A privacy and compliance in regulated anonymous payment system based on blockchain

Decentralized Anonymous Payment Systems (DAP), often known as cryptocurrencies, stand out as some of the most innovative and successful applications on the blockchain. These systems have garnered significant attention in the financial industry due to their highly secure and reliable features. Regrettably, the DAP system can be exploited to fund illegal activities such as drug dealing and terrorism. Therefore, governments are increasingly worried about the illicit use of DAP systems, which poses a critical threat to their security. This paper proposes Privacy and Compliance in Regulated Anonymous Payment System Based on Blockchain (PCRAP), which provides government supervision and enforces regulations over transactions without sacrificing the essential idea of the blockchain, that is, without surrendering transaction privacy or anonymity of the participants. The key characteristic of the proposed scheme is using a ring signature and stealth address to ensure the anonymity of both the sender and receiver of the transaction. Moreover, a Merkle Tree is used to guarantee government supervision and enforce regulations. Our proposed scheme satisfies most of the stringent security requirements and complies with the standards of secure payment systems. Additionally, while our work supports government regulations and supervision, it guarantees unconditional anonymity for users. Furthermore, the performance analysis demonstrates that our suggested scheme still remains applicable and effective even when achieving complete anonymity. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

SeaCap: Multi-Sight Embedding and Alignment for One-Stage Image Captioner

Recent mainstream image captioning methods usually adopt two-stage captioners, i.e., calculating the object features of the given image by a pre-trained detector and then feeding them into a language model to generate the descriptive sentences. However, such a two-stage procedure will lead to a task-based information gap that decreases the performance of the captioners, because the object features learned from the detection task are suboptimal representations and cannot provide all the necessary information for subsequent sentence generation. Besides, the object features are usually represented by the last pooling features of the detector that lose the local details of images. In this paper, we propose a novel One-Stage Image Captioner using dynamic multi-sight embedding and alignment, called SeaCap, which directly transforms input images into descriptive sentences in one stage to eliminate the information gap. Specifically, to obtain rich features, we use the Swin Transformer to capture multi-level features, followed by a sights alignment module to alleviate the vision confusion, and then feed them into a novel dynamic multi-sight embedding module to exploit both the global structure and local texture of input images. To enhance the global modeling capacity of the visual encoder, we propose a new dual-dimensional refining module to non-locally model the interaction of the embedded features. As a result, SeaCap can obtain rich and useful information to improve the performance of the captioner. Extensive comparisons on the benchmark MS-COCO, Flickr8K and Flickr30 K datasets verified the superior performance of our method. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

Fixed-time command filtered output feedback control for twin-roll inclined casting system with prescribed performance

The article investigates the issue of fixed-time control with adaptive output feedback for a twin-roll inclined casting system (TRICS) with disturbance. First, by using the mean value theorem, the nonaffine functions are decoupled to simplify the system. Second, radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) are introduced to approximate an unknown term, and a nonlinear neural state observer is created to handle the effects of unmeasured states. Then, the backstepping design framework is combined with prescribed performance and command filtering techniques to demonstrate that the scheme proposed in this article guarantees system performance within a fixed-time. The control design parameters determine the upper bound of settling time, regardless of the initial state of the system. Meanwhile, it ensures that all signals in the closed-loop system (CLS) remain bounded, and it can also maintain the tracking error within a predefined range within a fixed time. Finally, simulation results assert the effectiveness of the method. © 2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press. Network Traffic Anomaly Detection Based on DGBi-SA Model

Network traffic anomaly detection plays a crucial role in today's network security and performance management. In response to the challenges in current network traffic data processing, such as insufficient structuring and dynamics, the paper proposes a network traffic anomaly detection approach based on DGBi-SA model, which integrates Dynamic Graph Convolutional Networks (DyGCN), Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), and the Self-Attention mechanism. To solve the problem of insufficient structuring, the model employs DyGCN to capture network traffic's dynamic graph structural characteristics proficiently. Simultaneously, combining Bi-LSTM and the Self-Attention mechanism enhances the model's ability to capture temporal and spatial dependencies. The main objective of the research in the paper is to improve the accuracy and detection efficiency of network traffic prediction, thereby achieving effective detection and timely response to abnormal behaviors in complex network environments. Through a sequence of experiments conducted on the CICIDS-2017 dataset, the paper verifies that the DGBi-SA model can effectively solve the above problems. The experimental results indicate that the model outperforms existing methods in key performance indicators such as AUC, precision, recall, and F1 score, thereby proving that the DGBi-SA model has important application value and scientific significance in network traffic anomaly detection. © 2025, International Association of Engineers. A topical VAEGAN-IHMM approach for automatic story segmentation

