High Dynamic Range Imaging for Dynamic Scenes Based on Multi-Level Spike Camera

Spike camera is a retina-inspired neuromorphic camera which can capture dynamic scenes of high-speed motion by firing a continuous stream of spikes at an extremely high temporal resolution. The limitation in the current design is that each spike only represents the arrival of a fixed amount of photons. It can not deal with strong light areas in which the amount of accumulated photons reaches the pre-specified threshold multiple times within a single readout interval. In this paper, we propose a new spike camera model of high-speed imaging for high dynamic range scenarios. In this scheme, each pixel accumulates the incoming photons persistently and generates a new type of spike stream in which each spike symbol may be associated with different levels, indicating the arrival of different amounts of photons since the last readout. This enables the camera to support dynamic scenes with wider dynamic range. To achieve this, we propose a two-level buffer mechanism, one for photon accumulation and one for spike-firing encoding. We use a register to hold the number of spike-firings which has not been read out yet. At each readout time, the major part in the counter is read out via a carefully designed exponential encoding and the counter is updated. Such encoding and readout strategy enables a very efficient expansion of the dynamic range using a small number of encoding bits. Furthermore, we propose an image reconstruction scheme for the proposed camera, utilizing both spike intervals and spike levels to recover the light intensity. We incorporate Mamba and propose a temporal-spatial selective scan mechanism to extract temporal-spatial correlation within spike streams. We employ a pyramid adaptive filtering and alignment module to achieve coarse-to-fine feature alignment. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme can achieve better imaging quality and outperform the existing spike camera in high dynamic range scenarios. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

Recently,β-Ga_(2)O_(3),an ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor,has shown great potential to be used in power devices blessed with its unique material *** instance,the measured average critical field of the vertical Schottky barrier diode(SBD)based onβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) has reached 5.45 MV/cm,and no device in any material has measured a greater ***,the high electric field of theβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) SBD makes it challenging to manage the electric field distribution and leakage ***,we showβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) junction barrier Schottky diode with NiO p-well floating field rings(FFRs).For the central anode,we filled a circular trench array with NiO to reduce the surface field under the Schottky contact between them to reduce the leakage current of the *** the anode edge,experimental results have demonstrated that the produced NiO/β-Ga_(2)O_(3) heterojunction FFRs enable the spreading of the depletion region,thereby mitigating the crowding effect of electric fields at the anode ***,simulation results indicated that the p-NiO field plate structure designed at the edges of the rings and central anode can further reduce the electric *** work verified the feasibility of the heterojunction FFRs inβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) devices based on the experimental findings and provided ideas for managing the electric field ofβ-Ga_(2)O_(3) SBD.

Novel algorithm for detection and identification of radioactive materials in an urban environment

This study introduces a novel algorithm to detect and identify radioactive materials in urban settings using time-series detector response data. To address the challenges posed by varying backgrounds and to enhance the quality and reliability of the energy spectrum data, we devised a temporal energy window. This partitioned the time-series detector response data, resulting in energy spectra that emphasize the vital information pertaining to radioactive materials. We then extracted characteristic features of these energy spectra, relying on the formation mechanism and measurement principles of the gammaray instrument spectrum. These features encompassed aggregated counts, peak-to-flat ratios, and peak-to-peak ratios. This methodology not only simplified the interpretation of the energy spectra's physical significance but also eliminated the necessity for peak searching and individual peak analyses. Given the requirements of imbalanced multi-classification, we created a detection and identification model using a weighted k-nearest neighbors(KNN) framework. This model recognized that energy spectra of identical radioactive materials exhibit minimal inter-class similarity. Consequently, it considerably boosted the classification accuracy of minority classes, enhancing the classifier's overall efficacy. We also executed a series of comparative experiments. Established methods for radionuclide identification classification, such as standard KNN, support vector machine, Bayesian network, and random tree, were used for comparison purposes. Our proposed algorithm realized an F1 measure of 0.9868 on the time-series detector response data, reflecting a minimum enhancement of 0.3% in comparison with other techniques. The results conclusively show that our algorithm outperforms others when applied to time-series detector response data in urban contexts.

A Frog-Shaped UWB MIMO Antenna Design for 5G

In this paper, a frog-shaped ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is proposed for 5G applications in the n77, n78, n79, and 6 GHz bands with a compact antenna structure of 31 × 55 × 1.5 mm3. The designed antenna consists of two frog-shaped monopole antennas and a floor from which a part has been removed, and the operating bandwidths range from 3.05 to 13.38 GHz, which meets the design criteria for UWB. The T-shaped floor with two T-shaped slots impedes the flow of coupling currents and improves the isolation of the antenna. This results in an isolation of less than −17 dB over the entire operating bandwidth and less than −20 dB in the 5G band. In addition, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is less than 0.007, the diversity gain (DG) more than 9.96, the total active reflection coefficient (TARC) less than −30 dB, and the channel capacity loss (CCL) less than 0.34 bit/s/Hz. The measured and simulated results agree with each other, demonstrating the antenna’s potential application in 5G communication systems. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. All rights reserved.

