A novel image encryption algorithm based on new one-dimensional chaos and DNA coding

This paper introduces a new one-dimensional chaotic system and a new image encryption algorithm. Firstly, the new chaotic system is analyzed. The bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponent show that the system has strong chaotic characteristics and is suitable for the field of image encryption. The chaotic sequence generated by the system is used in image encryption, scrambled according to its sequence value, and several sequences required for DNA coding operation are generated. The encrypted image is obtained by encoding, decoding, and diffusion operation according to the sequence. The initial values and parameters of system are generated by Hash algorithm based on plain image, so it has strong sensitivity and can effectively resist attacks such as selective plaintext attack. Experimental results show that the algorithm has high security and robustness, and can resist common attacks. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Single-image super-resolution(SISR)typically focuses on restoring various degraded low-resolution(LR)images to a single high-resolution(HR)***,during SISR tasks,it is often challenging for models to simultaneously maintain high quality and rapid sampling while preserving diversity in details and texture *** challenge can lead to issues such as model collapse,lack of rich details and texture features in the reconstructed HR images,and excessive time consumption for model *** address these problems,this paper proposes a Latent Feature-oriented Diffusion Probability Model(LDDPM).First,we designed a conditional encoder capable of effectively encoding LR images,reducing the solution space for model image reconstruction and thereby improving the quality of the reconstructed *** then employed a normalized flow and multimodal adversarial training,learning from complex multimodal distributions,to model the denoising *** so boosts the generative modeling capabilities within a minimal number of sampling *** comparisons of our proposed model with existing SISR methods on mainstream datasets demonstrate that our model reconstructs more realistic HR images and achieves better performance on multiple evaluation metrics,providing a fresh perspective for tackling SISR tasks.

With the continuous development of the Web API ecosystem, mashup-oriented API recommendation gets a lot of attention. Collaborative filtering, deep learning and their combination based methods are recently proposed for API recommendation. However, the recommendation results often perform poorly when data is sparse. Therefore, we propose an API knowledge graph (AKG) and intent network based mashup-oriented API recommendation method, whose main target is to recruit the semantic representation ability to improve the precision of API recommendation. Firstly, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is used to extract API topics, which are important entities in the AKG. Then, the mashup intention is modeled based on the mashup-API interactions. The high-order relationship paths are recursively aggregated into the representation vector of Mashup and API. Finally, the inner product of their representations present the probability of the API recommendation for the mashup. The experimental results on real-world datasets show that our proposed method outperforms several baseline methods in mashup-oriented API recommendations. © 2023 IEEE.

The label is used to mark the object information or classification of the logo, complex label then contains more layout information than ordinary labels. These include Chinese and English characters, pictures, symbols and barcodes. When text detection is performed in complex labels, the detection capability of the algorithm is reduced and is prone to feature overlap resulting in missed and false detection. In this paper, the original YOLOv5 algorithm is optimized by an improved channel attention mechanism to form the new algorithm SA-YOLOv5. The experimental results show that the SAYOLOv5 model can effectively improve detection efficiency and solve the problem of false and missed detections. The average detection accuracy mAP value is 92.24%, which is 0.68 percentage points higher than the original algorithm, proving the effectiveness of the algorithm. © 2023 SPIE.

Ethical Aspects of ChatGPT in software Engineering Research

ChatGPT can improve software engineering (SE) research practices by offering efficient, accessible information analysis, and synthesis based on natural language interactions. However, ChatGPT could bring ethical challenges, encompassing plagiarism, privacy, data security, and the risk of generating biased or potentially detrimental data. This research aims to fill the given gap by elaborating on the key elements: motivators, demotivators, and ethical principles of using ChatGPT in SE research. To achieve this objective, we conducted a literature survey, identified the mentioned elements, and presented their relationships by developing a taxonomy. Furthermore, the identified literature-based elements (motivators, demotivators, and ethical principles) were empirically evaluated by conducting a comprehensive questionnaire-based survey involving SE researchers. In addition, we employed an interpretive structure modeling approach to analyze the relationships between the ethical principles of using ChatGPT in SE research and develop a level-based decision model. We further conducted a cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification analysis to create a cluster-based decision model. These models aim to help SE researchers devise effective strategies for ethically integrating ChatGPT into SE research by following the identified principles by adopting the motivators and addressing the demotivators. The findings of this study will establish a benchmark for incorporating ChatGPT services in SE research with an emphasis on ethical considerations. © 2020 IEEE.

