Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are used in a variety of applications, such as industrial control systems, environmental monitoring, military applications, and structural health monitoring. Energy consumption is a key factor in the lifespan of a WSN, as all sensor nodes are energy-constrained devices. In order to improve energy efficiency, various routing protocols have been developed. These protocols aim to establish paths between sensor nodes and a data sink, while also maximizing the lifespan of the network. However, designing such protocols can be challenging due to the resource and power constraints, as well as the harsh conditions in which sensor nodes often operate. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for improving energy efficiency in WSNs through the use of a distributed clustering-based data aggregation (DCDA) algorithm. In this approach, we use a grid structure as the basis for clustering, with each cluster having a designated cluster head (CH). Rather than transmitting data directly to the base station (BS), sensor nodes (SNs) send their data to their cluster head, which then aggregates and transmits the data to the BS. This approach can extend the network lifetime by reducing the energy required for communication between SNs. Simulations were conducted to evaluate the performance of the DCDA algorithm in a grid-based WSN. The results showed that using the specified parameters for clustering in the protocol significantly reduces the overall energy consumption of the entire network. © 2024 The Author(s).

This article investigates machine learning techniques’ effectiveness at using computed tomography (CT) images to forecast breast cancer, hoping to expedite early identification and plan treatment. Drawing on many different machine learning models, such as CNN, SVM, VGG16, RNN and RF, we did extensive work to measure their performance distinguishing between malignant and benign breast tissue regions. The dataset includes 2,430 CT pictures, with 70% for training and 30% for testing. It has been carefully selected and prepared in order to guarantee robustness and consistency. The precision, and in-sensitivity measure the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity is used as analytic indicators to measure the models’ ability to predict regions of breast cancer accurately. Our findings show that the proposed CNN model achieved an accuracy of 98.75%, superior performance. Other machine learning models are also highlighted in this study, demonstrating how breast cancer can be predicted using various methods. This research will determine the forms and technologies suitable for breast cancer forecasting. Medical imaging and clinical decision-making can move forward because of this research, offering a glimpse into how integrated machine-learning systems can bring greater precision to diagnosis and prognosis. By careful experimentation and analysis, we hope to prepare people for early intervention and personalized treatment methods. Agriculture plays a major role in developing countries like India, however the food security still remains a vital issue. Most of the crops get wasted due to lack of storage facility, transportation, and plant diseases. More than 15% of the crops get wasted in India due to diseases and hence it has become one of the major concern to be resolved. There is a need of automatic system that can identify these diseases and help farmers to take appropriate steps to get rid of crop loss. Farmers have followed the conventional method of identifying the plant disease with their naked eyes, and it not possible for all the farmers to identify these diseases the same way. With the advance in Artificial Intelligence, there is a need to incorporate the facilities of the computer vision in the field of agriculture. Deep Learning rich libraries and user as well as developer friendly environment to work with, all these qualities make Deep Learning as the favorable method to get started with this problem. In this paper we have used Deep Learning because of the advantages it offers to work with images especially in image classification to get improvised results. The methodology includes taking leaves of infected crops and label them as per the disease pattern. The images of infected leaves are processed pixel based operations are applied to improve the information from the image. As a next step feature extraction is done followed by image segmentation and at the last classification of crop diseases based on the patterns extracted from the diseased leaves. The CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) is used for the classification of diseases, for the demonstration purpose the public dataset is used consisting of around 87 K images (RGB type images) including healthy as well as diseased leaves. © 2021

A Graph-Assisted Digital-Twin-Driven Multiagent Shared Offloading for Internet of Vehicles

Vehicular edge computing (VEC) allows vehicles to process part of the tasks locally at the network edge while offloading the rest of the tasks to a centralized cloud server for processing. A massive volume of tasks generated by the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) leads to buffer overflow that causes higher latency. Elevating latency, in turn, can increase network energy consumption. Both higher latency and energy consumption lead to a degradation of network performance. Therefore, VEC design requires a balance between latency and energy consumption tradeoff. To reduce overwhelming amount of offloading to edge servers, a cooperative cluster-based shared offloading strategy has been proposed in this work. We use digital twin technology in VEC for managing and adapting to environmental dynamic changes. Then, we leverage Lyapunov (Ly) optimization to transform the stochastic offloading problem into a more manageable deterministic form. Finally, we present a decentralized coordination graph (CG)-driven Ly-based multiagent deep deterministic policy gradient (CG-LyMADDPG) algorithm that trains agents toward energy efficient optimal offloading policy while maintaining queue stability at a maximum delay constraint. The experimental result shows that the proposed learning significantly outperforms the baseline algorithms for energy savings while maintain queue stability. © 2014 IEEE.

A New Comparative Approach Based on Features of Subcomponents and Machine Learning Algorithms to Detect and Classify Power Quality Disturbances

Current measurement systems based on the IEEE-1159 standard have some limitations and robustness problems under noisy and fast-changing conditions. Besides, applying different methods for each Power Quality Disturbance (PQD) to every window is required but time-consuming and not feasible. Therefore, different kinds of two-stage methods, Detection and Classification (D&C), have been improved in many studies. Then, the required measurement can be performed to define disturbance. For this purpose, a new approach based on features of subcomponents with Machine Learning Algorithms (MLAs) to detect and classify PQDs is proposed. 21-class dataset including single and multiple PQDs under different noisy conditions was prepared randomly. Of this dataset, determined features were extracted and some of these were selected. Then, selected features were trained and tested with some MLAs in a workstation. Results obtained from comparative MLAs and the other classification methods show that the best MLA with related features is Random Forest with 96.97% while LightGBM, k-Nearest Neighbors, and XGBoost 96.85%, 96.73%, and 92.82% accuracy, respectively. Because the selected features, optimized parameters, and the related MLA were obtained by investigating for features provided from the PQDs in the whole parameter space, this approach brings the advantages of high accuracy, low D&C complexity, and computing load. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

In the past many years, counterfeit currency has been proliferating on a large scale in India, which is not just increasing black money but also destroying the value and reputation of Indian currency in the global market. The actual circulation of counterfeit notes across India remains unknown, posing a significant threat to the financial security of ordinary citizen. Hence, this research proposes utilizing YOLOv9 technology, a real time advanced object detection model, to develop a machine-learning system for detecting counterfeit Indian currency. Here we are focusing on the Rs 500 note, and using its images, we are creating a robust model to detect fake currency by training the model with both real and fake denominations of Rs 500. In this, we are using the latest version of YOLO, which is v9, and its latest technology, GELAN, which improves the accuracy and efficiency of the model to detect the fake currency notes from the real one using image processing Techniques. © 2024 IEEE.
