In the medical realm, the pivotal role of pathological Whole Slide Images (WSIs) in detecting cancer, tracking disease progression, and evaluating treatment efficacy is indisputable. Nevertheless, the identification and quantification of lesion areas in these gigapixel WSIs present a significant challenge due to their substantial size and the intricate details of lesions. To address these issues, we developed a novel multi-resolution and multi-scale cross fusion network (M2CF-Net), adept at managing large-scale pathological WSIs and capturing both fine details and context. Our model particularly focuses on segmenting local lymphocyte infiltration lesions in pathological WSIs of patients diagnosed with primary Sjogren's syndrome. By employing a patch-based training approach and combining interconnected elements via a multi-scale fusion technique, we enhance our model's capacity to detect and analyze structures and features in minor salivary gland section WSIs. Extensive experiments and ablation studies conducted on real-world clinical datasets affirm our model's superior accuracy in identifying lymphocyte-infiltrated regions over state-of-the-art models, with a performance improvement of up to 4.32% in terms of the Dice Similarity Coefficient. © 2023 IEEE.

Cloud-based machine learning services offer significant advantages but also introduce the risk of tampering with cloud-deployed deep neural network (DNN) models. Black-box integrity verification (BIV) allows model owners and end-users to determine if a cloud-deployed DNN model has been tampered with by examining only the top-1 label responses. Fingerprinting generates fingerprint samples to query the model, achieving BIV with no impact on the model's accuracy. In this paper, we present BIVBench, the first comprehensive benchmark for BIV of DNN models. BIVBench covers 16 types of model modifications, providing extensive coverage of practical modification scenarios. Our analysis reveals that existing fingerprinting methods, which are typically focused on significant tampering, lack the sensitivity needed to effectively detect subtle yet common and potentially severe modifications. To address this limitation, we propose MiSentry (Model Integrity Sentry), a novel fingerprinting method that leverages meta-learning. MiSentry strategically incorporates a few subtly modified models into the meta-learning model zoo and maximizes the divergence of output predictions between the target model and the modified models in the model zoo to generate highly sensitive, generalizable, and effective fingerprint samples. Extensive evaluations using BIVBench demonstrate that MiSentry outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods overall and significantly surpasses them in detecting subtle modifications. Meta-Multigraph Search: Rethinking Meta-Structure on Heterogeneous Information Networks

Meta-structures are widely used to define which subset of neighbors to aggregate information in heterogeneous information networks (HINs). In this work, we investigate existing meta-structures, including meta-path and meta-graph, and observe that they are initially designed manually with fixed patterns and hence are insufficient to encode various rich semantic information on diverse HINs. Through reflection on their limitation, we define a new concept called meta-multigraph as a more expressive and flexible generalization of meta-graph, and propose a stable differentiable search method to automatically optimize the meta-multigraph for specific HINs and tasks. As the flexibility of meta-multigraphs may propagate redundant messages, we further introduce a complex-to-concise (C2C) meta-multigraph that propagates messages from complex to concise along the depth of meta-multigraph. Moreover, we observe that the differentiable search typically suffers from unstable search and a significant gap between the meta-structures in search and evaluation. To this end, we propose a progressive search algorithm by implicitly narrowing the search space to improve search stability and reduce inconsistency. Extensive experiments are conducted on six medium-scale benchmark datasets and one large-scale benchmark dataset over two representative tasks, i.e., node classification and recommendation. Empirical results demonstrate that our search methods can automatically find expressive meta-multigraphs and C2C meta-multigraphs, enabling our model to outperform state-of-the-art heterogeneous graph neural networks. © 2023, The Authors. The medical community has more concern on lung cancer *** experts’physical segmentation of lung cancers is time-consuming and needs to be *** research study’s objective is to diagnose lung tumors at an early stage to extend the life of humans using deep learning ***-Aided Diagnostic(CAD)system aids in the diagnosis and shortens the time necessary to detect the tumor *** application of Deep Neural Networks(DNN)has also been exhibited as an excellent and effective method in classification and segmentation *** research aims to separate lung cancers from images of Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)with threshold *** Honey hook process categorizes lung cancer based on characteristics retrieved using several *** this principle,the work presents a solution for image compression utilizing a Deep Wave Auto-Encoder(DWAE).The combination of the two approaches significantly reduces the overall size of the feature set required for any future classification process performed using *** proposed DWAE-DNN image classifier is applied to a lung imaging dataset with Radial Basis Function(RBF)*** study reported promising results with an accuracy of 97.34%,whereas using the Decision Tree(DT)classifier has an accuracy of 94.24%.The proposed approach(DWAE-DNN)is found to classify the images with an accuracy of 98.67%,either as malignant or normal *** contrast to the accuracy requirements,the work also uses the benchmark standards like specificity,sensitivity,and precision to evaluate the efficiency of the *** is found from an investigation that the DT classifier provides the maximum performance in the DWAE-DNN depending on the network’s performance on image testing,as shown by the data acquired by the categorizers themselves.

