employ methodologies suitable for KAF. On our roadmap, with a three-way categorization we describe the methods for knowledge expansion, knowledge filtering, and label and feature space correction in the federation. Further, we highlight several challenges and open questions that deserve more attention from the community. In this modern era, traffic congestion has become a major source of negative economic and environmental impact for urban areas worldwide. One of the most efficient ways to mitigate this issue is through traffic prediction. This research field has evolved greatly ever since its inception in the late 70s. Recently, deep neural network models have gained popularity thanks to its predictive power, but despite this, literature surveys of such methods are rare; making it difficult to ascertain the progress of this research field. In this work, we address this issue by presenting an up-to-date survey of deep neural network for traffic prediction. We provide detailed explanations of popular deep neural network architectures used in the traffic flow prediction literatures, categorize and describe the literatures themselves, present an overview of the commonalities and differences among different works, and finally provide a discussion regarding the challenges and future directions for this field.

Aiming at the optimal cost planning problem in the process of raw material ordering and transshipment, this pa-per studies and develops a supply chain planning manage-ment model based on genetic algorithm by constructing ob-jective function and constraints. On the basis of analyzing the raw material demand of production enterprises, combined with the supplier's supply capacity and the transshipment loss rate of the transshipment carrier, the mathematical model of the optimal ordering scheme and the transshipment scheme is constructed, and the optimal supply planning model that can meet the actual supply chain planning needs is proposed, and the planning model is improved by using genetic algorithms, which greatly improves the operation speed and has good applicability.

We consider downlink beamforming design to maximize the weighted sum rate (WSR) in a user-centric cell-free network, where distributed access points (APs) are organized in a cluster to jointly serve each user equipment (UE). This architecture ensures uniform service quality even at the cell edge, but synchronization between APs can be problematic, necessitating the utilization of non-coherent joint transmission (NCJT) that eliminates the need for strict synchronization. Most existing works on beamforming design for NCJT assume that the classic weighted minimum mean square error (WMMSE) approach is not applicable, and design their beamforming algorithms based on the successive convex approximation (SCA) method with high computational complexity. In this work, we for the first time demonstrate the applicability of the WMMSE approach for NCJT in cell-free networks. Based on the unique observations on the structures of the WSR maximization problem for NCJT, we propose an efficient WMMSE based beamforming algorithm. Our proposed algorithm is guaranteed to converge to a stationary point of the WSR maximization problem. Furthermore, our beamforming updates are in closed form with low computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate substantial performance gain of our proposed algorithm over the current best SCA based alternatives in both computational complexity and convergence time.

This paper investigates the suitability of advanced deep learning models for precise diagnosis of lung cancer from MRI images. Recurrent neural networks (RNN), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), ResNet50, and convolutional neural networks (CNN) were all carefully evaluated to determine their unique contributions. The CNN showed off its good performance and capacity to recognize intricate patterns in lung images, achieving an accuracy of 92.3%. KNN demonstrated competitive results, demonstrating the adaptability of non-parametric methods for medical image classification. Remarkably, ResNet50 fared extremely well, exhibiting a remarkable accuracy of 94.8% and verifying the value of deep residual networks in differentiating between intricate features. RNNs gave the analysis a temporal dimension and contributed to its 89.5% accuracy. Information from confusion matrices containing comprehensive classification results was useful in refining the model. Spatial representations of expected cancer cell locations showed the effectiveness of the models by giving doctors visual cues for targeted interventions. Comparisons with the literature show that the results are in line with recent developments in deep learning for medical image analysis. Because of its comprehensive assessment of different deep learning architectures, which provides fresh perspectives that advance the field of lung cancer detection technologies, this work is an invaluable resource for future research.

SLAM: Towards Efficient Multilingual Reasoning via Selective Language Alignment

Despite the significant improvements achieved by large language models (LLMs) in English reasoning tasks, these models continue to struggle with multilingual reasoning. Recent studies leverage a full-parameter and two-stage training paradigm to teach models to first understand non-English questions and then reason. However, this method suffers from both substantial computational resource computing and catastrophic forgetting. The fundamental cause is that, with the primary goal of enhancing multilingual comprehension, an excessive number of irrelevant layers and parameters are tuned during the first stage. Given our findings that the representation learning of languages is merely conducted in lower-level layers, we propose an efficient multilingual reasoning alignment approach that precisely identifies and finetunes the layers responsible for handling multilingualism. Experimental results show that our method, SLAM, only tunes 6 layers' feedforward sub-layers including 6.5-8% of all parameters within 7B and 13B LLMs, achieving superior average performance than all strong baselines across 10 languages. Meanwhile, SLAM only involves one training stage, reducing training time by 4.1 - 11.9× compared to the two-stage method. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Spatial computing is a technological advancement that facilitates the seamless integration of devices into the physical environment, resulting in a more natural and intuitive digital world user experience. Spatial computing has the potential to become a significant advancement in the field of computing. From GPS and location-based services to healthcare, spatial computing technologies have influenced and improved our interactions with the digital world. The use of spatial computing in creating interactive digital environments has become increasingly popular and effective. This is explained by its increasing significance among researchers and industrial organisations, which motivated us to conduct this review. This review provides a detailed overview of spatial computing, including its enabling technologies and its impact on various applications. Projects related to spatial computing are also discussed. In this review, we also explored the potential challenges and limitations of spatial computing. Furthermore, we discuss potential solutions and future directions.
