This article introduces a solitary adjustable parameter-based filled function technique tailored for constrained global optimization. The devised filled function strives to encapsulate the idiosyncrasies inherent in the optimization quandary, and the single parameter can be easily tuned during the optimization process. The paper explores the analytical characters of the filled function and presents an algorithm based on the filled function approach. Short-form video streaming has seen explosive growth in recent years. Typically, the short video apps (e.g., TikTok) are installed on mobile devices, with the video content delivered over wireless networks. Our measurement study shows that almost all the state-of-the-art adaptive bitrate (ABR) algorithms for short video streaming fall short of providing satisfactory Quality-of-Experience (QoE). This is due to their reliance on bandwidth-sensitive adaptation logic with over-discretized encoding bitrate levels, which hampers their ability to manage significant wireless bandwidth fluctuations. To tackle this problem, we propose DeepReal, a fine-grained ABR approach for short videos, the core of which is a novel clustering-augmented continuous control learning algorithm. On the one hand, the clustering offers more expertise for the ABR logic training. On the other hand, the continuous-valued action domain enables the trained ABR logic to support any number of discrete bitrate levels. As a result, DeepReal’s bitrate decision is able to effectively adapt to the substantial network dynamics. Large-scale evaluations show that DeepReal improves QoE by 23.5% to 33.3% while maintaining strong spatial and temporal robustness. It offers a tailored and innovative solution for current short-form video services. © 2024 IEEE.

Fusion Method of Median Estimate and Huber M Estimate on Dynamic Performance Variation of Ball of Rolling Bearing

Performance degradation of rolling bearing belongs to poor information on unknown distribution test data. It has an important impact for the reliability and safety of the running of mechanical equipment. The paper provides a method to assess dynamic performance variation of rolling bearing, which belongs to the field of performance degradation. Based on robustness theory and fusion theory, fusion method of median estimate and the Huber M estimate is proposed to analyze robust characteristics of the test data of rolling bearing. Attaining to intrinsic interval, variation rate, median and mean on robust data constructs assessment system of dynamic performance variation of rolling bearing on the basis of the method. For the analysis of vibration data of rolling bearings due to effect of different groove raceway damaging diameter of inner ring, results show the change trend of variation rate, median and mean on robust data of vibration is in agreement with change of groove raceway damaging diameter of inner ring. This shows that variation rate, median and mean on robust data of vibration can quantitative characterize dynamic performance degradation of groove raceway damaging diameter of inner ring on rolling bearing. Moreover, variation rate is 89%, in agreement with 0.7112mm on attaining to 89% diameter of failure condition. This shows that variation rate can effectively assess running condition of rolling bearings. This method does not require distribution types and significance level of test data. It provides a valuable solution for problems of test data of the unknown distribution and significance level. At the same time the method solves determination of boundary value of Huber M estimate in modern statistics. The convergence of digital technology with eco-design offers an integrative approach, merging environmental sustainability with technological innovation in design. In the realm of eco-design, there is a growing emphasis on the application of digital technology. However, the focal areas and trends of eco-design studies utilizing digital technology remain underexplored. This leads to a deficiency in our deep understanding and prediction of the evolution and transformation of this domain. To comprehend the progression in this domain, we curated and scrutinized a dataset of 1,359 papers related to digital technology and eco-design presented at the CHI conference over the past five years. Through keywords analysis from the past half-decade, we pinpointed prevailing research areas in eco-design utilizing digital technology, such as virtual reality, sustainability, health, and human-computer interaction. We also gathered essential information about the papers for descriptive statistical analysis, including the count, authors' nationalities and gender distribution, and the scale of the authorship teams. Coupled by the visual insights from keyword clouds, we discerned trends in eco-design research in the backdrop of digital technology. Our findings underscore that the eco-design domain, when integrated with digital technology, persistently captivates academic interest, with comparatively smaller teams often embarking on projects in this research sphere. Predominantly, researchers from the United States and male participants lead these endeavors. Moreover, there's an escalating emphasis on people-centered design, striving to engineer solutions that harmonize environmental interactions with health promotions. This study's outcomes furnish insights for a more profound exploration in the realm of digital technology and eco-design, offering recommendations to further propel sustainable progress and innovative design. © 2024 The Authors.

