INTRODUCTION: As population has increased over successive generations, human dependency on electricity has increased to the point where it has become a norm and indispensable, and the idea of living without it has become unthinkable. OBJECTIVES: Machine learning is emerging as a fundamental method for performing tasks autonomously without human intervention. Forecasting electricity consumption is challenging due to the many factors that influence it;embracing modern technology with its heavy focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence is a potential solution. METHODS: This study employs various machine learning algorithms to forecast power usage and determine which method performs best in predicting the dataset based on different variables. RESULTS: Eight models were tested, including Linear Regression, DT Classifier, RF Classifier, KNN, DT Regression, SVM, Logistic Regression, and GNB Classifier. The Decision Tree model had the greatest accuracy of 98.3%. CONCLUSION: The Decision Tree model’s accuracy can facilitate efficient use of electricity, leading to both conservation of electricity and cost savings, and be a guiding light in future planning. Railway Track Fault Detection Using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient from Acoustic Data using Chi Square

Spatial, temporal, and weather elements like ballast, loose nuts, misalignment, and cracks due to rain, snow, and earthquakes may lead to railway accidents and cause human and financial loss. Manual inspection is erroneous, labor-intensive, and *** automatic inspection provides a fast, reliable, and unbiased solution in this regard, however, ensuring high accuracy for fault detection is challenging due to the lack of public datasets, noisy data, high computer processing requirements, and inefficient models. This study presents an approach that uses Mel frequency cepstral coefficient features from the acoustic data. The dataset gathered using a customized railway cart from our previous research is used for experiments. The focus of the study is to increase the fault detection performance using selective features from the acoustic data. This study employs Chisquare(Chi2) for the selection of important features and involves performance analysis of machine learning and deep learning models using selected features. Experimental results suggest that using 60 features, 40 original features, and 20 Chi2 features, produces optimal results both regarding accuracy and computational complexity. A 100%accuracy can be obtained using the proposed approach with machine learning models. Moreover, this performance is significantly better than existing approaches.

Many in computer vision and computational imaging consider Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) a big advance. Style transfer converts semantic visual content into creative styles. Recently, GANs for style transfer have gained popularity. Adversarial training of GANs to create realistic counterfeits has yielded encouraging results. High-quality style transfer results have been achieved using this method. Mode collapse is a common problem in classical GANs. This causes unsteady training and poor style transmission. Additionally, the GAN generator only supports one style. Therefore, numerous GANs must be trained to allow users to shift styles. This study examines artistic style transfer in photographs using depth extraction generative adversarial network (DE-GAN). This research aims to improve photo aesthetics by adding famous artworks' distinctive qualities. This study investigates DE-GANs' mechanics and how they modify text while keeping a style's creative qualities. By studying adversarial training, this work hopes to understand how DE-GAN achieves this dual goal. This research analyzes DE-GAN-based style transfer models to evaluate their effectiveness, identify their limits, and recommend areas for improvement. The experiments show that DE-GAN creates realistic and attractive stylized visuals. This study also discusses DE-GAN's practical applications, problems, and future possibilities in artistic style transfer. © 2024 IEEE.

