Misclassification minimization is an important and interesting topic in classification problem. Obviously, exploring the solution for this topic will benefit to many real life problems, such as credit card clients classification. This paper focuses on misclassification minimization based on multiple criteria linear programming (MCLP), proposing two different schemes to minimize the number of misclassified points in original MCLP. Especially, the complementarity is used to construct the first scheme and linear approximation technique is applied to solve it. Furthermore, successive linearization algorithm (SLA) is employed to achieve minimization the second scheme. Finally, numerical experiment tests the effect of this idea.

Optimization demands exist everywhere in the real world especially in science studies and engineering practices, and it is important that the method to deal with intricacy optimization problems should itself be relative simple. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE) both are simple evolutionary algorithms (EAs) which are proposed for single-objective optimization and both of them have been proved to be efficient methods for optimizing applications, however, there are still some weakness existing within them. A innovative evolutionary method named QUasi-Affine TRansformation Evolutionary (QUATRE) algorithm which is derived from, also tackles some weaknesses of PSO and DE algorithm, and obtains better performance on commonly used test suites. The key characteristic of QUATRE is that an automatically generated matrix named evolution matrix M is implemented in evolutionary process, which is taken as an alternative of employing the crossover rate CR. Here in this paper, we present a novel QUATRE variant, named IS-QUATRE, which can explore the search area in a better way comparison with the previous method, and relatively good optimization ability can be obtained by our proposed IS-QUATRE algorithm under CEC2013 test suit. And the conducted experimental results validate that our proposed IS-QUATRE is competitive with some other famous PSO and DE variants. © 2020 - IOS Press and the authors. All rights reserved.

He growth of the online data provides the user a access to information on the Internet but also creates the challenges to obtain the valuable knowledge. In this paper we focus on news text classification, which is meaningful for information provider to organize and display the news but also for the users to reach the valuable information easily. A hierarchy method based on LDA and SVM is proposed to accomplish this task and several experiments are conducted to evaluate our method. The results show that our method is promising in text classification problems.

Different features describe different views of visual appearance, multi-view based methods can integrate the information contained in each view and improve the image clustering performance. Most of the existing methods assume that the importance of one type of feature is the same to all the data. However, the visual appearance of images are different, so the description abilities of different features vary with different images. To solve this problem, we propose a group-aware multi-view fusion approach. Images are partitioned into groups which consist of several images sharing similar visual appearance. We assign different weights to evaluate the pairwise similarity between different groups. Then the clustering results and the fusion weights are learned by an iterative optimization procedure. Experimental results indicate that our approach achieves promising clustering performance compared with the existing methods.

Detection and classification of X-ray baggage security imagery are of great significance not only in daily life. However, up to now, it is still difficult for the traditional image processing methods to detect and distinguish objects which we want to detect in X-Ray baggage security imagery. Moreover, it is even more challenging to classify different types of objects. Although the current state-of-the-art detectors have achieved impressive performance on various public datasets with visible images, these detectors fail to deal with objects in X-ray images. This paper proposes an object detection algorithm for X-Ray baggage security screening images. Firstly, to outline the detected object from X-Ray baggage security imagery, we propose a fore-ground-background segmentation method which based on color information. Then, to classify and outline different type of object in X-Ray im-age, a deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) based object detection framework Faster R-CNN are proposed. In this stage we also use transfer learning method to speed up Faster R-CNN. The proposed method is proved to achieve 77% mAP by in a real-word dataset which contains 32,253 sub-way X-Ray baggage security screening images.

This paper explores a novel multi-modal alternating learning paradigm pursuing a reconciliation between the exploitation of uni-modal features and the exploration of cross-modal interactions. This is motivated by the fact that current paradigms of multi-modal learning tend to explore multi-modal features simultaneously. The resulting gradient prohibits further exploitation of the features in the weak modality, leading to modality competition, where the dominant modality overpowers the learning process. To address this issue, we study the modality-alternating learning paradigm to achieve reconcilement. Specifically, we propose a new method called ReconBoost to update a fixed modality each time. Herein, the learning objective is dynamically adjusted with a reconcilement regularization against competition with the historical models. By choosing a KL-based reconcilement, we show that the proposed method resembles Friedman's Gradient-Boosting (GB) algorithm, where the updated learner can correct errors made by others and help enhance the overall performance. The major difference with the classic GB is that we only preserve the newest model for each modality to avoid overfitting caused by ensembling strong learners. Furthermore, we propose a memory consolidation scheme and a global rectification scheme to make this strategy more effective. Experiments over six multi-modal benchmarks speak to the efficacy of the method. We release the code at https://***/huacong/ReconBoost. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

This study suggests a solution to the optimal reservoir operation's typical nonlinear optimization problem by an improved Bat algorithm (IBA). The reservoir operations issue is modeled as the objective function according to the runoff data and comprehensive utilization requirements dealing with IBA’s optimization method. The IBA is implemented by introducing adaptive weight into the bat algorithm (BA) for updating mechanism. The bat's position is adjusted dynamically according to the actual situation to improve the bat's searching performance. The mechanism Tabu search (TS) diversity is also used to enhance the bat population diversity for preventing the situation that circuitous search does not leap out of the local optimum. The simulation results show that IBA can obtain a better reservoir operation scheme with higher operating efficiency than other algorithms, which offers a new way to maximize reservoir power generation operation. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Video captioning, a challenging task targeting the automatic generation of accurate and comprehensive descriptions based on video content, has witnessed substantial success recently driven by bridging video representations and textual semantics. Inspired by the nature of the video retrieval task, which learns visual features strongly related to text queries, we propose to take advantage of visual representation learning from the video retrieval framework to tackle video captioning tasks. However, a simple direct application of video retrieval models performs poorly due to the weak ability to capture sufficient video details and temporal information required for video captioning. To increase the attention on details, we propose a learnable token shift module, which flexibly captures subtle movements in local regions across the temporal sequence. Furthermore, we devise a Refineformer, which learns to integrate local video tokens strongly related to desired captions via a cross-attention mechanism. Extensive experiments on MSVD, MSR-VTT and VATEX demonstrate the favorable performance of our method. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Video anomaly detection is a very challenging task because of the rarity, openness, and the definition of the anomalies. Researchers pay more attention to the characteristics of anomalies and have proposed a variety of anomaly detection models. However, most existing methods only use normal events to construct anomaly detection models and ignore the diversity and openness of normal events. Actually, because real-world video data often have an open-ended distribution, some normal patterns hardly ever appeared in the training data. In addition, analogous to human experience in identifying anomalies, rare abnormal events can play a certain role in the detection of similar abnormal events in the dataset. Therefore, assuming that a small number of abnormal events are known, we propose a novel supervised anomaly detection model which explicitly detects open normal events and open abnormal events in the dataset and treats open data and seen data with different classifiers. First, we use the training video to train an imbalanced classifier as the seen data classifier. Then, during the testing phase, an open data filter module isused to divide the test data into seen data and open data. Finally, we directly use the seen data classifier to generate anomaly scores for the seen test data. For the open test data, we adopt a domain adaptation method to reduce the distribution difference between it and the training data and train a new classifier to score for it. Extensive experimental results prove the effectiveness of our model.