Although genetic sequencing technology has made great progress, read errors and large repetitive regions still occur during the genome assembly process. Many current assembly methods typically yield only sets of contigs whose relative positions and orientations along the sequenced genome are unknown. In order to further obtain its correct and complete sequence, this paper proposes a new sequence assembly method based on a single reference genome of similar species: BRS. For a specific species, assuming that its own reference genome is unknown, due to the high genetic similarity between similar species. the reference genome of similar species is used as an aid and the alignment tool is used to compare the contig collection and the reference genome of similar species. We analyze the alignment information and determine the direction and position of the contigs according to the final alignment result and complete the sequence assembly of the gene. The BRS method is compared with two other common methods: RaGOO and Ragout2 on two bacterial datasets. The experimental results show that this method can indeed achieve good results. © 2022 IEEE.

The application of speech recognition technology in the field of power dispatching can improve the collaborative efficiency of power grids at all levels and reduce the work intensity of dispatchers, which is one of the indispensable key technologies in the process of intelligent development of power grids. However, the research of speech recognition technology in the field of power dispatching is still relatively simple, and the scheduling process has high requirements for the accuracy of speech recognition system, so this paper studies the application of speech recognition technology in the field of power dispatching. The idea of transfer learning is proposed to apply the MSRC-Transformer model to power dispatching field, and the optimal fine-tuning scheme of transfer learning network is selected through comparative experiments. Considering that depth is a key factor to improve network performance, deep convolutional networks are chosen to obtain advanced speech features. At the same time, in order to avoid the phenomenon of gradient disappearance and network degradation in deep networks, the introduction of residual units to ensure that the increase of network depth has a positive effect on the improvement of model recognition performance. In addition, a multi-scale feature fusion mechanism is proposed to improve the ability of the model to express speech features, aiming at the problem that the convolution kernel of a single size is easy to cause the convolution window boundary information to be missed. In order to solve the problem of parameter complexity caused by large-size convolution kernel in multi-scale feature fusion mechanism, hollow convolution is introduced to effectively reduce the number of parameters in the model while ensuring the receptive field. The experimental results show that the accuracy of this model for power dispatching command voice data set recognition is more than 90%, which verifies the feasibility of the application of MSRC-Transform

Intention adoption represents a migration from an imperative to a declarative paradigm, which is expected to significantly improve the user experience in blockchain. While the development of account abstraction has expanded the range of possibilities for intent expression, the architecture for intent-centric collaboration and coordination remains underdeveloped. Existing works depend on trusted centralized entities and employ broadcasts to the network to disseminate user intent, risking single points of failure and privacy leakage. In addition, no standard intent architecture has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a novel decentralized privacy-preserving optimizer architecture for executing intents on the EVM blockchain. We first propose standard intent structures and zero-knowledge intent structures. Our architecture allows users to transform raw intent structures into zero-knowledge intent structures and send them to a set of trusted optimizers. The optimizers can optimize and execute the intents without revealing the content of the intents. We use zero-knowledge proof and public-key encryption to ensure the privacy and correctness of the intents, and smart contracts to ensure the security and verifiability of the execution. We also design a quantization function to evaluate and compare solutions from different optimizers. We analyze the security and performance of our architecture and show that it can achieve privacy, efficiency, and scalability of intent execution on the EVM blockchain. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s). Dynamic changes in dissolved organic matter during transport of landfill leachate in porous medium

The dynamic changes in dissolved organic matter (DOM) during the transport of landfill leachate (LL) in porous medium should be explored, considering the high levels of DOM in the LL of municipal solid waste. Column experiments were carried out at 25 °C at a Darcy’s flux of 0.29 cm/h for 2722 h to compare the transport of Cl−, ultraviolet absorbance at 254 nm (UV254), chemical oxygen demand (COD), and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in the simulated porous medium by using the CXTFIT2.1 code. Results showed that the convection–dispersion equation (CDE) could describe Cl− transport well. The high levels of λ and D could be highly correlated with the physicochemical properties of the porous medium. The transport of the studied DOM with evident aromatic character could be described appropriately by the CDE model with the first-order reaction assumption, considering the similar variation trends of UV254, COD, and DOC in the effluent during experiments. Specifically, the values of retardation factor (R) were in the following order: DOC > UV254 > COD, whereas the low values of the first-order decay coefficient (k1) for DOC and COD were still higher than that for UV254. High contents of humic-like substances in the DOM with complex toxic components resulted in the natural low removal efficiencies of COD, DOC, and UV254 (≤ 23%), which could be confirmed by the variations of fluorescence index (FI) and humification index (HIX) in the effluent. The results should be helpful in evaluating the environmental risk induced by the LL leakage in a landfill site. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.
