Due to the exceptional performance of Transform-ers in 2D medical image segmentation, recent work has also introduced them into 3D medical segmentation tasks. For instance, Swin UNETR and other hierarchical Transformers have reintroduced prior knowledge from several convolutional networks, further enhancing the volume segmentation capabilities of models. The efficacy of these hybrid methodologies is primarily attributed to the substantial quantity of parameters and the nonlocal self-attention mechanism with a large receptive field. We argue that the behavior of these methods' large receptive fields can be simulated by employing fewer parameters through the utilization of depth-wise convolutions with large kernel. Within this manuscript, we introduce a lightweight volume segmentation model called MedX-Net, which uses convolutional network modules to simulate hierarchical Transformers for robust volume segmentation. Firstly, inspired by the hierarchical Transformer module of Swin UNETR, we investigate large-kernel depth-wise convolutions with different sizes to achieve a reduced model parameter count while maintaining a large global receptive field. Secondly, we replace the multilayer perceptron (MLP) in the hierarchical Transformer module with Inverted Bottleneck with Depthwise Convolution Enhancement(DWCE) to improve model performance with fewer activation and normalization layers, further reducing the parameter count. We validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our model for volume segmentation on three public datasets: Synapse, BTCV and ACDC. On the Synapse dataset, compared to Swin UNETR, our model achieves an improvement from 83.48% to 87.21% in Dice score. Compared to the result of 86.57% achieved by nnFormer, our model achieves superior performance while reducing the model parameter count by 64%. © 2024 IEEE.

Trajectory tracking of zebrafish is an important requirement in studying neurological disorders and developing new psychoactive drug. However, many challenges emerge for stable tracking, since zebrafish are similar in appearance, occlusion, agile, non-linear in moving and easy to swarm, all of which will lead to mistrack for multiple fish. And there is no precedent for tracking zebrafish through embedded edge artificial intelligence device. To overcome these difficulties, we present a tracking system for zebrafish based on RK3588-S. First, We construct an embedded edge AI hardware system consisting of two cameras driven by the RK3588-S, one for the front view and the other for top view of the fish. Then, we develop a 2D tracking algorithm based on YOLOv5 and the Observation-Centric Simple online and real-time tracking (OC-SORT) algorithm, which are transplanted to the RK3588-S for tracking the top and front views of the fish at the edge device. Compared with the previous methods, our method has fewer ID exchanges and highly real-time. Moreover, we apply the MQTT mechanism to establish communication links between the edge and the cloud to reliably transmit data to the cloud. The correspondence between cloud server and embedded AI is 1: N. Finally, we design a multi-view data fusion association algorithm to fuse the data of the two views in the cloud, which are further utilized to build the 3D tracklets of the zebrafish. © 2023 IEEE.

Ordinal real-world data such as concept hierarchies, ontologies, genealogies, or task dependencies in scheduling often has the property to not only contain pairwise comparable, but also incomparable elements. Order diagrams provide an important tool for understanding and thus discovering knowledge in such data. Easily readable drawings of such order diagrams are hard to come by, even for small ordered sets. Many attempts were made to transfer classical graph drawing approaches to order diagrams. Although these methods produce satisfying results for some ordered sets, they unfortunately perform poorly in general. In this work, we present the novel algorithm DimDraw to decompose an ordered set (e.g., a concept hierarchy) in linear orders and to produce a corresponding order diagram. This algorithm is based on a relation between the dimension of an ordered set and the bipartiteness of its transitive incompatibility graph. To evaluate the quality of the algorithm, a user study was conducted where generated drawings were compared with ones from state-of-the-art drawing algorithms. © 2023 Brown University. 3D medical image segmentation is an essential task in the medical image field, which aims to segment organs or tumours into different labels. A number of issues exist with the current 3D medical image segmentation task: existing models cannot simultaneously obtain the space correlation and depth correlation of 3D slices;previous models suffer from local detail loss of positional embedding in 3D images;previous approaches often have blurring of boundaries in segmenting 3D images. To solve these shortcomings, we propose a 3D medical image segmentation model named TPM-SAM. In our model, we design a twinchannel image encoder to simultaneously capture the space correlation and depth correlation of 3D slices through a multi-head attention mechanism and improved adapters. Furthermore, we design a prompt encoding generator, which divides the volumetric image into small blocks and better captures the local detail information. In addition, we introduce a multi-layer aggregation decoder by employing U-Net with multi-level skip connection to solve the blurring of boundaries in processing 3D images. Finally, we experimented and evaluated our model on KiTS21 and LiTS17 datasets to compare with other baseline models. © 2024 IEEE.

