This paper proposes a local texture constrained super-resolution method for the reconstruction of high-resolution image. Through the learned low/high-resolution patches from training images, the intended high resolution patches are reconstructed using neighbor embedding method. The major contributions of this paper are: 1) Local Binary Pattern (LBP) is adopted to classify the patches into different categories, only those patches who have the same pattern with the input patches are used as candidates;2) Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) metric which can find the patches with texture most similar to the input is used to search the k most suitable patches in the corresponding category. Experiments show that LBP index can provide proper candidate patches and SSIM metric is better than other metric in finding the most texture similarity patches. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

As one of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) routing protocols, the geographic location-aware routing protocol has two following problems. Firstly, it always depends on GPS to get the geographic location information of nodes which incurs too expensive implementation cost to be widely used. Secondly, its data-gathering scheme is not energy-balanced which leads to some relay/forward nodes to be offline quickly due to their exhaustion. Especially, the network connectivity is influenced tremendously because the energy of hotspots consume too fast, which results in the decrease of network time. In this paper, we first use network coordinate (NC) to obtain relative location information between nodes, which is the prerequisite for implementing our scheme. A new data-gathering ring scheme is proposed to select the optimal neighbor candidate nodes set. Then, we present an energy-balanced method, which takes a comprehensive consideration of location and energy information, to select an optimal node in neighbor candidate nodes set as the next hop. Simulation results show that the network lifetime is prolonged 47 percentages, the total number of packets received by upper layer is more than 33 percentages compared with Leach and the network connectivity of our protocol is much better than that of Leach. © 2012 IEEE.

To more accurately detect small polyps (ranged 5～8mm, also called C2 stage) on the colon wall is of great significance for early diagnosis colorectal cancers. In order to achieve better detection results on small polyps in colon, both relatively global and local method were presented in the literature (or we can say single layer surface based or volume(image) based). However the colon usually consists of the Mucosa layers which result in Partial volume effect (PVE) on the colon wall, the task turns too complicated to be reached by simply following solo philosophy. According to the literature, the sensitivity of detection for small polyps only slightly above 0.83 (polyp size range 5～9mm). Though those results were based on different datasets due to share limitations, the average sensitivity is still not good enough for providing sufficient diagnosis support for further process. We believe that due to the influence of background undulating, small polyps and large polyps(bigger than 8mm) usually have not only some differences in geometric characteristics, but also Significant difference as far as the philosophy of measurement to be concerned. In order to adapt previous method to the mission of the small polyps' detection, a novelty global structure decomposition approach was suggested. By which the complex colon was separated into much uniform broken parts, where the Haustral folds and Haustral wall were broken into two independently kinds of morphological shape by means of analysis on second order derivatives of volume image. Polyp detection will look like finding certain abnormal protrusion on the relatively simple morphological surfaces. Hence the morphologically protruding characteristic of the small polyps will be enhanced in the volume image. Experimentally, we chose 60 patient cases from our database, and in which we focus on the polyps whose size range from 5～8mm to validate the presented new approach. In order to reduce the maintenance cost of structured Peer-to-Peer (P2P),Clone Node Protocol (CNP) based on user behavior is *** considers the regularity of user behavior and uses the method of clone node.A Bidirectional Clone Node Chord model (BCNChord) based on CNP protocol is designed and *** BCNChord,Anticlockwise Searching Algorithm,Difference Push Synchronize Algorithm and Optimal Maintenance Algorithm are put forward to increase the *** experiments,according to the frequency of nodes,the maintenance cost of BCNChord can be 3.5%～32.5% lower than that of *** the network of 212 nodes,the logic path hop is steady at 6,which is much more prior to 12 of Chord and 10 of *** analysis and experimental results show that BCNChord can effectively reduce the maintenance cost of its structure and simultaneously improve the query efficiency up to (1/4)O(logN).BCNChord is more suitable for highly dynamic environment and higher real-time system.

Recently, 3D aided face recognition, concentrating on improving performance of 2D techniques via 3D data, has received increasing attention due to its wide application potential in real condition. In this paper, we present a novel 3D aided face recognition method that can deal with the probe images in different viewpoints. It first estimates the face pose based on the Random Regression Forest, and then rotates the 3D face models in the gallery set to that of the probe pose to generate specific gallery sample for matching, which largely reduces the influence of head pose variations. Experiments are carried out on a subset of the FRGC v1.0 database, and the achieved performance clearly highlights the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

The impact of different shape fibers on the cracking restriction and bearing capacities, and mechanical behaviors of ultra-high performance hybrid-fibers reinforced concrete were experimentally investigated. The compressive strength, flexural strength, fracture energy, and bend ductility of the Ultra-high performance hybrid-fiber reinforced concrete were investigated with cube specimens and beam specimens. The results shown that, when the fiber volume ratio was 2%, compressive strength and flexural strength of long ultra-fine steel fiber reinforced concrete was the highest. Compared with plain concrete, it is increased by 31.4% and 75.7% respectively. The length of fiber has positive effect on flexural strength and ductility. The largest fracture energy and bending toughness index was obtained with hybrid-fibers, where the volume ratio of long ultra-fine fiber was 1.5%, and the ratio of long end-hooked fiber was 0.5%. The hybrid-fibers here have generated positive intermixing effect. © 2012 American Society of civil engineering.

When the coal combustion products are used in soil stabilization and embankments construction, leaching of trace elements into ground-water can be a concern. This paper presents a modeling study to evaluate the impacts of leaching on groundwater from coal combustion products in roadway embankment constructions. A computer program, WiscLEACH, based on three analytical solutions for the advection-dispersion-reaction process in the subsurface was used. The soil stabilization module and embankment module were developed in the program. Predictions made with the analytical method were compared to field data from a fly ash embankment. The predicted concentrations with WiscLEACH are in reasonable agreement with the field data. Dilution factor at the point of compliance was defined and used as quantitative parameter to compare the different scenarios. Parametric studies indicate that the lowest dilution factor exponentially decrease as the thickness of the coal combustion products layer and the seepage velocity in the vadose zone increase. Correlations among the dilution factor at the point of compliance and the construction geometry and hydrogeological condition were also developed. Copyright © 2011 by ASTM International.

Roof greening is an effective way to improve the climate of city. However, with the purpose of spreading roof greening, it is necessary to master water consumption and affecting factors. Consequently, people can formulate irrigating system properly and save water. Meteorological factor is one of the important factors that affecting water consumption. Multiple meteorological indicators were changed into a few composite ones by measuring water consumption of roof greening and using Principle Component Analysis. The results of analysis in principal component analysis method show that, comprehensive indicator such as relative humidity, sunshine hours in the factors affect the water consumption was the first principal components, well, rainfall and temperature was the second or the third principal components in different months. Determination of irrigation system for roof greening must be fully based on the meteorological factors. In many meteorological factors, relative humidity, sunshine hours are the comprehensive indicators which should be considered firstly.

Cloud computing is one of the most significant latest efforts in the field of information technology, which may change the way how information services are provisioned. In a Cloud environment, different types of resources need to be virtualized as a collection of Cloud services using virtualization technology. End-users in the Cloud are usually provided with customized Cloud services that involve not only different kinds of computing services but also the networks interconnecting those computing services. Therefore, a set of Cloud computing services and the networking services should be modeled as a composite customized Cloud service. In this paper, we present an improved model for Cloud service provisioning based on our previous Network-Cloud proposal, and propose a procedure with several QoS-aware service selection algorithms for composing different services offered by a Cloud. Our analysis with numerical experiments show that the presented algorithms can select services appropriately that deal with different requirements of service provisioning. © 2012 IEEE.
