In process CPS systems, highly accurate modeling of the production system is essential for optimal control, fault diagnosis, and flexible manufacturing. Traditional data-driven modeling of industrial processes focuses on predicting future trends based on variable periodicity and trends, often neglecting the impact of control variables. This paper proposes a new approach to improve CPS accuracy, particularly for systems heavily influenced by controlled variables. Firstly, CPS modeling is redefined as a time series imputation problem, introducing exogenous variables via a sequence modeling algorithm based on a state space model to enhance forecasting accuracy. Secondly, sequence inputs are encoded in patches, improving the model's ability to process local sequence information. The proposed method is evaluated on a real deep cone thickener underflow concentration forecasting task and compared with state-of-The-Art time series forecasting methods, demonstrating superior performance. This study not only provides a more accurate model for CPS but also offers a framework for integrating control variables into predictive modeling. © 2024 IEEE.

Using fMRI-Based Multi-Scale Perception Models to Explore Cognitive Load and Attention Allocation in Education

The study of cognitive load and attention allocation has gained prominence in educational research due to its critical role in optimizing teaching strategies. Cognitive load refers to the mental effort required to process information, while attention allocation describes how learners distribute their cognitive resources across tasks. Traditional methods, such as Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) and behavioral measures (e.g., reaction times, eye-tracking), provide valuable insights but fall short in capturing real-time neural mechanisms. These approaches are limited by their reliance on single-task contexts and their inability to probe dynamic, multi-scale brain processes during learning. To address these gaps, we propose a novel framework integrating fMRI-based multi-scale perception models with behavioral and physiological data. This method allows for real-time analysis of brain activity, providing a granular understanding of how cognitive load and attention are distributed across complex learning tasks. Our approach leverages neural data from key brain regions involved in memory and attention, enabling the development of adaptive, personalized educational tools. Technically, our method employs a hybrid CNN-ViT architecture with dynamic uncertainty calibration, enabling high-resolution multimodal fusion across EEG and fMRI signals. Experimental results show that our model achieves up to 91.83% accuracy on the ADHD-200 dataset, significantly outperforming state-of-the-art baselines. Experimental results demonstrate that our method significantly improves the understanding of neural mechanisms underlying learning. By correlating cognitive load with brain oscillations (e.g., theta, alpha bands), we identify biomarkers that predict learning efficiency and attention shifts. This research contributes to the design of adaptive learning systems, paving the way for personalized, scalable educational solutions that align with neural capacities. © 2013 IEEE.

To address the matching problem caused by the salience differences in spatial features, spectrum and contrast between heterologous images, a heterologous image matching method based on salience region using Q-test and kernel density estimation is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the center pixel point of each sub-region in the image is detected for salience difference with other points in its neighborhood by using the Q-test method. The detected points are defined as Q-points. Secondly, the point with the largest kernel density in all Q-points is calculated by using kernel density estimation function and defined as the M-point. Then, the region size is defined according to the coordinates of M-point, and the salience region is detected. Finally, to comprehensively evaluate the performance of the proposed method, five common types of heterologous images are selected as data sources, including point cloud depth maps, infrared images, electronic navigational maps, synthetic aperture radar images, and night-time light images. Based on the salience regions, comparative experiments are carried out using histogram of absolute phase consistency gradients (HAPCG) and histogram of the orientation of the weighted phase descriptor (HOWP). The results show that the matching performance of the proposed method is better than that of the original algorithm without salience region, especially on the type of electronic navigational map. © 2024 SPIE.

Urban travel data typically encompass various temporal and spatial scales and features. Nonetheless, existing traffic travel feature analysis often focuses on a single spatial scale, which may overlook crucial information and hinder features at different scales. Consequently, this could reduce the accuracy of travel pattern recognition. To solve this problem, we introduce a multi-scale fusion transformation algorithm. In our approach, we first establish a multi-level taxi travel data grid system. Then, we apply the I-Clique clustering algorithm to perform grid clustering at each level of the system to identify taxi travel feature regions of different scales. Subsequently, a multi-scale fusion pyramid model is constructed utilizing the acquired travel feature regions at various scales. Finally, we determine the transformation relationships between scales in the pyramid model, enabling the identification of travel feature areas across both known and unknown scales. This approach facilitates the recognition of travel features within cities at any scale. Experimental results demonstrate that the multi-scale fusion transformation algorithm enhances our understanding of spatial aggregation patterns and the hierarchical structure of geographical entities, offering a novel approach for multi-scale urban traffic analysis. © 2024 SPIE. Longtime behaviors of a reducible cooperative system with nonlocal diffusions and free boundaries

This paper aims at understanding the longtime behaviors of a reducible cooperative system with nonlocal diffusions and different free boundaries, describing the interactions of two mutually beneficial species. Compared with the irreducible and monostable cooperative system, the system we care about here has many nonnegative steady states, leading to much different and rich longtime behaviors. Moreover, since the possible nonnegative steady states on half space are non-constant, we need to employ more detailed analysis to understand the corresponding steady state problems which in turn helps us to derive a complete classification for the longtime behaviors of our problem. The spreading speeds of free boundaries and more accurate limits of (u, v) as t → ∞ are also discussed, and accelerated spreading can happen if some threshold conditions are violated by kernel functions. The eyes are the windows to the soul and are crucial for studying human behavior. Therefore, gaze estimation has attracted much attention in the field of computer vision. In recent years, convolutional neural networks have driven significant progress in gaze estimation research. Despite the remarkable achievements of gaze technology based on full-face images, the inability to obtain full-face images in specific scenarios makes research based on eye images particularly important. This paper proposes a three-dimensional gaze estimation model that takes binocular images as input, using VGG16 as the backbone network for feature extraction. To enhance the feature extraction capability, we have embedded channel attention and spatial attention mechanisms. Meanwhile, to improve the stability of gaze estimation, we classify real gaze angles. First, we perform a preliminary screening of gaze direction through a classification task, and then perform linear regression with the true angle. Finally, we optimize gaze features using binocular vision differences to finetune the gaze estimator. Experiments have shown that our method performs well on three public datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Biological hydrogen production and key metabolic pathways in dark fermentation of weathered coal

Weathered coal has low calorific value, single utilization mode and environmental pollution. In order to broaden the utilization way of weathered coal, realize resource utilization and environmental protection, dark fermentation of weathered coal was carried out to produce biological hydrogen. Naturally weathered coals from three mining areas of Jincheng and Taiyuan in Shanxi Province and Wuhai in Inner Mongolia were selected, and the coal seam mine water was used as the source of bacteria. The feasibility of biological hydrogen production from weathered coal and the key metabolites and pathways were revealed by means of biological hydrogen production test, GC-MS, three-dimensional fluorescence and metagenomics. The results show that weathered coal in different mining areas can be converted into bio-hydrogen, and the hydrogen production of Wuhai weathered coal is the largest (10.26 mL/g), which is much higher than that of Jincheng weathered coal (5.22 mL/g). The hydrogen production system of weathered coal is in an acidic environment, and pH and COD mass concentration have certain regular changes. In the process of hydrogen production from weathered coal, the liquid organic matter is mainly composed of acids (acetic acid, propionic acid, valeric acid and butyric acid) and alcohols (2,3-butanediol, sugar alcohol and (S)-1,2-propanediol). The soluble organic matter is mainly composed of humic acid and tryptophan protein organic matter, and with the progress of fermentation, a variety of organic matter is consumed and utilized. In the process of hydrogen production from weathered coal, microorganisms are mainly dominated by Pseudomonadota and Citrobacter, and hydrogen is mainly produced by decomposing and utilizing organic acids (acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, lactic acid).
