In the evolving landscape of surveillance and security applications, the task of person re-identification(re-ID) has significant importance, but also presents notable difficulties. This task entails the process of accurately matching and identifying persons across several camera views that do not overlap with one another. This is of utmost importance to video surveillance, public safety, and person-tracking applications. However, vision-related difficulties, such as variations in appearance, occlusions, viewpoint changes, cloth changes, scalability, limited robustness to environmental factors, and lack of generalizations, still hinder the development of reliable person re-ID methods. There are few approaches have been developed based on these difficulties relied on traditional deep-learning techniques. Nevertheless, recent advancements of transformer-based methods, have gained widespread adoption in various domains owing to their unique architectural properties. Recently, few transformer-based person re-ID methods have developed based on these difficulties and achieved good results. To develop reliable solutions for person re-ID, a comprehensive analysis of transformer-based methods is necessary. However, there are few studies that consider transformer-based techniques for further investigation. This review proposes recent literature on transformer-based approaches, examining their effectiveness, advantages, and potential challenges. This review is the first of its kind to provide insights into the revolutionary transformer-based methodologies used to tackle many obstacles in person re-ID, providing a forward-thinking outlook on current research and potentially guiding the creation of viable applications in real-world scenarios. In the celebrated Stern-Gerlach experiment, an inhomogeneous static magnetic field separates a beam of charge-neutral atoms with opposite spins, thereby driving a “spin current” normal to the propagation direction. Here, we generalize it to the dynamic scenario by demonstrating a spin transfer from an ac inhomogeneous magnetic field to electrons or charge-neutral excitons and phonons. We predict that parametric pumping can efficiently radiate the angular momentum of local ac magnetic sources to their dc spin currents with van der Waals semiconductors as prototypes. This mechanism brings a unified and efficient paradigm in the spin transport of distinct mobile carriers.

Regenerators play a vital role in enhancing the overall performance of Stirling ***,this paper performed an energy and exergy analysis to elucidate the significance of regenerator characteristics concerning system performance,contributing to the optimal regenerator’s design and *** relationship between regenerator structure,regenerator exergy destruction,and output power,thermal efficiency,and exergy efficiency for Stirling engines was established by integrating the thermal model of Stirling engines with a mathematical model of *** contrast to cross-flow and parallel-flow regenerators,a novel concept of inclined-flow regenerators,featuring a matrix surface inclined in the direction of gas flow,was developed to achieve higher and more balanced engine output power and energy utilization efficiency.A comprehensive investigation was conducted into the effects of matrix structure types and regenerator geometries on the performance of both regenerators and *** results reveal that,following structural optimization,Stirling engines equipped with the inclined-flow regenerator demonstrate a substantial 16.6%,38.3%,and 37.2%increase in power output,thermal efficiency,and exergy efficiency,respectively,compared to those equipped with cross-flow *** contrast,when compared to engines fitted with parallel-flow regenerators,they experience a 13.5%reduction in power output but achieve remarkable enhancements of 45.4%and 36.7%in thermal and exergy efficiency,*** study introduces new insights into selecting regenerator structures for enhancing the output performance of Stirling engines.

All-reduce is a widely used communication technique for distributed and parallel applications typically implemented using either a tree-based or ring-based scheme. Each of these approaches has its own limitations: tree-based schemes struggle with efficiently exchanging large messages, while ring-based solutions assume constant communication throughput,an unrealistic expectation in modern network communication infrastructures. We present FMCC-RT, an all-reduce approach that combines the advantages of tree-and ring-based implementations while mitigating their drawbacks. FMCC-RT dynamically switches between tree and ring-based implementations depending on the size of the message being processed. It utilizes an analytical model to assess the impact of message sizes on the achieved throughput, enabling the derivation of optimal work partitioning parameters. Furthermore, FMCC-RT is designed with an Open MPI-compatible API, requiring no modification to user code. We evaluated FMCC-RT through micro-benchmarks and real-world application tests. Experimental results show that FMCC-RT outperforms state-of-the-art tree-and ring-based methods, achieving speedups of up to 5.6×.

Knowledge distillation(KD) enhances student network generalization by transferring dark knowledge from a complex teacher network. To optimize computational expenditure and memory utilization, self-knowledge distillation(SKD) extracts dark knowledge from the model itself rather than an external teacher network. However, previous SKD methods performed distillation indiscriminately on full datasets, overlooking the analysis of representative samples. In this work, we present a novel two-stage approach to providing targeted knowledge on specific samples, named two-stage approach self-knowledge distillation(TOAST). We first soften the hard targets using class medoids generated based on logit vectors per class. Then, we iteratively distill the under-trained data with past predictions of half the batch size. The two-stage knowledge is linearly combined, efficiently enhancing model performance. Extensive experiments conducted on five backbone architectures show our method is model-agnostic and achieves the best generalization ***, TOAST is strongly compatible with existing augmentation-based regularization methods. Our method also obtains a speedup of up to 2.95x compared with a recent state-of-the-art method.
