Robust scheduling is an effective way to solve job-shop scheduling problem (JSP) under a dynamic and stochastic environment with uncertainties, which may lead to numerous schedule disruptions. Maintaining the optimization obtained, the robust schedule is more stable in execution. The vast majority of the researches on robust scheduling concentrate on the development of the robustness and stabilization with an optimization target that minimizes makespan. However, other optimization targets are needed in reality, and in this paper, we introduce another optimization target that maximizes the payload of the machine, which can reflect the capacity of machine. This work applies a two-step way to achieve a robust schedule. A baseline schedule in the deterministic environment is generated first, which pursues standard optimization criterions, and then the temporal buffers are inserted into the baseline schedule which make the schedule absorb some level of unexpected disruption without rescheduling. According to the payload of each machine which should be close to the maximum at any time in execution, we can get each size of the temporal buffers inserted into the different operations. An extensive experiment is used to show the relative performance of the proposed robust schedule. It is shown that the schedule is robust and stable under the stochastic disturbance coupling with minimal makespan tardiness and symmetry payload.

In this study, the effects of a dynamic strain in the cytotoxicity and mortality of the PC12 cell line were evaluated by using impact experiment with huge acceleration. In order to consider the influence of axonal damage on nerve cells, 2 types of nerve cells were used for the impact experiments, i.e. with and without axons. The cytotoxicity and mortality of cells were evaluated by the input acceleration, strain and strain rate and the strain rate seemed to be the most appropriate to evaluate the cytotoxicity and mortality of cells. Cells with axons showed higher cytotoxicity and mortality than cells without axons, when the strain rate was larger than 13.11 (1/s). Damage to axons was confirmed by terminal swellings and beadings of the axons. These data indicated that the presence of axons increased the cytotoxicity and mortality of cells. In this paper, an optimized fractional order conditional integrator (OFOCI) is proposed. The key feature of this OFOCI is that, the fractional order alpha and the parameter k for the "hold" value in the course of integration can be tuned following the analytical optimality design specifications, to achieve the optimized performance not achievable using integer order conditional integrators. The proposed optimality specifications are given to satisfy the desired phase delay, and minimize the preferred magnitude ratio, which can be calculated from the high order harmonic magnitudes divided by the magnitude of the fundamental wave. The numerical solution of calculating the optimized parameters alpha and k of the OFOCI is introduced. The phase delays and magnitude ratios of four designed OFOCIs are compared with the integer order conditional integrators. Simulation results with the FFT spectra are also presented to validate the theoretical analysis.

Separation of identifier and locator provides good conditions of routing scalability and mobility for Internet routing and lP addressing. Based on the idea of identifier and locator separation, in this paper we introduce the access identifier (AID) and the routing locator (RLOC), design a network locality-aware distributed hash table (NLADHT), then present an identifier mapping information storage algorithm with network locality-aware capability (N3Chord). Simulation performance shows that, the identifiers of distributed network storage nodes assigned by NLA-DHT with good query performance in network topology locality consistency, and the query efficiency and network fault handling capability of N3-Chord is much superior to Chord FingerPNS and ChordFinger.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) guided robotic interventions have been introduced in order to advance prostate cancer detection and treatment. To overcome problems of such robotic interventions, we have been developing a pneumatically actuated MRI-compatible modular robotic system for MRI-guided transperineal prostate intervention and its interventional procedure. For system evaluation, a series of experiments have been conducted and this paper reports a needle insertion experiment using prostate phantom and patient mockup trials. The needle insertion experiment resulted in noticeable consistent error in one direction, which we will investigate further. Nonetheless, patient mockup experiences suggest that the modular robotic system and its interventional procedure are well integrated and implemented in clinical environment.

The project of E-Simulator is under way at Hyogo Earthquake engineering Research Center (E-Defense) of National Research Institute of Earth science and Disaster Prevention (NIED), Japan, which facilitates the world's largest shaking table. The E-Simulator uses the parallel finite element (FE) analysis software package called ADVENTYRECluster (ADVC) as a platform. In this study, we report the results of high-precision FE-analysis for simulation of collapse behavior of the 4-story steel building frame that is the specimen of the full-scale total collapse shaking-table test conducted in September 2007 at E-Defense. It is shown that elastoplastic dynamic responses can be estimated with good accuracy using a high-precision FE-analysis without resort to macro models such as plastic hinge and composite beam effect.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) guided prostate biopsy and brachytherapy has been introduced in order to enhance the cancer detection and treatment. For the accurate needle positioning, a number of robotic assistants have been developed. However, problems exist due to the strong magnetic field and limited workspace. Pneumatically actuated robots have shown the minimum distraction in the environment but the confined workspace limits optimal robot design and thus controllability is often poor. To overcome the problem, a simple external damping mechanism using timing belts was sought and a 1-DOF mechanism test result indicated sufficient positioning accuracy. Based on the damping mechanism and modular system design approach, a new workspace-optimized 4-DOF parallel robot was developed for the MRI-guided prostate biopsy and brachytherapy. A preliminary evaluation of the robot was conducted using previously developed pneumatic controller and satisfying results were obtained.

An Algorithm for Role Mapping Across Multi-domains Employing RBAC

The problem of access control across multiple security domains in data sharing environment is addressed and a rule-based algorithm for role mapping across multi-domains is presented. The algorithm resolves efficiently the conflicts of cyclic inheritance and separation of duties, and the problem of regression inheritance. The algorithm takes the “Least privilege theorem” into account and prohibits accesses from illegal domains. Further more, the algorithm makes the establishment of role mapping across multi-domains more efficiently by preserving historical information of role mapping paths established successfully before, and satisfies preferably the access control requirement across dynamic multi-domains in data sharing environment. Evaluation by access instances shows the efficiency of our algorithm.

DRAM row buffer conflicts can increase memory access latency significantly. This paper presents a new pageallocation-based optimization that works seamlessly together with some existing hardware and software optimizations to eliminate significantly more row buffer conflicts. Validation in simulation using a set of selected scientific and engineering benchmarks against a few representative memory controller optimizations shows that our method can reduce row buffer miss rates by up to 76% （with an average of 37.4%）. This reduction in row buffer miss rates will be translated into performance speedups by up to 15% （with an average of 5%）.

Collapse and Revival of an Atomic Beam Interacting with a Coherent State Light Field

We report on the phenomena of the periodic spontaneous collapse and revival in the dynamics of an atomic beam interacting with a single-mode and coherent-state light field. Conventional collapse and revival by Eberly et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 44（1980）1323 ] are presented in the case of the evolution with time of the population inversion. Here, we study the evolution with coupling strength of population inversion. We define the collapse and revival coupling strengths as characteristic parameters to describe the above collapse and revival. Furthermore, we present the analytic formulas for the population inversion, the collapse and revival coupling strengths.
