Background: Mental stress and its consequent mental disorders (MDs) constitute a significant public health issue. With the advent of machine learning (ML), there's potential to harness computational techniques for better understanding and addressing mental stress and MDs. This comprehensive review seeks to elucidate the current ML methodologies employed in this domain to pave the way for enhanced detection, prediction, and analysis of mental stress and its subsequent mental disorders. Objective: This review aims to investigate the scope of Machine Learning (ML) methodologies employed in the detection, prediction, and analysis of mental stress and its consequent mental disorders (MDs). Methods: Utilizing a rigorous scoping review process with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extention for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines, this investigation delves into the latest ML algorithms, preprocessing techniques, and data types employed in the context of stress and stress-related MDs. Results and Discussion: Total of 98 peer-reviewed publication were examined for this review. The findings highlight that Support Vector Machine (SVM), Neural Network (NN), and Random Forest (RF) models consistently exhibit superior accuracy and robustness among all machine learning algorithms examined. Physiological parameters such as heart rate measurements and skin response are prevalently used as stress predictors due to their rich explanatory information concerning stress and stress-related MDs, as well as the relative ease of data acquisition. The application of dimensionality reduction techniques, including mappings, feature selection, filtering, and noise reduction, is frequently observed as a crucial step preceding the training of ML algorithms. Conclusion: The synthesis of this review identifies significant research gaps and outlines future directions for the field. Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technologies represent a transformative approach to energy transmission, offering advantages over traditional wired systems such as convenience, flexibility, and reduced maintenance. This paper presents a comprehensive review of current advancements and future prospects in WPT. The review encompasses three primary technologies: electromagnetic induction, magnetic resonance, and microwave transmission, each offering unique benefits and challenges. Recent developments have significantly enhanced WPT efficiency, extended transmission distances, and enabled integration with emerging technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) devices and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Looking forward, the paper identifies several key research directions and challenges. These include improving efficiency through advanced materials and metamaterials, standardization efforts to promote interoperability and safety, and exploration of new applications such as wireless charging in smart cities and space-based applications. The potential impact of WPT on reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enabling sustainable energy practices underscores its importance in future energy landscapes. By synthesizing current knowledge and highlighting future opportunities, this study aims to guide researchers, engineers, and policymakers in accelerating the development and adoption of WPT technologies, paving the way for a moreefficient and interconnected energy ecosystem.

Pulmonary Nodule Detection Based on Multiscale Feature Fusion

As cancer with the highest morbidity and mortality in the world, lung cancer is characterized by pulmonary nodules in the early stage. The detection of pulmonary nodules is an important method for the early detection of lung cancer, which can greatly improve the survival rate of lung cancer patients. However, the accuracy of conventional detection methods for lung nodules is low. With the development of medical imaging technology, deep learning plays an increasingly important role in medical image detection, and pulmonary nodules can be accurately detected by CT images. Based on the above, a pulmonary nodule detection method based on deep learning is proposed. In the candidate nodule detection stage, the multiscale features and Faster R-CNN, a general-purpose detection framework based on deep learning, were combined together to improve the detection of small-sized lung nodules. In the false-positive nodule filtration stage, a 3D convolutional neural network based on multiscale fusion is designed to reduce false-positive nodules. The experiment results show that the candidate nodule detection model based on Faster R-CNN integrating multiscale features has achieved a sensitivity of 98.6%, 10% higher than that of the other single-scale model, the proposed method achieved a sensitivity of 90.5% at the level of 4 false-positive nodules per scan, and the CPM score reached 0.829. The results are higher than methods in other works of literature. It can be seen that the detection method of pulmonary nodules based on multiscale fusion has a higher detection rate for small nodules and improves the classification performance of true and false-positive pulmonary nodules. We introduce SciQAG, a novel framework for automatically generating high-quality science question-answer pairs from a large corpus of scientific literature based on large language models (LLMs). SciQAG consists of a QA generator and a QA evaluator, which work together to extract diverse and research-level questions and answers from scientific papers. Utilizing this framework, we construct a large-scale, high-quality, open-ended science QA dataset containing 188,042 QA pairs extracted from 22,743 scientific papers across 24 scientific domains. We also introduce SciQAG-24D, a new benchmark task designed to evaluate the science question-answering ability of LLMs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that finetuning LLMs on the SciQAG dataset significantly improves their performance on both open-ended question answering and scientific tasks. To foster research and collaboration, we make the datasets, models, and evaluation codes publicly available, contributing to the advancement of science question answering and developing more interpretable and reasoningcapable AI systems. Electromyography (EMG) is extensively used in key biomedical areas, such as prosthetics, and assistive and interactive technologies. EMG signals measure the electrical activity of muscles during different motions. EMG signals play a key role in gesture recognition studies, such as hand gesture recognition. This paper presents a new hybrid neural network named ConSGruNet for precise and efficient hand gesture recognition. The proposed model comprises convolutional neural networks with smart skip connections in conjunction with a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). The proposed model is trained on the complete Ninapro DB1 dataset. The proposed model boasts an accuracy of 99.7% in classifying 53 classes in just 25 milliseconds. In addition to being fast, the proposed model is lightweight with just 3,946 KB in size. The fast inference time and lightweight architecture of the proposed model makes it suitable for resource constrained IoT devices. Moreover, the proposed model has also been evaluated for the reliability parameters, i.e., Cohen’s kappa coefficient, Matthew’s correlation coefficient, and confidence intervals. The close to ideal results of these parameters validate the models performance on unseen data.