Feature representations with rich topic information can greatly improve the performance of story segmentation tasks. VAEGAN offers distinct advantages in feature learning by combining variational autoencoder (VAE) and generative adversarial network (GAN), which not only captures intricate data representations through VAE's probabilistic encoding and decoding mechanism but also enhances feature diversity and quality via GAN's adversarial training. To better learn topical domain representation, we used a topical classifier to supervise the training process of VAEGAN. Based on the learned feature, a segmentor splits the document into shorter ones with different topics. Hidden Markov model (HMM) is a popular approach for story segmentation, in which stories are viewed as instances of topics (hidden states). The number of states has to be set manually but it is often unknown in real scenarios. To solve this problem, we proposed an infinite HMM (IHMM) approach which utilized an HDP prior on transition matrices over countably infinite state spaces to automatically infer the state's number from the data. Given a running text, a Blocked Gibbis sampler labeled the states with topic classes. The position where the topic changes was a story boundary. Experimental results on the TDT2 corpus demonstrated that the proposed topical VAEGAN-IHMM approach was significantly better than the traditional HMM method in story segmentation tasks and achieved state-of-the-art performance. © 2024 the Author(s).

Detections of Ginkgoes are prerequisites for later counting and harvesting. Due to the uneven distribution of samples, the detection speed and accuracy of existing algorithms cannot adapt to the impact of complex environments. Therefore, an enhanced model YOLOv7-DC based on YOLOv7 is proposed in this paper, which redesigns the detection network and introduces a new feature fusion method. DCNv2 is embedded in the efficient layer aggregation network (ELAN), while PConv is utilized instead of conventional convolution to reduce the parameter impact of DCNv2. Moreover, the attention mechanism CBAM is introduced during training to enhance spatial and channel information, and the ConvMixer architecture is employed to capture spatial and channel relationships within the features, which are transmitted to the detection head through attention mechanism, improving the model's detection accuracy for each specific classification sample. Experimental results show that our YOLOv7-DC achieves both excellent detection speed and recognition rate in various classification tasks. The improved model's average detection accuracy is increased by 6.2% compared to previous algorithms, and the model parameters are reduced by 13%. It is proved that YOLOv7-DC is more suitable for scenarios with imbalanced samples and complex environments. © 2024 IEEE.

LSRN-AED: lightweight super-resolution network based on asymmetric encoder–decoder

Due to limited memory and computing resources, the application of deep neural networks on embedded and mobile devices is still a great challenge. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a lightweight super-resolution network based on asymmetric encoder–decoder (LSRN-AED), which achieves better performance while reducing model parameters and computation. On the basis of rethinking the roles of encoder and decoder, an asymmetric encoder–decoder (AED) composed of complex encoders and simple decoders is designed to achieve feature extraction and reconstruction. Here, the decoder only adopts one inverted residual block, which can reduce the computational cost of the model and the redundancy of mapping features. For the encoder, inspired by the Transformer structure, an epiphany encoder is designed to realize the feature extraction and representation. In the encoder, a multi-way epiphany attention module (MEAM) is constructed, in which inverted residual blocks are used to replace traditional residual blocks to extract features and reduce model complexity. To realize the selection and enhancement of spatial features, an epiphany attention block (EAB) is designed by exploiting depth-wise convolutions which can learn the significant spatial information of the feature maps. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed LSRN-AED can achieve better performance at lower parameter cost and outperform some existing state-of-the-art lightweight models. For example, compared to the advanced SMSR method, the proposed LSRN-AED has better evaluation metrics while reducing the number of parameters by 45%, 44%, and 44%, and FLOPs by 44%, 42%, and 41% on the × 2/3/4 SR tasks, respectively.