During software evolution, it is advocated that test code should co-evolve with production code. In real development scenarios, test updating may lag behind production code changing, which may cause compilation failure or bring other troubles. Existing techniques based on pre-trained language models can be directly adopted to repair obsolete tests caused by such unsynchronized code changes, especially syntactic-related ones. However, the lack of task-oriented contextual information affects the repair accuracy on large-scale projects. Starting from an obsolete test, the key challenging task is precisely identifying and constructing Test-Repair-Oriented Contexts (TROCtxs) from the whole repository within a limited token *** this paper, we propose Synter (SYNtactic-breaking- changes-induced TEst Repair), a novel approach based on LLMs to automatically repair obsolete test cases via precise and concise TROCtxs construction. Inspired by developers' programming practices, we design three types of TROCtx: class context, usage context, and environment context. Given an obsolete test case to repair, Synter firstly collects the related code information for each type of TROCtx through static analysis techniques automatically. Then, it generates reranking queries to identify the most relevant TROCtxs, which will be taken as the repair-required key contexts and be input to the large language model for the final test *** evaluate the effectiveness of Synter, we construct a benchmark dataset that contains a set of obsolete tests caused by syntactic breaking changes. The experimental results show that Synter outperforms baseline approaches both on textual- and intent-matching metrics. With the augmentation of constructed TROCtxs, hallucinations are reduced by 57.1%. © 2024 IEEE.

Integrating single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) data and single-cell ATAC-seq (scATAC-seq) data provides a more comprehensive view of cellular heterogeneity. However, the high sparsity in scATAC-seq data presents significant challenges for cell type identification, while scRNA-seq offers richer gene expression information for more accurate annotation. We propose scEDI, a method that integrates scRNA-seq and scATAC- seq data using autoencoders and text convolutional networks. In scEDI, both data types are processed through an autoencoder to create a shared low-dimensional space, followed by a text convolutional network for label transfer. We evaluated scEDI against three state-of-the-art methods on datasets from the adult mouse cerebral cortex and human peripheral blood monocytes. Experimental results demonstrate that scEDI improves label transfer accuracy, particularly in small datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

ICCG:low-cost and efficient consistency with adaptive synchronization for metadata replication

The rapid growth in the storage scale of wide-area distributed file systems (DFS) calls for fast and scalable metadata management. Metadata replication is the widely used technique for improving the performance and scalability of metadata management. Because of the POSIX requirement of file systems, many existing metadata management techniques utilize a costly design for the sake of metadata consistency, leading to unacceptable performance overhead. We propose a new metadata consistency maintenance method (ICCG), which includes an incremental consistency guaranteed directory tree synchronization (ICGDT) and a causal consistency guaranteed replica index synchronization (CCGRI), to ensure system performance without sacrificing metadata consistency. ICGDT uses a flexible consistency scheme based on the state of files and directories maintained through the conflict state tree to provide an incremental consistency for metadata, which satisfies both metadata consistency and performance requirements. CCGRI ensures low latency and consistent access to data by establishing a causal consistency for replica indexes through multi-version extent trees and logical time. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our methods. Compared with the strong consistency policies widely used in modern DFSes, our methods significantly improve the system performance. For example, in file creation, ICCG can improve the performance of directory tree operations by at least 36.4 times.

Auto-scaling is crucial for achieving elasticity in cloud databases as well as other cloud systems. Predictive auto-scaling, which leverages forecasting techniques to adjust resources based on predicted workload, has been widely adopted. However, the inherent inaccuracy of forecasting presents a significant challenge, potentially causing resource under-provisioning. To address this challenge, we propose robust predictive auto-scaling that considers the uncertainty in forecasts. Unlike previous predictive approaches that rely on single-valued forecasts, we leverage probabilistic forecasting techniques to generate quan-tile forecasts, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the potential future workloads. By formulating the auto-scaling problem as a robust optimization problem, we enable the implementation of auto-scaling strategies with customizable levels of robustness, which can be determined by considering various quantile levels of forecasts. Moreover, we enhance the adaptability of our strategy by incorporating different quantile levels through-out the entire decision horizon, allowing for dynamic adjustments in the conservatism of our auto-scaling decisions. This enables us to strike a balance between resource efficiency and system robustness. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in achieving robust auto-scaling in cloud databases, while maintaining reasonable resource efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Profit Maximization of Delay-Sensitive, Differential Accuracy Inference Services in Mobile Edge Computing

The integration of Artificial Itelligence (AI) and edge computing has sparked significant interest in edge inference services. In this paper, we consider delay-sensitive, differential accuracy inference services in a Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) network while meeting user stringent delay and accuracy requirements. We formulate two novel profit maximization problems under static and dynamic settings of service request arrivals, with the aim of maximizing the accumulative profit of admitted requests. We assign differential accuracy service requests to the corresponding resolution instances of their requested service models, assuming that each resolution instance can serve up to L≥ 1 the same type of service requests. Since the profit maximization problem is NP-hard, we first formulate an Integer Linear Program (ILP) solution if the problem size is small or medium;otherwise, we devise a constant randomized algorithm with high probability. Then, we consider dynamic service request admissions without the knowledge of future request arrivals for a given finite time horizon, for which we develop a simple yet effective prediction mechanism to accurately predict the number of different resolution instances of each model needed, and pre-deploy the predicted number of resolution instances into cloudlets to reduce instantiating delays. We then devise an online algorithm with a provable competitive ratio for the dynamic profit maximization problem by leveraging the primal-dual dynamic updating technique. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms by simulations. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms are promising. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
