With the proliferation of data-intensive industrial applications, the collaboration of computing powers among standalone edge servers is vital to provision such services for smart devices. In this paper, we propose an edge-driven industrial computing power network (CPN) by orchestrating the computing and network resources of edge servers through the centralized resource scheduling and decentralized task computing. However, efficient task offloading and collaborative processing is challenging, which requires higher degrees of network automation and intelligence. Therefore, we incorporate digital twins (DTs) into the edge-driven CPN architecture, where the DTs are created as the digital replicas to assist both the computation offloading and collaborative processing. A joint optimization problem of the computing power assignment, service association, task partition, and transmit power control is formulated for maximizing the system average weighted utility. Due to the temporal-spatial variability of tasks and the resulted dynamic environment, we transform the original problem as a Markov decision process aiming at maximizing the long-term average weighted utility. To efficiently handle the high-dimensional discrete-continuous action space, a hybrid soft actor-critic based deep reinforcement learning algorithm is developed for optimizing the joint design. Simulation results validate the superiority of our proposed algorithm over the benchmarks, showing the significant gains obtained by integrating DTs into the edge-driven CPN. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

The optimization of operational amplifiers, including topology design and parameter tuning, is significantly challenging, given the high-dimensional and heterogeneous characteristics of the design space. This paper presents MACRO, a novel approach to operational amplifier design that employs multi-agent reinforcement learning for cross-layer optimization. We model the sequentially executed topology design and parameter tuning tasks as a Markov decision process, where the high-dimensional design space is effectively transformed into a series of manageable action spaces at each step. Two agents are meticulously tailored to specialize in these two distinct tasks respectively. The co-evolution of the agents is ensured by sharing design information and customizing the policy-gradient training method. Experimental results show that, compared with state-of-the-art methods, MACRO can produce superior-performing circuits while maintaining competitive design efficiency.

Along with the development of smart energy, we take typical integrated energy systems (IES) into research considering various coupling modes and constraints, building a model of the IES for combined cooling, heating and power system, and propose the using of gas micro-turbine as a power supply. On this basis, the three dimension particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied to conduct operational and management research in one typical day, which provides a reference for the economic and low-carbon planning and operation of the IES, moreover demonstrates the superiority and effectiveness of the integrated energy systems compared to the traditional discrete energy systems. Furthermore, the paper gives the effective steps of allocation and optimization methods and vision of integrated energy systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Laying the Foundation First? Investigating the Generalization from Atomic Skills to Complex Reasoning Tasks

Current language models have demonstrated their capability to develop basic reasoning, but struggle in more complicated reasoning tasks that require a combination of atomic skills, such as math word problem requiring skills like arithmetic and unit conversion. Previous methods either do not improve the inherent atomic skills of models or not attempt to generalize the atomic skills to complex reasoning tasks. In this paper, we first propose a probing framework to investigate whether the atomic skill can spontaneously generalize to complex reasoning tasks. Then, we introduce a hierarchical curriculum learning training strategy to achieve better skill generalization. In our experiments, we find that atomic skills can not spontaneously generalize to compositional tasks. By leveraging hierarchical curriculum learning, we successfully induce generalization, significantly improve the performance of open-source LMs on complex reasoning tasks. Promisingly, the skill generalization exhibit effective in crossdataset and cross-domain scenarios. Complex reasoning can also help enhance atomic skills. Our findings offer valuable guidance for designing better training strategies for complex reasoning tasks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

For the sake of the fixed magnitude of candidate control sets, the conventional model predictive current control (MPCC) for asymmetric six-phase permanent magnet motors suffers from huge harmonic currents. This article designs a novel MPCC that aims to improve operational performance. First, virtual-voltage vector (VV) sets are synthesized as the new candidate vectors to restrain harmonic currents. Then, a simplified method for evaluating voltage vectors is used to alleviate the computation in the enumeration process. Moreover, the duty cycle modulation with the deadbeat solution is introduced to optimize the magnitude of the VV. The modulation range can be expanded by utilizing null vectors, which will significantly reduce the torque fluctuations and flux ripples. The experiments are conducted to verify the designed control strategy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Increasingly complex systems contain large numbers of devices that generate great number of multivariate time series that are monitored and recorded. For anomaly detection of these complex time series, deep learning technology is often used to build a learning model for anomaly detection. The method based on deep learning usually takes a long time to train data in practice, and the online service system is deployed or changed very frequently, which makes the online service system need to frequently spend a lot of time updating the anomaly detection model. To overcome this challenge, this paper proposes a fast multivariate time series anomaly detection (FMAD) approach based on matrix completion. After sampling the primitive low-rank matrix, FMAD uses matrix completion to reconstruct the original low-rank matrix to detect anomalies in multivariate time series. We conducted related experimental analysis and discussion. The experimental results on three real data sets show that FMAD has improved the problem of too long model training time and improved the detection efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