The Sunway family supercomputers have achieved a series of remarkable achievements. However, the toolchains provided by them are not perfect, which has brought great challenges to the development of high-performance application software. In this paper, a profiling and optimizing tool is proposed to assist people to analyze and optimize the performance of their programs. SWPFOPLD is independent of the application program and gathers the runtime performance data through the PMUs, an automatically hot functions rearrange optimization based on the performance data is furtherly accomplished. The evaluation shows that SWPFOPLD can be easily and effectively used to analyze and optimize the performance of the application programs. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated learning (FL) has been widely acknowledged as a promising solution to training machine learning (ML) model training with privacy preservation. To reduce the traffic overheads incurred by FL systems, edge servers have been included between clients and the parameter server to aggregate clients' local models. Recent studies on this edge-assisted hierarchical FL scheme have focused on ensuring or accelerating model convergence by coping with various factors, e.g., uncertain network conditions, unreliable clients, heterogeneous compute resources, etc. This paper presents our three new discoveries of the edge-assisted hierarchical FL scheme: 1) it wastes significant time during its two-phase training rounds;2) it does not recognize or utilize model diversity when producing a global model;and 3) it is vulnerable to model poisoning attacks. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose FedEdge, a novel edge-assisted hierarchical FL scheme that accelerates model training with asynchronous local federated training and adaptive model aggregation. Extensive experiments are conducted on two widely-used public datasets. The results demonstrate that, compared with state-of-the-art FL schemes, FedEdge accelerates model convergence by 1.14 × -3.20 ×, and improves model accuracy by 2.14% - 6.63%. © 2023 ACM.

In an edge-assisted federated learning (FL) system, edge servers aggregate the local models from the clients within their coverage areas to produce intermediate models for the production of the global model. This significantly reduces the communication overhead incurred during the FL process. To accelerate model convergence, FedEdge, the state-of-the-art edge-assisted FL system, trains clients’ models in local federations when they wait for the global model in each training round. However, our investigation reveals that it drives the global model towards clients with excessive local training, causing model drifts that undermine model performance for other clients. To tackle this problem, this paper presents Maverick, a new edge-assisted FL system that mitigates model drifts by training personalized local models for clients through contrastive local training. It introduces a model-contrastive loss to facilitate personalized local federated training by driving clients’ local models away from the global model and close to their corresponding intermediate models. In addition, Maverick includes anomalous models in contrastive local training as negative samples to accelerate the convergence of clients’ local models. Extensive experiments are conducted on three widely-used models trained on three datasets to comprehensively evaluate the performance of Maverick. Compared to state-of-the-art edge-assisted FL systems, Maverick accelerates model convergence by up to 16.2x and improves model accuracy by up to 12.7%. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Previous studies consider little on using dependency-type messages in the E2E-ABSA task. Studies using dependency-type messages just contact the dependency-type message and word embedding vectors, which may not fully fuse the context feature and information from the dependency type. This paper proposes a new model called Dependency-Type Weighted Graph Convolution Network (DTW-GCN) to compose dependency-type messages and word embedding. We use a type-weighted matrix to combine the dependency-type message, and DTW-GCN could fuse the dependency-type message and word embedding vectors. Experiments conducted on three benchmark datasets verify the effectiveness of our model. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2024.

RankFIRST: Visual Analysis for Factor Investment By Ranking Stock Timeseries

In the era of quantitative investment, factor-based investing models are widely adopted in the construction of stock portfolios. These models explain the performance of individual stocks by a set of financial factors, e.g., market beta and company size. In industry, open investment platforms allow the online building of factor-based models, yet set a high bar on the engineering expertise of end-users. State-of-the-art visualization systems integrate the whole factor investing pipeline, but do not directly address domain users' core requests on ranking factors and stocks for portfolio construction. The current model lacks explainability, which downgrades its credibility with stock investors. To fill the gap in modeling, ranking, and visualizing stock time series for factor investment, we designed and implemented a visual analytics system, namely RankFIRST. The system offers built-in support for an established factor collection and a cross-sectional regression model viable for human interpretation. A hierarchical slope graph design is introduced according to the desired characteristics of good factors for stock investment. A novel firework chart is also invented extending the well-known candlestick chart for stock time series. We evaluated the system on the full-scale Chinese stock market data in the recent 30 years. Case studies and controlled user evaluation demonstrate the superiority of our system on factor investing, in comparison to both passive investing on stock indices and existing stock market visual analytics tools.