A Steel Surface Defect Detection Model Based on YOLOv7-tiny

This article designs the PELAN structure based on the lightweight YOLOv7-tiny model for surface defect detection of hot-rolled steel strips. At the same time, the CA (Channel Attention) is embedded in the feature pyramid structure and the Slim-Neck structure is introduced at the neck. Through experimental result analysis, it is proved that the lightweight algorithm not only reduces model complexity, but also has better detection accuracy and processing speed. This article focuses on exploring the potential of lightweight YOLOv7-tiny models in steel surface defect detection. With the advancement of Industry 4.0, quickly and accurately detecting surface defects on steel strips has become crucial. However, traditional defect detection methods often face issues such as large computational requirements and poor real-time performance. Therefore, we have designed a novel PELAN structure that combines CA(Channel Attention)and Slim-Neck structure. CBIR: a novel identification approach for college students in need based on consumer behavior psychology theory

The accurate identification of students in need is crucial for governments and colleges to allocate resources more effectively and enhance social equity and educational fairness. Existing approaches to identifying students in need rely on manual operations that include manually extracting consumption behavior information, statistical consumption characteristics and principal component analysis. However, this issue may lead to low prediction accuracy and inefficiency in identifying students in need. We design a three-stage framework to accurately identify college students in need from the perspective of consumer behavior psychology. The consumption behavior information is first obtained from the student consumption records using the consumption behavior clustering approach. The consumption behavior matrix is then built by extracting consumption and spatiotemporal information in different periods. Finally, a novel consumption behavior identification ResNeSt (CBIR) model is proposed to identify college students in need accurately. The experimental results on real datasets show that the CBIR model has higher prediction accuracy than the baseline models. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Incremental Weighted Ensemble for Data Streams With Concept Drift

As a popular strategy to tackle concept drift, chunk-based ensemble method adapts a new concept by adjusting the weights of historical classifiers. However, most previous approaches normally evaluate the historical classifier based on an entire chunk newly arrived, which may cause delayed adaptation. To address the issue, two novel ensemble models, named incremental weighted ensemble (IWE) and incremental weighted ensemble for multi-classification (IWE-M), are proposed. At each time step, all base classifiers are incrementally updated on a newly arrived instance. Following that, the instance is collected into a cache array. Once a data chunk is formed, a new base classifier is created. More specially, a forgetting mechanism based on variable-size window is designed to adjust the weight of each base classifier in IWE in terms of its classification accuracy on the latest instances in an online manner. IWE-M, an extension of IWE, aims to solve multiclass problems with local concept drifts. In IWE-M, the weight of a base classifier is expanded to a weight vector. In this way, this ensemble model can retain specific historical information about nondrift regions from a local drift. Experimental results show that the proposed ensemble frameworks outperform six competitive approaches on accuracy and G-mean. © 2020 IEEE.

Streaming Histogram Publication over Weighted Sliding Windows Under Differential Privacy

Continuously publishing histograms in data streams is crucial to many real-time applications,as it provides not only critical statistical information,but also reduces privacy leaking *** the importance of elements usually decreases over time in data streams,in this paper we model a data stream by a sequence of weighted sliding windows,and then study how to publish histograms over these windows *** existing literature can hardly solve this problem in a real-time way,because they need to buffer all elements in each sliding window,resulting in high computational overhead and prohibitive storage *** this paper,we overcome this drawback by proposing an online algorithm denoted by Efficient Streaming Histogram Publishing(ESHP)to continuously publish histograms over weighted sliding ***,our method first creates a novel sketching structure,called Approximate-Estimate Sketch(AESketch),to maintain the counting information of each histogram interval at every time instance;then,it creates histograms that satisfy the differential privacy requirement by smartly adding appropriate noise values into the sketching *** experimental results and rigorous theoretical analysis demonstrate that the ESHP method can offer equivalent data utility with significantly lower computational overhead and storage costs when compared to other existing methods.

A Transparent Ultra-wideband Antenna Fed by CPW Based on Characteristic Mode Theory

This paper proposes a high isolation transparent ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna based on characteristic mode theory. The antenna consists of four coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed UWB monopoles, each of which is hollowed out into a mesh structure guided by feature mode theory with metal and substrates, with an excitation added at the feed point to successfully excite modes 1, 3, 5, and 7. These excited modes cover a frequency range of 1.7-13 GHz. An orthogonal layout is adopted to make the antenna structure more compact. Ultimately, a transparency of 76.3% and a radiation efficiency of over 85% are achieved, with an effective frequency band coverage of 1.32-12.15 GHz. A fan-shaped metal mesh (MM) decoupling structure is printed on the mesh structure of the antenna substrate, achieving isolation greater than 20 dB between any two components without reducing the antenna’s transparency. Across the entire operating frequency band, the gain of the antenna varies from 1.3 to 5.5 dBi within the effective bandwidth, and the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is less than 0.001. Additionally, the antenna exhibits good radiation characteristics. It can be easily manufactured at a low cost using traditional printed circuit board (PCB) and laser cutting techniques. © ACES.