Long-term conditions or chronic diseases are multifaceted and challenging. Current treatment options, for patients with long-term conditions, are mainly pharmacological, causing numerous adverse drug events and pressing for alternative management strategies such as personalized interventions. Areas of machine learning, such as deep learning, would enable researchers to develop predictive modelling algorithms, using continuous monitoring and allowing assessing the medical risk for long-term conditions and their related complications. In this paper, we claim that harmonization of data, novel machine learning algorithms, swarm-based technologies, and the involvement of the entire healthcare community will lead to acceptable and effective personalized healthcare. Our proposed approach aims to amplify the intelligence of the healthcare community. Based upon the patients’ characteristics empowers better decisions, personalised medical risk prediction and recommendations of acceptable and effective interventions. Our future work includes the validation of the SwarmAI framework by actively engaging relevant stakeholders.

A tremendous quantity of data is being generated via the Internet of Things (IoT). While our knowledge of how to assess the quality of this data at the network and device levels is expanding, there are still significant obstacles to overcome when it comes to interpreting and assessing the quality at the informational and application levels. If you want to know what aspects impact the overall system quality, this post will go over some of the problems with IoT systems and how to fix them at various OSI levels. Using two digital health apps made possible by the internet of things (IoT), the authors look at how semantics may be used to measure the system’s data quality and how to integrate multimodal information to clinical decision support. Important data quality issues arise from the fact that the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem generates massive amounts of data collected from a variety of heterogeneous sources. The reason for this is that the whole operation of the internet of things system is badly affected by low data quality standards. data quality has been the subject of much research outside of the Internet of Things (IoT) domain, and the idea is backed by massive standardization efforts. However, data quality management inside the IoT has received little attention. An essential idea with many existing applications for issue solving, data quality (DQ) is used in the creation and execution of information, handling data, decision making, as well as engineering systems. But the ways DQ is now integrated into data management pipelines aren’t flexible enough to accommodate all kinds of uses, which limits its use in the IoT space. A generic framework is introduced in this research that allows for the implementation of DQ assessment in a wide range of Internet of Things applications. Semantic segmentation is a way of photo knowhow that entails labeling the objects in a picture on the pixel degree and assigning every pixel within the photograph a category label. Mining the facets of topics is an essential task for information retrieval, information extraction and knowledge base construction. For the topics in courses, there are three challenges: different topics have different facet, the labels of facets rarely appear in the topic description text and not all topics have enough textural information to mine facets. In this paper we propose a weakly-supervised algorithm for topic-specific facet mining (ToFM for short) based on our finding that similar topics in a cluster have similar facet sets. For example, topics Binary Search Tree, Suffix Tree and AVL tree in Tree cluster have example, insertion, deletion, traversal and other similar facets. ToFM first splits topics in a domain into several topic clusters based on the topic description text. Then ToFM extracts initial facet sets for all topics from the corresponding Wikipedia article pages. Finally, ToFM performs a normalized facet propagation within each topic cluster to acquire final facet sets of every topic. We evaluate the performance of ToFM on six real-world datasets and experimental results show that ToFM achieves better performance than the existing facet mining algorithms. © 2021 IEEE.