As the number and complexity of constraints in constrained multi-objective optimization problems (CMOPs) increase, the performance of existing constrained multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (CMOEAs) declines significantly. A novel idea is to sequentially address each constraint based on priority, effectively reducing the complexity of CMOPs. However, in these algorithms, the constraint-handling priority is determined statically in the initial stage. This may lead to inappropriate determination of constraint-handling priority since accurately estimating the constraint landscape in the initial stage is quite challenging. Moreover, these algorithms tackle constraints separately, neglecting the potential for inter-constraint cooperation and thus compromising their efficiency in constraint handling. Thus, we propose a constrained multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on dynamic priority and cooperative offspring generation called DPCMOEA. Firstly, the constraint-handling priority is determined dynamically by the estimated inconsistency degree (EID) between the Pareto fronts of the candidate constraints and the current population. Secondly, computational resources are automatically allocated to each constraint according to EID based constraint relationship analysis. Finally, a new offspring generation strategy based on constraint cooperation is designed to enhance the quality of new solutions. Experimental results on six CMOP test suites demonstrate that DPCMOEA outperforms six state-of-the-art algorithms. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

In modern datacenters, memory disaggregation un-packs monolithic servers to build independent network-connected compute and memory pools, greatly improving resource uti-lization. Existing memory-disaggregated key-value stores adopt ownership sharing or ownership partitioning for request scheduling and they all show poor performance and scalability. The former generates multiple cache misses and multiple network round trips due to poor cache locality, while the latter fails to fully use resources on all Compute Nodes (CNs) due to load imbalance. In this paper, we propose Seastar, a fast and scalable key-value store that achieves high cache locality as well as load balancing. To enable high concurrency and ensure linearizability, Seastar exploits a self-verification version chain to provide out-of-place atomic updates and ensure consistent reads. To improve cache locality, Seastar leverages a pair-based ownership assigning scheme to assign the processing permission of requests corre-sponding to each key to a CN pair through two independent hash functions. To ensure load balancing among CNs, Seastar proposes a decentralized power-of-two-choices routing scheme to route the requests to the less-loaded CNs in CN pairs for handling. Experimental results demonstrate that Seastar improves the throughput by up to 6.7x and significantly reduces the latency compared with state-of-the-art memory-disaggregated key-value stores. © 2024 IEEE.

Backdoor attacks can mislead deep bug search models by exploring model-sensitive assembly code, which can change alerts to benign results and cause buggy binaries to enter production environments. But assembly instructions have strict constraints and dependencies, and these additional model-sensitive assembly codes destroy semantics and syntax and are easily detected by dynamic analysis or context-based detection. To escape from the dynamic analysis-based detection, we propose a novel latent backdoor attack (LateBA) scheme based on the locality principle of program execution, which only poisons a few of infrequent execution codes, minimizing the effects on the original code logic. In LateBA, a progressive seed mutating strategy is designated to change the American Fuzzy Lop (AFL)-based path search tool to pay more attention to infrequent execution codes. With this strategy, the optimal range to positions in the whole program is determined. Subsequently, triggers are target model-sensitive assembly instructions, and try to minimize the variables that have been called in the context instructions in the trigger. Finally, we employ code semantic feature comparisons to select precise trigger injection positions within these ranges. The selection criteria of the trigger injection position is whether the corresponding code segments in this position have a data dependency relationship with other code segments. We evaluate the performance of LateBA over 7 deep bug search tasks. The results demonstrate the attack success rate of the proposed LateBA is considerable and competitive against the baselines. © 2024 Owner/Author.

Task-oriented dialogue (TOD) systems aim to efficiently handle task-oriented conversations, including information collection. How to utilize TOD accurately, efficiently and effectively for information collection has always been a critical and challenging task. Recent studies have demonstrated that Large Language Models (LLMs) excel in dialogue, instruction generation, and reasoning, and can significantly enhance the performance of TOD through fine-tuning. However, current datasets primarily cater to user-led systems and are limited to predefined specific scenarios and slots, thereby necessitating improvements in the proactiveness, diversity, and capabilities of TOD. In this study, we present a detailed multi-domain task-oriented data construction process for conversations, and a Chinese dialogue dataset generated based on this process, TransferTOD, which authentically simulates human-computer dialogues in 30 popular life service scenarios. Leveraging this dataset, we trained a model using full-parameter fine-tuning called TransferTOD-7B, showcasing notable abilities in slot filling and questioning. Our work has demonstrated its strong generalization capabilities in various downstream scenarios, significantly enhancing both data utilization efficiency and system performance.
