This paper develops a new decomposition algorithm for solving Electricity Market Pricing (EMP) problem, taking into account both revenue-adequacy and Fast Frequency Reserve (FFR) constraints. Due to revenue-adequacy constraint, a bilevel model of the EMP problem is introduced (BL-EMP). The upper level of the BL-EMP model represents the non-convex unit commitment (UC) decisions as well as the revenue-adequacy constraints of the market participants (generators, loads, and battery-storage owner). The lower level is a convex economic dispatch model with FFR constraint. To tackle the computational complexity of the considered BL-EMP model, this paper develops, tests, and proposes a Strengthened Primal-Dual Decomposition (SPDD) algorithm, which takes benefits from both Benders-like and Lagrange Dual-like algorithms. The new SPDD algorithm has a series of interesting computational properties, which are theoretically discussed in the paper. The SPDD algorithm has better computational performance than standard Benders decomposition algorithm and it also does not need tuning of the Big-M (or disjunctive) parameters for solving the proposed BL-EMP problem. Results from the modified IEEE 24-bus, the IEEE 118-bus, and the IEEE 300-bus system show the superiority of proposed SPDD algorithm over the classic Benders algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

computer Assisted Diagnosis/Surgery systems provide an indisputable effect on the diagnosis and surgery of hepatic diseases. We developed a CAS system to prepare a virtual environment for a physician so as to interact with liver and decide on the therapy planning. The proposed system is composed of three modules, liver segmentation, vessel extraction, and visualization / interaction. It provides the physician a virtual scalpel to cut the liver. At first, inside of liver together with the vessels are shown to the physician and then the virtual surgery is started. A toggling option makes it easy to reveal inside of liver or make it opaque during the surgery. The width, height, and depth of the cut can be changed by the user. The proposed system is a framework which can later be extended to a complete CAD/CAS system for hepatic disease analysis and therapy planning. © 2010 IEEE.

Purpose: Interest in developing methods appropriate for mapping increasing amounts of genome-wide molecular data are increasing rapidly. There is also an increasing need for methods that are able to efficiently simulate such data. Patients and methods: In this article, we provide a graph-theory approach to find the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a phylogeny matrix with k nonidentical haplotypes, n single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and a population size of m for which the minimum allele frequency of each SNP is between two specific numbers a and b. Results: We introduce an O(max(n ², nm)) algorithm for the random construction of such a phy-logeny matrix. The running time of any algorithm for solving this problem would be ω (nm). The number of research publications in various disciplines is growing exponentially. Researchers and scientists are increasingly finding themselves in the position of having to quickly understand large amounts of technical material. In this paper we present the first steps in producing an automatically generated, readily consumable, technical survey. Specifically we explore the combination of citation information and summarization techniques. Even though prior work (Teufel et al., 2006) argues that citation text is unsuitable for summarization, we show that in the framework of multi-document survey creation, citation texts can play a crucial role. © 2009 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Since the medical training samples are very limited, it is difficult to construct a statistical shape model with good generalization using few samples. In this paper, we propose a novel statistical shape modeling method using 2D PCA. The 3D shape is represented as a matrix by spherical parameterization. The experiments showed that our proposed method can reconstruct statistical shape model with good generalization even using fewer samples.

In this paper,a compact,efficient and easy to fabricate wearable antenna integrated with Artificial Magnetic Conductor(AMC)is *** of slots and bevels/cuts in the rectangular monopole patch antenna yield a wide bandwidth along with band *** proposed antenna is backed with an AMC metasurface that changes the bidirectional radiation pattern to a unidirectional,thus,considerably reducing the Specific Absorption Ratio(SAR).The demonstrated antenna has a good coverage radiating away from the body and presents reduced radiation towards the body with a front-to-back ratio of 13 dB and maximum gain of 3.54 *** proposed design operates over a wide frequency band of 2.9 to 12 GHz(exceeding the designated 3.1−10.6 GHz Ultra-Wideband(UWB)band).The band notches were created using slots on the radiating patch in the sub-bands from 5.50 to 5.67 GHz and 7.16 to 7.74 *** overall dimensions of the structure are 33×33×6.75 *** antenna’s radiation performance increased considerably with the addition of the AMC *** SAR values for the antenna are reduced by 85.3%when the AMC is used and are 0.083 W/kg which is well below the FCC SAR *** simple design,miniaturized profile,low SAR and wide operating bands with multiple band notches make the presented antenna an appealing choice for several UWB wearable body area network(WBAN)applications.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is one of the main components of a smart city. ITS have several purposes including the increase of the safety and comfort of the passengers and the reduction of the road accidents. ITS can enhance safety in three modes before, within and after the collision by preventing accident via assistive system, sensing the collision situation and calculating the time of the collision and providing the emergency response in a timely manner. The main objective of this paper is related to the smart transportation services which can be provided at the time of the collision and after the accident. After the accident, it takes several minutes to hours for the person to contact the emergency department. If an accident takes place for a vehicle in a remote area, this time increases and that may cause the loss of life. In addition, determination of the exact location of the accident is difficult by the emergency centres. That leads to the possibility of erroneous responder act in dispatching the rescue team from the nearest hospital. A new assistive intelligent system is designed in this regard that includes both software and hardware units. Hardware unit is used as an On-Board Unit (OBU), which consists of GPS, GPRS and gyroscope modules. Once OBU detects the accident, a notification system designed and connected to OBU will sent an alarm to the server. The distance to the nearest emergency center is calculated using Dijkstra algorithm. Then the server sends a request for assistance to the nearest emergency centre. The proposed system is developed and tested at local laboratory conditions. The results show that this system can reduce Ambulance Arrival Time (AAT). The preliminary results and architecture of the system have been presented. We propose and evaluate the characteristics of the terahertz (THz) detectors based on perforated graphene layers (PGLs). The PGL structures constitute the interdigital in-plane arrays of the graphene microribbons (GMRs) connected by the sets of narrow constrictions, which form the graphene nanoribbon (GNR) bridges. The PGL detector operation is associated with the rectification and hot-carrier bolometric mechanisms. The excitation of plasmonic oscillations in the GMRs can reinforce these mechanisms. . The room temperature PGL detector responsivity and detectivity are calculated as function of the radiation frequency and device structure parameters. The effects of the rectification and hot-carrier mechanisms are compared. The PGL THz detectors under consideration can exhibit highly competitive values of responsivity and detectivity. © 2025, CC BY.

Developing mathematical models and estimating their parameters are fundamental issues for studying dynamic behaviors of traffic systems. METANET model is one of the most applicable models in traffic modeling in which the parameters have plenty of effects on the model behavior. In this paper, the effects of the model parameters on the model behavior and the estimation quality of the system states in the undetermined parameters are described. The extended Kalman filtering (EKF) algorithm instead of the error back-propagation (BP) algorithm is used to train artificial neural networks (ANNs) for dynamical traffic networks modeling. The basic idea is to prevent over fitting discrepancy occurrence caused by outliers in the training samples by the EKF. Numerical simulations show that the EKF algorithm is greater to the BP algorithm. ©2010 IEEE.