Drug box recognition is an integral part of the pharmacy automation system (PAS), which checks for discrepancies between the drugs provided by the system and the doctor's prescription with the help of modern image recognition techniques. Although deep learning has facilitated the development of pharmacy automation systems, practical applications still face challenges. First, pharmacies update drugs frequently, and many pharmacies across the country are trained independently, which requires consuming massive computational resources. Secondly, the equipment performance of pharmacies is poor, and it's hard to guarantee the real-time and accuracy of recognition. Therefore, we propose a cloud-side collaborative drug box recognition system. When new drugs are added, the new model is trained in the cloud and uniformly distributed to each edge through this architecture. In terms of real-time recognition, an improved lightweight YOLOv5 model is added to the edge part, and a text recognition module is deployed in the cloud to validate the recognition results at the edge. This cloud-edge collaboration architecture not only ensures the accuracy of recognition, but also reduces the burden on the compute edge, ensures the real-time *** results show that the proposed cloud-edge architecture reduces the recognition latency by 37.18% and achieves a precision of 97.47%. The improved YOLOv5 model reduces GFLOPs by 45% while achieving a 1.6% precision improvement. © 2023 IEEE.

The integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into edge devices such as smartphones represents a significant leap in mobile technology, promising enhanced user experiences and novel functionalities. This paper presents a first look at LLM-powered smartphones, addressing four key aspects: the current market landscape, core functions enabled by integrated LLMs, potential security risks, and user perceptions. The findings reveal a rapidly evolving market with major manufacturers competing to integrate LLMs, innovative features that improve user interaction, significant security challenges, and mixed user perceptions that balance enthusiasm for new capabilities with privacy concerns. This study contributes to understanding LLM integration in mobile devices and its implications for users, manufacturers, and the broader technological landscape. © 2024 ACM.

Dynamic graphs (DG) represent evolving interactions between entities in various real-world scenarios. Many existing DG representation learning models employ a combination of graph convolutional networks and sequence neural networks to capture spatial-temporal dependencies. However, this hybrid approach often fails to effectively capture the spatial-temporal continuity inherent in DGs. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called the Tensor Graph Convolutional Network (TGCN) to learn DG representations within a unified convolution framework based on tensor products. Our approach is founded on two key principles: (a) representing DG information in tensor form, and (b) leveraging tensor product operations to design a graph convolutional network that simultaneously models spatial and temporal features. Experimental results on three real-world DG datasets demonstrate that our proposed model achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Whole-slide image (WSI) classification methods play a crucial role in tumor diagnosis. Most of them use hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stained images, while Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining provides molecular markers and protein expression information that highlights cancer regions. However, obtaining IHC-stained images requires higher costs in practice. In this work, we propose a multi-modal denoising diffusion pre-training framework that harnesses the advantages of IHC staining to learn visual representations. The framework is trained with the H&E-to-IHC re-staining task and IHC-stained image reconstruction task, which helps capture the structural similarity and staining difference between two image modalities. The trained model can then provide IHC-guided features, by taking only H&E-stained images as inputs. Besides, we build a new class-constraint constrastive loss to achieve the semantic consistency between dual-modal features from our pre-training framework. To integrate with WSI classifiers based on multi-instance learning, we further propose a bag feature augmentation strategy to extend bags with the features extracted by our pre-trained model. Experimental results on three datasets show that our pre-training framework effectively improves WSI classification and surpasses the state-of-the-art pre-training approaches.
