Uncertain graph generating approach based on differential privacy for preserving link relationship of social networks

With the widespread use of social networks in our daily life, the personal privacy in social networks has become a growing concern. To prevent the link relationship of social networks from disclosing users’ sensitive information when the social networks data is released, an uncertain graph approach based on differential privacy is introduced, which can resist attacks based on background knowledge and possesses better data utility. In this approach, we propose modification of edges based on random response (MERR) algorithm and injection of uncertainty based on k-edges-differential privacy (IUDP) algorithm. The MERR algorithm can modify the edge of original graph according to random response mechanism, while the IUDP algorithm injects uncertainty to generate an uncertain graph. For evaluating our approach, the expectation of editing distance between two graphs is adapted to measure the level of privacy preserving. In addition, our approach is conducted in different datasets and compared with other approaches. The experimental results indicate that this approach achieves differential privacy and has better data utility. Copyright © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Uncertainty-aware coarse-to-fine alignment for text-image person retrieval

Text-to-image person retrieval, a fine-grained cross-modal retrieval problem, aims to search for person images from an image library that match a given textual caption. Existing text-to-image person retrieval methods usually use fixed-point embedding to express the semantics of the two modalities and perform multi-granularity alignment between modalities in the embedding space. However, owing to the inherent mutual one-to-many correspondence between images and texts, it is often difficult for fixed-point embedding methods to adequately capture this relationship, leading to erroneous retrieval results. To address this problem, we propose a novel uncertainty-aware coarse-to-fine alignment method, which first maps fixed-point embedding to probability distributions and then aligns two modalities in terms of distributions and sampling points at a coarse-to-fine granularity, for accurate text-to-image person retrieval. Specifically, we first introduce two contrastive learning tasks of distribution contrast learning and point contrast learning, to achieve coarse-grained inter-modal alignment with uncertainty-aware. The distribution contrast learning task ensures that distributions with the same identity are as similar as possible across modalities through distribution-based contrastive learning. The point contrast learning task performs the contrastive learning of inter-modal and intra-modal sampling points, which not only models rich and diverse cross-modal associations, but also optimizes the learning of distributions. For the fine-grained association requirements of text-to-image person retrieval, we design the task of uncertainty-aware attribute masking language reconstruction, which achieves fine-grained alignment by randomly masking attribute words in the text and reconstructing them via inter-modal sample point interactions. Extensive experiments on two public datasets demonstrate the superior performance of our method. © The Author(s) 2025.

Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS) attacks target the forwarding-control separation feature of Software-Defined Networking(SDN) to launch attacks, causing network disruptions. Therefore security against DDoS attack detection for SDN controllers is the focus of current research. This paper proposes an Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) DDoS attack detection algorithm based on a combination of information gain and recursive feature elimination algorithms. We evaluated the performance of the method using the CICDDoS2019 dataset. This method works well in multi-classification model for attack detection with an accuracy of 93.41%. © 2023 IEEE.

Orbital angular momentum(OAM) modes provide an additional orthogonal physical dimension, offering transformative potential for enhancing optical communication capacity. Despite significant progress in mode multiplexing, the development of robust communication networks faces persistent challenges, particularly in effectively routing and controlling these multiplexed channels among network nodes. To tackle these dilemmas, we propose a rotatable diffractive neural network(R-DNN) strategy and demonstrate its capability for port-controllable OAM mode routing. By leveraging the correlation between the orthogonal evolution of OAM modes in free space and phase modulations during propagation, the R-DNN precisely shapes the spatial evolution of mode fields through multiple rotatable phase layers, enabling efficient routing to specific output ports. This approach exploits the interaction of secondary wavelets with the relative states of the rotatable layers, allowing on-demand control of mode evolution paths and enhancing routing flexibility. As a proof of concept, we developed a tri-functional router that successfully directs three OAM modes to individually controllable output ports. This router achieves an average intermode crosstalk of less than-16.4 dB across three functional states, one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and cross-connected switching, while supporting the routing of 5.85 Tbit/s quadrature phase-shift keying signals. These results highlight the R-DNN's effectiveness in achieving precise and controllable OAM mode manipulation, paving the way for advanced applications in mode-multiplexed communication networks and beyond.

