The open array chip is an incredibly valuable tool for analyzing single molecule levels. Its efficiency, speed, compatibility, and precision make it an essential part of this process. However, efficient sample addition has become a significant challenge in the development of open array chips due to the coupling of the solid-liquid interface and the need for high-precision control. To address this challenge, we have developed an integrated adding sample device using technology of generates and detects controllable droplets array based on an open array chip with a biomimetic structure. This device combines a microfluidic chip, image detection, and smear speed regulation. We have studied the factors that affect the efficiency of sample loading, such as the number, speed and fluctuation of smears, and microwell size. The experiments have shown that the open array chip with the microwell’s diameter of 350 µm can generate arrays of ~470/cm2 ~8 nL droplets, significantly reducing controlled speed fluctuation errors by7.24% and volume fluctuation errors by 24% compared to traditional manual ways. The device has also displayed excellent performance on chips with microwell diameters of 120, 350, 700, and 1300 µm, respectively, with a notable first-time success rate of up to 91% on chips with microwell diameters of 120 µm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

Regular monitoring of the maintenance manhole system is imperative to uphold the city's health and cleanliness standards. Our study offers an intelligent manhole that monitors the manhole's condition, water level, and gases. We tested the status, gas, and water levels of our revolutionary, innovative manhole in several places. Our system's Blink app position tracking of our smart manhole is critical. This capability improves monitoring efficiency and speeds up issue resolution. Our work revolutionizes municipal utility maintenance and safety by optimizing manhole performance. Integrating a Node MCU, GPS module, gas sensor, ultrasonic sensor, and Android Blynk software creates a complete real-time monitoring and data-collecting system. Combining these technologies, our Manhole Monitoring system improves safety and streamlines maintenance, making municipal infrastructure more robust and efficient. This paper highlights the promising features of IoT and shows how it may be used to improve the smart manhole. In the future, this creative method may result in a more durable and better intelligent city. © 2024 IEEE.

Competitive and Cooperative-Based Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm for Green Distributed Heterogeneous Flow Shop Scheduling

This work aims to resolve the distributed heterogeneous permutation flow shop scheduling problem(DHPFSP)with minimizing makespan and total energy consumption(TEC).To solve this NP-hard problem,this work proposed a competitive and cooperative-based strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm(CCSPEA)which contains the following features:1)An initialization based on three heuristic rules is developed to generate a population with great diversity and convergence.2)A comprehensive metric combining convergence and diversity metrics is used to better represent the heuristic information of a solution.3)A competitive selection is designed which divides the population into a winner and a loser swarms based on the comprehensive metric.4)A cooperative evolutionary schema is proposed for winner and loser swarms to accelerate the convergence of global search.5)Five local search strategies based on problem knowledge are designed to improve convergence.6)Aproblem-based energy-saving strategy is presented to reduce ***,to evaluate the performance of CCSPEA,it is compared to four state-of-art and run on 22 instances based on the Taillard *** numerical experiment results demonstrate that 1)the proposed comprehensive metric can efficiently represent the heuristic information of each solution to help the later step divide the population.2)The global search based on the competitive and cooperative schema can accelerate loser solutions convergence and further improve the winner’s exploration.3)The problembased initialization,local search,and energy-saving strategies can efficiently reduce the makespan and TEC.4)The proposed CCSPEA is superior to the state-of-art for solving DHPFSP.

International efforts to avoid dangerous climate change have historically focused on reducing energy-related CO2emissions from countries with either the largest economies（*** EU and the USA）and/or the largest populations（*** and India）.However,in recent years,emissions have surged among a different and much less-examined group of countries,raising concerns that a next generation of high-emitting economies will obviate current mitigation ***,we analyse the trends and drivers of emissions in each of the 59 countries where emissions in 2010-2018 grew faster than the global average（excluding China and India）,project their emissions under a range of longer-term energy scenarios and estimate the costs of decarbonization *** emissions from these 'emerging emitters' reach as much as 7.5 GtCO2/year in the baseline 2.5° scenari—substantially greater than the emissions from these regions in previously published scenarios that would limit warming to 1.5℃ or even 2℃.Such unanticipated emissions would in turn require non-emitting energy deployment from all sectors within these emerging emitters,and faster and deeper reductions in emissions from other countries to meet international climate ***,the annual costs of keeping emissions at the low level are in many cases 0.2%-4.1% of countries' gross domestic production,pointing to potential trade-offs with poverty-reduction goals and/or the need for economic support and low-carbon technology transfer from historically high-emitting *** results thus highlight the critical importance of ramping up mitigation efforts in countries that to this point have been largely ignored.

