The extensive spread of DeepFake images on the internet has emerged as a significant challenge, with applications ranging from harmless entertainment to harmful acts like blackmail, misinformation, and spreading false propaganda. To tackle this issue, this paper introduces a sophisticated DeepFake detection model designed to identify and mitigate the increase of these deceptive images. The model architecture integrates an ensemble approach, combining the strengths of two pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models - MobileNet and Xception - with a novel CNN architecture, the Advanced CNN (ACNN). This rigorous validation process enabled the model to achieve a high accuracy rate of 97.89% in detecting DeepFakes. The successful implementation of this ensemble CNN approach demonstrates its effectiveness in distinguishing between real and fabricated imagery with high precision. This research makes a substantial contribution to the field of digital image forensics, offering a reliable tool for stakeholders across various sectors to identify and counteract the spread of DeepFake images online. © 2024 IEEE.

Leveraging user's preference and social circle for personalized recommendation via matrix factorization with sub-linear convergence rate

Recommender systems aim to filter information effectively and recommend useful sources to match users' requirements. However, the exponential growth of information in recent social networks may cause low prediction accuracy for recommendation systems. This article proposes a unified personalized recommendation architecture referred to as PSRec, which incorporates user preference and social relationship into matrix factorization framework. Specifically, PSRec generates two collections for textual reviews and contextual information respectively, and performs preference learning for each user via the Latent Dirichlet Allocation topic model. Moreover, PSRec exploits the inner relations within the social circle for recommendation, including direct trust relationship and indirect trust relationship. Additionally, it's certificated that PSRec can converge at a sub-linear rate via theoretical analysis. Experimental results over DoubanMovie, CiaoDVDs and Yelp demonstrate the superiority of the proposed PSRec, which can achieve significant improvements and provide much better user experience while compared with other benchmark models. © 2024 - IOS Press. In the field of robotic grasping, grasping tightly stacked objects is a formidable challenge. The presence of non-target objects significantly increases the risk of grasping failure. To solve this problem, the aim is to take action while grasping, reduce clutter, and effectively complete grasping tasks. Based on deep reinforcement learning, the Efficient Learning Grasping(ELG) framework is proposed that integrates pushing actions alongside grasping to efficiently pick up objects from cluttered environments with reduced training time. However, in the process of grasping, the agent is rewarded only when the grasp is successful, so the data collection is extremely inefficient and spends a lot of time on the training of grasping strategy. In our work, two strategies are proposed to improve the training efficiency. First, two mask functions are introduced as prior knowledge to enable the agent to focus on more meaningful regions while ignoring some unnecessary regions, aiming at effective learning. Second, The Pixel Overlap Rate (POR) is introduced to quantify the environment clutter level, and set a new push action reward function based on the POR. The implementation of the above ideas in a simulation environment and transferred the learned models to the real world and verified them in practice. Compared with existing method, our method improves the training efficiency of the initial algorithm while having a higher success rate of grasping. Aiming at the problems of blurred boundaries and discontinuous roads in high-resolution remote sensing images in traditional road extraction methods, a road extraction model for high-resolution remote sensing images with improved deeplabv3+ is proposed. Attention mechanism and D-Inception module are added to the encoder to obtain the global context information, capture the road detail information as well as the correlation information between the surrounding environment and the road, and finally improve the accuracy of semantic segmentation. The experimental results based on the road extraction dataset show that: The road extraction model proposed in this paper is feasible on high-resolution remote sensing images, and the Miou, Mpa, and MF1 of the roads reach 79.87%, 88.79%, and 87.08%, respectively, with high extraction accuracy. A new improvement idea and method are provided to improve the road extraction. © 2024 IEEE.

Adaptive design and implementation of automatic modulation recognition accelerator

Automatic modulation recognition-oriented Deep Neural Networks (ADNNs) have achieved higher recognition accuracy than traditional methods with less labor overhead. However, their high computation complexity usually far exceeds the computation capacity of communication devices built on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) platform. When solving the problem of insufficient resources, the complete operation of FPGA-based accelerator can be achieved by dividing the calculation into several parts and calculating them separately, but this will cause unaccepTable latency. In this backdrop, we develop a new ADNN model, named VT-CNN2+, to promote the recognition accuracy. Then, after stating the resources and latency problems for implementing VT-CNN2+ on the FPGA platform, an adaptive hardware accelerator is put forward. To implement the accelerator, Area folding is introduced to optimize resources consumption. Moreover, Literacy Optimization, Parallelism Optimization, Inter-layer Cascading, Temporary Cache and Data Loading Optimization are adopted to reduce latency. Afterwords, the two components in our accelerator are detailed, i.e., Once-designed module and Re-designed module. Finally, to evaluate the performance and adaptivity of our accelerator, a series of experiments are conducted on two different FPGA platforms, i.e., AX7350 and ZedBoard. Results show that our accelerator can successfully adapt to different FPGA platforms and it can remarkably reduce the processing latency. Moreover, our accelerator’s processing speed of 0.066249s per single data sample with much lower energy consumption is one order of magnitude faster than desktop-level Central Processing Units (CPUs), two orders of magnitude faster than embedded CPUs. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Privacy-preserving data splitting is an effective means of storing parts of data across different servers to safeguard user privacy. Current privacy protection schemes that employ data splitting for privacy protection assume that data owners are already aware of the constraints between attributes, which limits their applicability. To address this challenge, we propose a scheme that utilizes machine learning to segment anonymous data and securely store it. Initially, we employ machine learning algorithms to recursively compute the relationships between attributes. Subsequently, we introduce a greedy algorithm that leverages the relationships derived in the previous step to calculate a data fragmentation approach that ensures privacy safety. Experimental results indicate that our scheme can successfully derive privacy-safe fragmentation methods using various machine learning algorithms. Among the four machine learning algorithms tested, Lasso regression demonstrated the fastest computation speed. © 2023 IEEE.

Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) have indeed shown remarkable promise in the field of computer vision, emerging as a low-energy alternative to traditional Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). However, SNNs also face several challenges: i) Existing SNNs are not purely additive and involve a substantial amount of floating-point computations, which contradicts the original design intention of adapting to neuromorphic chips;ii) The incorrect positioning of convolutional and pooling layers relative to spiking layers leads to reduced accuracy;iii) Leaky Integrate-and-Fire (LIF) neurons have limited capability in representing local information, which is disadvantageous for downstream visual tasks like semantic segmentation. To address the challenges in SNNs, i) we introduce Pure Sparse Self Attention (PSSA) and Dynamic Spiking Membrane Shortcut (DSMS), combining them to tackle the issue of floating-point computations;ii) the Spiking Precise Gradient downsampling (SPG-down) method is proposed for accurate gradient transmission;iii) the Group-LIF neuron concept is introduced to ensure LIF neurons' capability in representing local information both horizontally and vertically, enhancing their applicability in semantic segmentation tasks. Ultimately, these three solutions are integrated into the Powerful Sparse-Spike-Driven Transformer (PSSD-Transformer), effectively handling semantic segmentation tasks and addressing the challenges inherent in SNNs. The experimental results demonstrate that our model outperforms previous results on standard classification datasets and also shows commendable performance on semantic segmentation datasets. Up to this point, PSSD is the first model in the SNN field to perform semantic segmentation on large datasets. The code will be made publicly available after the paper is accepted for publication. © 2024 ACM.

The continuous revolution in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a significant role in the development of key consumer applications, including Industry 5.0, autonomous decision-making, fault diagnosis, etc. In practice, autonomous and intelligent robots and flying vehicles (i.e., drones) are also becoming the integral part of Industry 5.0. These vehicles are attaining significant importance nowadays because of their applications in consumer electronics. However, there may be numerous privacy issues in such an infrastructure. Nevertheless, neural computing-driven security solutions have played a significant role in overcoming the security and privacy issues of AI-driven intelligent flying vehicles. Motivated by these facts, this article presents a neural computing-based access control protocol for AI-driven flying vehicles to prevent all possible security threats. A detailed security evaluation of the devised protocol is done formally using the extensively recognized Real-Or-Random (ROR) oracle model. Similarly, the informal security analysis ensures the resistance of our scheme against various potential attacks under the assumptions of CK and DY adversarial models. Moreover, detailed performance scrutiny of the devised protocol with various existing schemes shows the robustness and supremacy of our scheme in terms of computation, communication overhead, and security attributes. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Audio-driven talking-head synthesis has become a significant focus in the field of virtual human applications. However, existing methodologies face challenges in effectively synchronizing audio and video, especially in maintaining emotional consistency. Additionally, there is a notable inefficiency in leveraging emotional prompts to guide expression generation. To address these limitations, this paper introduces an Emotion Synchronized audio-driven Talking-head synthesis (EST) approach. The EST approach aims to enhance the emotion-agnostic talking-head models by enabling emotion control, and it incorporates a diffusion module to learn diverse latent rep-resentations. Furthermore, EST utilizes null-text embedding to align the latent code with emotional prompts. Additionally, a novel Sync Attention Block (SAB) is developed to broaden the spatial perceptual field, thus preventing the loss of critical information. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the EST method, showcasing state-of-the-art performance across widely-adopted datasets. Moreover, the EST approach exhibits exceptional generalization capabilities, even in scenarios where emotional training videos are unavailable. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep learning(DL) systems exhibit multiple behavioral characteristics such as correctness, robustness, and fairness. Ensuring that these behavioral characteristics function properly is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of DL systems’ outputs. As a specialized form of software, DL systems’ security testing techniques have increasingly become a focus of research in quality assurance. We analyze and organize the testing techniques for DL systems based on an investigation of the current state of the art both domestically and internationally. This paper categorizes existing approaches as component-oriented and attribute-oriented methods, providing a detailed review based on this classification.
