X-ray Security Inspection Prohibited Items Detection Model based on Improved YOLOv7-tiny

X-ray security inspection for detecting prohibited items is widely used to maintain social order and ensure the safety of people’s lives and property. Due to the large number of parameters and high computational complexity, most current object detection models are challenging to deploy on portable mobile security inspection devices. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved YOLOv7-tiny model for application in prohibited item detection tasks. Firstly, the feature extraction backbone network is replaced with the lightweight GhostNet network to reduce computational complexity and improve detection speed. Secondly, the FPN in the Neck is replaced with BiFPN, further reducing computational complexity and memory access through skip connections. Finally, a lightweight CA attention mechanism is embedded between the Backbone and Neck layers, and the Focal-EIoU Loss function is employed to enhance the detection capability for small-sized items. Experimental results on the SIXray public dataset show a 14.8% reduction in model parameters, a 19.7% reduction in computational complexity, and a 15.9% reduction in volume after the improvements. The detection speed increases from 82.4 to 90.2, and the detection accuracy for prohibited items reaches 90.3%. The experimental results demonstrate that the improved model achieves overall lightweighting while maintaining a high detection rate and improving detection speed. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). LSRN-AED: lightweight super-resolution network based on asymmetric encoder–decoder

Due to limited memory and computing resources, the application of deep neural networks on embedded and mobile devices is still a great challenge. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a lightweight super-resolution network based on asymmetric encoder–decoder (LSRN-AED), which achieves better performance while reducing model parameters and computation. On the basis of rethinking the roles of encoder and decoder, an asymmetric encoder–decoder (AED) composed of complex encoders and simple decoders is designed to achieve feature extraction and reconstruction. Here, the decoder only adopts one inverted residual block, which can reduce the computational cost of the model and the redundancy of mapping features. For the encoder, inspired by the Transformer structure, an epiphany encoder is designed to realize the feature extraction and representation. In the encoder, a multi-way epiphany attention module (MEAM) is constructed, in which inverted residual blocks are used to replace traditional residual blocks to extract features and reduce model complexity. To realize the selection and enhancement of spatial features, an epiphany attention block (EAB) is designed by exploiting depth-wise convolutions which can learn the significant spatial information of the feature maps. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed LSRN-AED can achieve better performance at lower parameter cost and outperform some existing state-of-the-art lightweight models. For example, compared to the advanced SMSR method, the proposed LSRN-AED has better evaluation metrics while reducing the number of parameters by 45%, 44%, and 44%, and FLOPs by 44%, 42%, and 41% on the × 2/3/4 SR tasks, respectively. Cardinality estimation for property graph queries with gated learning approach on the graph database

With the increasing complexity of graph query processing tasks, it is difficult for users to obtain the accurate cardinality before or during the execution of query tasks. Accurate estimate query cardinality is crucial for property graph data model, which usually involves entities, multiple joins, and various types of properties (key-value pairs). While learning-based approaches have been used in query optimization, estimating the cardinality of property graph queries is still particularly challenging. In this paper, we first formally represent each property graph query and then divide the estimation process into three phases: query execution, training data generation, and model training. Secondly, we construct a data pool to deal the updating query workloads in the training data generation phase. Thirdly, we utilize the gate mechanism to develop a cardinality estimation framework based on deep learning neural networks for property graph queries in the Neo4j database, and we propose a hybrid loss function to optimize the training process. Finally, we adopt a method of pre-aggregating the underlying data to speed up query execution in the first phase. The result of the experiment on two real-world datasets shows that our optimized methods can effectively improve the estimation accuracy of the deep learning model, and our query estimator outperforms other deep learning models compared in terms of estimation accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Loop Subgraph-Level Greedy Mapping Algorithm for Grid Coarse-Grained Reconfigurable Array

To solve the problem of grid coarse-grained reconfigurable array task mapping under multiple constraints,we propose a Loop Subgraph-Level Greedy Mapping(LSLGM)algorithm using parallelism and processing element *** the constraint of a reconfigurable array,the LSLGM algorithm schedules node from a ready queue to the current reconfigurable cell array *** mapping a node,its successor’s indegree value will be dynamically *** its successor’s indegree is zero,it will be directly scheduled to the ready queue;otherwise,the predecessor must be dynamically *** the predecessor cannot be mapped,it will be scheduled to a blocking *** dynamically adjust the ready node scheduling order,the scheduling function is constructed by exploiting factors,such as node number,node level,and node *** with the loop subgraph-level mapping algorithm,experimental results show that the total cycles of the LSLGM algorithm decreases by an average of 33.0%(PEA44)and 33.9%(PEA_(7×7)).Compared with the epimorphism map algorithm,the total cycles of the LSLGM algorithm decrease by an average of 38.1%(PEA_(4×4))and 39.0%(PEA_(7×7)).The feasibility of LSLGM is verified.

Heterologous Image Matching Based on Salience Region

To address the matching problem caused by the significant differences in spatial features, spectrum and contrast between heterologous images, a heterologous image matching method based on salience region is proposed in this paper. Firstly, texture features and corner features are detected. Secondly, the epanechnikov kernel function is used to calculate the point with the maximum kernel function value among all feature points, which is then defined as E-point. Thirdly, the salience region is defined and extracted according to the position of the E-point. Finally, six groups of heterologous images are used as data sources, and compared with HAPCG, HOWP, SIFT, and PSO_SIFT algorithms respectively. The results show that the comprehensive matching performance of the proposed method is better than the original algorithm without salience region processing. The root mean square error and the matching time are less than the original method while ensuring a similar number of matching points, which greatly improves the accuracy and speed of heterologous image matching. © (2025.0), (International Association of Engineers). Hyperspectral image super-resolution (HISR) aims to fuse a low-resolution hyperspectral image (LR-HSI) with a high-resolution multispectral image (HR-MSI) to obtain a high-resolution hyperspectral image (HR-HSI). Due to some existing HISR methods ignoring the significant feature difference between LR-HSI and HR-MSI, the reconstructed HR-HSI typically exhibits spectral distortion and blurring of spatial texture. To solve this issue, we propose a multi-scale feature transfer network (MFTN) for HISR. Firstly, three multi-scale feature extractors are constructed to extract features of different scales from the input images. Then, a multi-scale feature transfer module (MFTM) consisting of three improved feature matching Transformers (IMatchFormers) is designed to learn the detail features of different scales from HR-MSI by establishing the cross-model feature correlation between LR-HSI and degraded HR-MSI. Finally, a multiscale dynamic aggregation module (MDAM) containing three spectral aware aggregation modules (SAAMs) is constructed to reconstruct the final HR-HSI by gradually aggregating features of different scales. Extensive experimental results on three commonly used datasets demonstrate that the proposed model achieves better performance compared to state- of-the-art (SOTA) methods.