Breast cancer is a significant health concern;early detection and treatment are critical to improving patient outcomes. Artificial Intelligence has the potential to assist healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, and clinical decision support systems using AI algorithms can help to improve the accuracy and speed of breast cancer detection and diagnosis. By analysing large amounts of data from various imaging modalities, AI algorithms can help identify breast cancer early, increasing the chances of successful treatment. This survey aims to briefly overview the most prevalent breast cancer types, their staging, and the methods and modalities for their diagnosis to address these problems. Our investigation showed that, when compared to ML, DL techniques achieved the highest accuracy, with an approximate 2% improvement in accuracy. This review article mainly focuses on four commonly used imaging modalities: Mammogram, Thermogram, Ultrasound imaging and histopathology images. This survey critically analyzes breast cancer detection approaches and modalities, as well as a cost-to-accuracy comparison. Explainable AI (XAI) techniques and their application for breast cancer diagnosis are critically examined, as well as their advantages and limitations. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Smoking has an economic and environmental impact on society due to the toxic substances it *** Neural Networks(CNNs)need help describing low-level features and can miss important ***,accurate smoker detection is vital with minimum false *** answer the issue,the researchers of this paper have turned to a self-attention mechanism inspired by the ViT,which has displayed state-of-the-art performance in the classification *** effectively enforce the smoking prohibition in non-smoking locations,this work presents a Vision Transformer-inspired model called SmokerViT for detecting ***,this research utilizes a locally curated dataset of 1120 images evenly distributed among the two classes(Smoking and NotSmoking).Further,this research performs augmentations on the smoker detection dataset to have many images with various representations to overcome the dataset size *** convolutional operations used in most existing works,the proposed SmokerViT model employs a self-attention mechanism in the Transformer block,making it suitable for the smoker classification ***,this work integrates the multi-layer perceptron head block in the SmokerViT model,which contains dense layers with rectified linear activation and linear kernel regularizer with L2 for the recognition *** work presents an exhaustive analysis to prove the efficiency of the proposed SmokerViT *** performance of the proposed SmokerViT performance is evaluated and compared with the existing methods,where it achieves an overall classification accuracy of 97.77%,with 98.21%recall and 97.35%precision,outperforming the state-of-the-art deep learning models,including convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and other vision transformer-based models.

Federated learning is an emerging privacy-preserving distributed learning paradigm,in which many clients collaboratively train a shared global model under the orchestration of a remote *** current works on federated learning have focused on fully supervised learning settings,assuming that all the data are annotated with ground-truth ***,this work considers a more realistic and challenging setting,Federated Semi-Supervised Learning(FSSL),where clients have a large amount of unlabeled data and only the server hosts a small number of labeled *** to reasonably utilize the server-side labeled data and the client-side unlabeled data is the core challenge in this *** this paper,we propose a new FSSL algorithm for image classification based on consistency regularization and ensemble knowledge distillation,called *** algorithm uses the global model as the teacher in consistency regularization methods to enhance both the accuracy and stability of client-side unsupervised learning on unlabeled ***,we introduce an additional ensemble knowledge distillation loss to mitigate model overfitting during server-side retraining on labeled *** experiments on several image classification datasets show that our EKDFSSL outperforms current baseline methods.

The most expressive attribute for defining successful software is its quality, which can only be attained when the chances of a defect occurrence are doubtful. Software defect Prediction is a cycle to develop a model that software practitioners can use to detect faulty areas before the testing phase. Prediction of such classes before its testing phase will enable the development team to allocate resources more efficiently. It reduces the testing effort and can yield higher quality software with reduced cost. Prediction of such defects can be further elevated when machine learning techniques are introduced to such a Software defect Prediction (SDP) model. In this paper, we conducted a systematic literature review of the studies that are available on such practices of predicting defects in software before the actual testing is started with a blend of machine learning techniques that provide an edge to software defect prediction model is carried out with the latest Research present in this area providing the most upgrade statistics on Software defect prediction using machine learning. © 2023 IEEE.

Formal methods (FM) are innovative methods which employ mathematical notations to specify explicit and precise requirements. This paper presents a formal model of an automated teller machine (ATM) using Object Constraint Language (OCL) to illustrate the benefits of employing FM to develop commercial applications. FM provide a mathematically rigorous framework for specifying, developing, and verifying software systems. It enhances reliability, robustness, and security. FM plays a crucial role in the context of ATM, which requires high levels of trust and correctness due to their financial and security-critical nature. Using OCL, we demonstrate how formal specifications can be applied to define an ATM system's precise behavior and constraints. It allows for the early detection and correction of errors, reducing development costs and improving overall system quality. This study argues that adopting FM in commercial applications not only boosts the reliability and security of the systems but also increases customer satisfaction and trust. Results of ATM development under OCL have been compared with traditional methods (TM), showing reductions such as 51 % in development time, 53 % in cost, 94 % in ambiguity and 97% in quality and customer trust. © 2024 IEEE.