Current malicious code detection models usually mainly focus on variants of popular programming languages and source codes, while ignoring the inherent semantic information in source codes. These approaches present significant challenges in the face of the vast amount of multi-programming language code that exists in repositories, open-source communities, blogs, and forums. To address this problem, we propose CrossLMD, a cross-language malicious code detection model capable of identifying malicious code across various programming languages using a single model. CrossLMD leverages large-scale pre-trained models to understand semantic dependencies between code written in different languages. We built a neural network classifier on top of the pre-trained model to fine-tune the pre-trained model for cross-programming language malicious code detection tasks. Our experimental results demonstrate that CrossLMD can effectively identify malicious code written in never-encountered programming languages, exhibiting superior performance compared to baseline methods. Our proposed model provides a more comprehensive solution for malicious code detection, taking into account the inherent semantic information of source code, regardless of language or syntax changes. Utilizing a single model to detect malicious code in multiple programming languages simplifies the detection process and improves efficiency and cost-effectiveness. © 2023 IEEE.

In bearing fault diagnosis, the residual network has achieved certain results. However, in strong noise environment, the fault diagnosis accuracy of traditional residual network is not high. Therefore, this article proposes an improved residual network with multi-channel (MCRN). In MCRN, each layer establishes a directly connection with input data, and forming a multi-channel feature extraction mode. Then, we design the multi-channel integration algorithm to extract fault features of signals. Thereby MCRN can obtain more complete fault information from input data. Experiments are conducted on the IMS datasets, and the effectiveness of MCRN is demonstrated. Compared with traditional methods, when the signal-to-noise ratio reaches −4 db, the accuracy of MCRN keeps over 95%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Lung diseases such as pneumonia and tuberculosis present significant global health challenges, leading to millions of deaths annually. Chest X-ray imaging is crucial for diagnosing these conditions, but interpretation often relies on specialized radiologists, creating barriers in resource-limited areas. This study introduces a novel framework integrating topological data analysis (TDA), deep learning with ResNet-50, and contrastive learning to enhance the accuracy and computational efficiency of chest X-ray analysis. TDA captures global topological structures, while ResNet-50 extracts detailed local features. Contrastive learning then optimizes the feature space, enhancing the model's discriminative power and generalization capabilities. Comprehensive evaluations on multiple datasets demonstrate the framework's robustness and effectiveness, showing substantial improvements in diagnostic performance and computational efficiency. These findings suggest that the proposed approach is well-suited for real-time clinical applications, especially in resource-limited settings. Future work will focus on further optimizing the model and exploring its application to other medical imaging modalities, broadening its clinical utility. © 2024 IEEE.

Compared with the graph structure, the hyper-graph structure can convey more complex and multivariate relationships. In addition, hypergraphs are more capable of portraying and mining higher-order nonlinear correlations among objects. Therefore, it has been widely used in feature selection, clustering classification, and addressing other issues, and hypergraph learning has also become an important branch in the field of machine learning. Hypergraph learning, however, is a relatively high time consuming learning algorithm, because in its iterative solving process, there are lots of high-dimension matrix computations with large-scale parameters. This paper proposes an optimization of the weights, which is constructed by Gaussian kernel, in hyper-graph transductive learning model the weight matrix is replaced by fixed parameters when constructing the hypergraph laplacian matrix, which reduces the time consuming of weights computation in iterative process. Extensive experimental with semi-supervised node classification experiment results on the UCI and Kaggle datasets show that the optimized model reduces the time consuming of the hypergraph model, while ensuring classification accuracy. After model optimization, the four accuracy indicators fluctuate on average 3.03%, the time consuming is reduced by 28.99% on average, and the maximum saving is 42.84%. © 2022 IEEE.

Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.