Learning to see speckle in the weak laser field through multimode fiber

Multimode fibers (MMFs) have great potential for endoscopic imaging due to the high number of modes and a small core diameter. Deep learning based on neural networks has received increasing attention in the field of scattering image reconstruction. However， most studies focus on designing complex network architectures to improve reconstruction， but these network models struggle to reconstruct images in a weak laser field. In the paper， a lightweight generative adversarial network model combined with a histogram specification algorithm is designed to reconstruct speckles in the weak laser field through MMF. Experimental results show that the reconstruction results of our algorithm have better metrics. Moreover， the model demonstrates excellent cross-domain generalization ability with regards to the Fashion-MNIST dataset. It is worth mentioning that we found that the speckles after inactivation still retain the ability to be reconstructed， which enhances the robustness of the model

Brain tumors are a major source of illness and mortality globally, with about 11,700 persons diagnosed with one each year. Brain tumor diagnosis and categorization are critical for proper treatment planning, which can increase patients' life expectancy. Due to the intricacy of brain tumors and their attributes, the traditional approach of manual assessment of brain MRI images might be error-prone. Automated classification approaches based on Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been shown to be more accurate than manual categorization. Deep Learning techniques including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), and Transfer Learning (TL) have shown promising results for the automatic categorization of brain MRI images in this context. These automated procedures can save time and lessen the possibility of misdiagnosis, but they should always be used in tandem with clinical experience. The suggested method has the potential to significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of brain tumor identification and categorization for doctors and radiologists globally. © 2023 IEEE.

Effective and Imperceptible Adversarial Textual Attack Via Multi-objectivization

The field of adversarial textual attack has significantly grown over the past few years, where the commonly considered objective is to craft adversarial examples (AEs) that can successfully fool the target model. However, the imperceptibility of attacks, which is also essential for practical attackers, is often left out by previous studies. In consequence, the crafted AEs tend to have obvious structural and semantic differences from the original human-written text, making them easily perceptible. In this work, we advocate leveraging multi-objectivization to address such an issue. Specifically, we reformulate the problem of crafting AEs as a multi-objective optimization problem, where the attack imperceptibility is considered as an auxiliary objective. Then, we propose a simple yet effective evolutionary algorithm, dubbed HydraText, to solve this problem. HydraText can be effectively applied to both score-based and decision-based attack settings. Exhaustive experiments involving 44,237 instances demonstrate that HydraText consistently achieves competitive attack success rates and better attack imperceptibility than the recently proposed attack approaches. A human evaluation study also shows that the AEs crafted by HydraText are more indistinguishable from human-written text. Finally, these AEs exhibit good transferability and can bring notable robustness improvement to the target model by adversarial training. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

In multi-cell downlink vehicular visible light communication (VLC) systems, vehicles at a cell edge experience lower achievable data rates compared with those at a cell center, primarily due to the weaker channel gain and inter-cell interference, leading to unfairness among vehicles. In this paper, a cooperative transmission approach is proposed for a vehicular VLC system with optical intelligent reflecting surface (OIRS) to enhance the max-min fairness of the system by leveraging the additional OIRS-reflected channels and the interference-mitigating capabilities of cooperative transmission. To this end, the system model is established, followed by the formulation of a resource allocation problem aiming at enhancing max-min fairness, in which the minimum achievable data rate among vehicles is optimized. Then, an effective resource algorithm is proposed, transforming the original problem into an equivalent form and subsequently decomposing it into three subproblems, focusing on OIRS assignment, subchannel allocation, and power adjustment, respectively. By employing a block coordinate descent algorithm, the three subproblems are solved iteratively until convergence. In addition, simulation results confirm the improvement in max-min fairness brought by OIRS and the proposed cooperative transmission approach. Moreover, compared with various baselines, the proposed resource allocation algorithm significantly enhances in the max-min fairness for the vehicular VLC system, crucial for this application. © 2014 IEEE.

Due to the scarcity of labeled faulty data in industrial practice, fault diagnosis models often face challenges related to overfitting and limited accuracy. This article introduces a novel solution to tackle the problem - a fault diagnosis method that leverages a combination of a semi-supervised prototype network and contrastive learning. Firstly, a limited number of labeled samples is employed to construct pairs of positive and negative samples. And the training method of contrastive learning is used to provide appropriate initial parameters for the autoencoder. Secondly, the autoencoder is employed as a feature mapping function within the prototype network and obtains the prototype using a limited number of labeled samples. Finally, a prototype refinement method fine-tunes the prototype through unlabeled data, reducing the impact of anomalous data and obtaining a more stable and accurate prototype. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated using gearbox data as a validation dataset. Through comparative analysis with other methods, the results demonstrate that the proposed approach achieves superior diagnostic accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
