Spark workflow task scheduling with deadline and privacy constraints in hybrid cloud networks

The increasing adoption of hybrid clouds in organizations stems from their ability to bolster private cloud resources with additional public cloud capacity when required. However, scheduling distributed applications, such as workflow tasks, on hybrid cloud resources presents new and intricate challenges. A significant concern revolves around the potential exposure of private data and tasks within third-party, public cloud infrastructures, especially within sensitive domains like healthcare applications. The complexity escalates when considering the selection of resources from multiple cloud providers due to the fluctuating resource computation prices and data transmission costs. This paper presents the Spark Workflow Task Scheduling to Hybrid Cloud (SWSHC) framework, designed to schedule Spark workflows precisely while adhering to deadline and task privacy constraints within a hybrid cloud setting. Our innovative approach encompasses developing and implementing three pivotal components: deadline division, stage order optimization, and task scheduling mechanisms. We segregate the workflow deadline for each stage to bridge the gaps between stages effectively. Additionally, job prioritization is achieved using the maximum rank rule. The proposed solution considers diverse factors, including interval pricing variations, utilization of heterogeneous VM instances, intra- and inter-bandwidth considerations, and the efficient utilization of private cloud resources. Through meticulous calibration of our algorithm and comprehensive experimentation with various realistic workflows, our findings unequivocally demonstrate that SWSHC surpasses existing solutions in the current literature the cost by up to 40–70% in terms of cost efficiency and resource utilization. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Gannet Optimization Algorithm Enhanced by Quasi-Affine Transformation Algorithm and Its Application in 3D Coverage of Wireless Sensor Network

The gannet optimization algorithm (GOA) is an effective group intelligence algorithm inspired by the foraging behavior of gannets. Despite its merits, considerable potential exists for enhancing its exploration and convergence capabilities. A gannet optimization algorithm improved by the quasi-affine transformation evolutionary algorithm, restart strategy, and elite selection strategy (QRE-GOA) is proposed in this paper. The algorithm employs the quasi-affine transformation evolutionary algorithm (QUATRE) to matrix the gannet optimization algorithm to search for optimal solutions more accurately. The use of a restart strategy and elite selection can be more effective in preventing the algorithm from falling into local optimal solutions. Comparative experiments were conducted using the CEC2017 benchmark series. A detailed analysis was conducted, we per-formed a detailed analysis to check the accuracy and convergence speed of the algorithm search in different dimensions. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis was undertaken to assess the accuracy and convergence speed of the algorithm’s search process across various dimensions. The experimental statistical results show that the new algorithm has stronger exploration ability and better convergence ability than the original algorithm. In addition, this paper focuses on process justification so that the experimental results are reliable, trustworthy, and interpretable. Finally, the newly proposed QRE-GOA algorithm is deployed to address the 3D Coverage challenge in Wireless Sensor Networks. Experimental findings unequivocally demonstrate the superior performance of QRE-GOA. In the environment of smart examination rooms, it is important to quickly and accurately detect abnormal behavior(human standing) for the construction of a smart campus. Based on deep learning, we propose an intelligentstanding human detection (ISHD) method based on an improved single shot multibox detector to detect thetarget of standing human posture in the scene frame of exam room video surveillance at a specific examinationstage. ISHD combines the MobileNet network in a single shot multibox detector network, improves the posturefeature extractor of a standing person, merges prior knowledge, and introduces transfer learning in the trainingstrategy, which greatly reduces the computation amount, improves the detection accuracy, and reduces the trainingdifficulty. The experiment proves that the model proposed in this paper has a better detection ability for the smalland medium-sized standing human body posture in video test scenes on the EMV-2 dataset.

Unsupervised Domain Adaptation on Point Clouds via High-Order Geometric Structure Modeling

Point clouds can capture the precise geometric information of objects and scenes, which are an important source of 3-D data and one of the most popular 3-D geometric data structures for cognitions in many real-world applications like automatic driving and remote sensing. However, due to the influence of sensors and varieties of objects, the point clouds obtained by different devices may suffer obvious geometric changes, resulting in domain gaps that are prone to the neural networks trained in one domain failing to preserve the performance in other domains. To alleviate the above problem, this article proposes an unsupervised domain adaptation framework, named HO-GSM, as the first attempt to model high-order geometric structures of point clouds. First, we construct multiple self-supervised tasks to learn the invariant semantic and geometric features of the source and target domains, especially to capture the feature invariance of high-order geometric structures of point clouds. Second, the discriminative feature space of target domain is acquired by using contrastive learning to refine domain alignment to specific class level. Experiments on the PointDA-10 and GraspNetPC-10 collection of datasets show that the proposed HO-GSM can significantly outperform the state-of-the-art counterparts. © 2020 IEEE.

Multi-view multi-person 3D human pose estimation is a hot topic in the field of human pose estimation due to its wide range of application *** the introduction of end-to-end direct regression methods,the field has entered a new stage of ***,the regression results of joints that are more heavily influenced by external factors are not accurate enough even for the optimal *** this paper,we propose an effective feature recalibration module based on the channel attention mechanism and a relative optimal calibration strategy,which is applied to themulti-viewmulti-person 3D human pose estimation task to achieve improved detection accuracy for joints that are more severely affected by external ***,it achieves relative optimal weight adjustment of joint feature information through the recalibration module and strategy,which enables the model to learn the dependencies between joints and the dependencies between people and their corresponding *** call this method as the Efficient Recalibration Network(ER-Net).Finally,experiments were conducted on two benchmark datasets for this task,Campus and Shelf,in which the PCP reached 97.3% and 98.3%,respectively.

Deep-BERT:Transfer Learning for Classifying Multilingual Offensive Texts on Social Media

Offensive messages on social media,have recently been frequently used to harass and criticize *** recent studies,many promising algorithms have been developed to identify offensive *** algorithms analyze text in a unidirectional manner,where a bidirectional method can maximize performance results and capture semantic and contextual information in *** addition,there are many separate models for identifying offensive texts based on monolin-gual and multilingual,but there are a few models that can detect both monolingual and multilingual-based offensive *** this study,a detection system has been developed for both monolingual and multilingual offensive texts by combining deep convolutional neural network and bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(Deep-BERT)to identify offensive posts on social media that are used to harass *** paper explores a variety of ways to deal with multilin-gualism,including collaborative multilingual and translation-based ***,the Deep-BERT is tested on the Bengali and English datasets,including the different bidirectional encoder representations from transformers(BERT)pre-trained word-embedding techniques,and found that the proposed Deep-BERT’s efﬁcacy outperformed all existing offensive text classiﬁcation algorithms reaching an accuracy of 91.83%.The proposed model is a state-of-the-art model that can classify both monolingual-based and multilingual-based offensive texts.

In recent decades, impulse control has been increasingly applied as a discontinuous control method across diverse domains such as satellite orbit transfers, financial market regulation, chaos synchronization, and communication security. This paper investigates an impulse synchronization strategy specifically tailored for chaotic financial systems. We propose a novel strategy grounded in Lyapunov stability theory and the maximum Lyapunov exponent, designed to synchronize chaotic financial systems effectively.
