Multi-hop reasoning has been widely studied for its important application values in the domain of intelligent search and question answering. Real-world applications are often dominated by natural language input, and it is difficult to directly model the relation semantics in natural language to fit the multi-hop reasoning model. In addition, the extremely large scale and complex structure of knowledge graphs increase the challenge. We propose a natural language and knowledge graph fusion model (NLKGF) for multi-hop reasoning. NLKGF embeds knowledge graph by fusing natural language semantics during the graph propagation process and adds a relation attention mechanism to enable entity representations to perceive the contribution of different relations. A relation path encoder is designed to encode the relation path by an improved recurrent neural network, the reasoning entity is obtained by calculating the correlation score with the natural language. We tested the performance of the NLKGF model on two datasets requiring multi-hop reasoning. The experimental results show that NLKGF beats advanced benchmark models in multi-hop reasoning tasks, which proves superiority of our model. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Semantic reasoning techniques based on knowledge graphs have been widely studied since they were proposed. Previous studies are mostly based on closed-world assumptions, which cannot reason about unknown facts. To this end, we propose the Two-Stage Temporal Reasoning Model (TSTR) for reasoning about future facts. In the first stage, probability of future facts occurring is reasoned using repeated information in history. In the second stage, the semantics of the neighborhood nodes are aggregated using the structural encoder and the temporal information is captured using the temporal encoder. The predicted probabilities are obtained by the decoder. Finally, the candidate entity probabilities of the two-stage reasoning are weighted to achieve the prediction of the two-stage fusion. We tested the performance of the TSTR on public datasets and the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the TSTR. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Commonsense knowledge (CSK) is the information that people use in daily life but do not often mention. It summarizes the practical knowledge about how the world works. Existing machines have knowledge but lack commonsense because they do not understand and master commonsense knowledge in the same way that humans do. In the latest works, crowdsourcing-based method is costly and has low coverage, knowledge base completion method can highly fit samples, and methods extracted from unstructured data have the defects of low quality. CG &BF is commonsense knowledge construction with a concept-based generator and a BERT-based filter. We utilize semantic search for node matching and entropy encoder for filtering triples with high abstraction. Two algorithms based on concept aggregation and path credibility are proposed to obtain high-quality CSK triples. We subsequently finetuning a BERT to filter incorrect triples. We obtain 500,000 CSK triples based on ConceptNet, which is superior to other construction methods in novelty and quality. In the reading comprehension task, the three-way attention network is selected as the basic model and the knowledge we generate enables the base model to perform better, which proves that the output of CG &BF has higher quality and ease of use. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The scale of real-world graphs is constantly growing. To deal with large-scale graphs, distributed graph processing has attracted much research efforts. Existing distributed graph processing systems are commonly built on traditional TCP/IP communication stack, which leads to network bottleneck because of low bandwidth and heavy kernel stack operations. Meanwhile, in real power-law graphs, the average number of mirror vertices after graph partitioning is very large, resulting in significant communication overhead among nodes. The emerging high-performance Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) network has the features of low latency, high bandwidth, and low CPU overhead, which brings new opportunities for distributed graph processing systems. Existing RDMA-assisted graph processing systems focus on synchronous execution, which imposes barriers between consecutive iterations. Synchronous execution transfers bulk data among nodes and thus only needs a small number of network transfers. However, synchronous execution is usually less efficient than asynchronous execution because of bulk synchronization. Asynchronous execution accelerates graph processing by eliminating barriers, which in turn requires to transfer a large amount of small size data. In this paper, we propose RGraph, an RDMA-assisted asynchronous distributed graph processing system. RGraph distributes edges into two parts to isolate master and mirror vertices. RGraph exploits the asymmetry of RDMA to accelerate the one-to-many communication between master and mirror vertices. We implement RGraph on top of PowerGraph and conduct comprehensive experiments with large-scale real graphs to evaluate its performance. Results show that compared to existing designs, RGraph reduces the execution time by up to 81%. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Colorectal intraepithelial neoplasia is a precancerous lesion of colorectal cancer, which is mainly diagnosed using pathological images. According to the characteristics of lesions, precancerous lesions can be classified into four different grades, i.e., background, normal, low and high level. However, due to the continuity of lesion development, tissue in different stages has high similarity. Recently, visual transformers have achieved impressive results in different visual tasks, due to their capacity of capturing long-range dependencies. However, due to computational cost, transformer cannot well extract detailed feature, which is important for lesion grading. To accurately segment pathological tissues with high similarity, in this work, we embed the multi-head MLP mixer module in the transformer network to extract cell and edge information. Furthermore, we propose a hierarchical MLP decoder to facilitate multi-scale feature fusion. The proposed transformer, namely MLPFormer, achieves remarkable results against competitive baselines on the Histo-CRC Biopsy dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that MLPFormer significantly outperforms the competitive baselines, i.e., a 3% dice improvement is achieved over the SegFormer series. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This article mainly conducts a series of research on the synchronization control of Cohen-Grossberg neural networks. Firstly, a memristive Cohen-Grossberg neural network model with time-varying delay was constructed, and an equivalent system was obtained by combining inverse function theory, differential inclusion, and set-valued mapping. Secondly, a new predefined-time stability theorem was proposed, and sufficient conditions were obtained to ensure that the drive-response system achieves predefined-time synchronization by designing appropriate control strategy. The simulation results show that the stability time of the error system can be adjusted by the user, verifying the correctness and of the theory. © 2023 IEEE.

The dynamic connectivity and functionality of sensors has revolutionized remote monitoring applications thanks to the combination of IoT and wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Wearable wireless medical sensor nodes allow continuous monitoring by amassing physiological data, which is very useful in healthcare applications. These text data are then sent to doctors via IoT devices so they can make an accurate diagnosis as soon as possible. However, the transmission of medical text data is extremely vulnerable to security and privacy assaults due to the open nature of the underlying communication medium. Therefore, a certificate-less aggregation-based signature system has been proposed as a solution to the issue by using elliptic curve public key cryptography (ECC) which allows for a highly effective technique. The cost of computing has been reduced by 93% due to the incorporation of aggregation technology. The communication cost is 400 bits which is a significant reduction when compared with its counterparts. The results of the security analysis show that the scheme is robust against forging, tampering, and man-in-the-middle attacks. The primary innovation is that the time required for signature verification can be reduced by using point addition and aggregation. In addition, it does away with the reliance on a centralized medical server in order to do verification. By taking a distributed approach, it is able to fully preserve user privacy, proving its superiority. © 2023, The Author(s).

In the field of meteorology, precipitation holds significant importance for human activities and environment. Extended-range precipitation forecasting, covering a timeframe of weeks to months, is crucial across various sectors, including water resource management, agriculture, and disaster prevention. However, the conventional meteorological forecasting models often fail to satisfy the precise demand for accurate and detailed precipitation predictions due to the inherent limitations in resolution and data collection frequency associated with these methods. Recently, super resolution technology has emerged as a promising solution with the potential to transform the resolution of meteorological data. By leveraging advanced algorithms and computational prowess, this technology can generate high-resolution images from low-resolution inputs. In this comprehensive review, we meticulously dissect the state-of-the-art super resolution techniques utilized in extended-range precipitation forecasting tasks. By classifying and analyzing the literature based on various methodologies, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), generative adversarial networks (GANs), and diffusion models, we uncover their performance characteristics, strengths, and limitations. Our in-depth exploration reveals that while these methods have shown promise, they also face significant challenges. For example, CNNs struggle with capturing ultrafine details, GANs exhibit training instability, and diffusion models require further optimizations in terms of their computational efficiency. Future research efforts should focus on enhancing model architectures, seamlessly incorporating physical constraints to ensure the physical consistency of the generated data, and optimizing the current data utilization strategies. Furthermore, it is crucial to develop comprehensive evaluation metrics, conduct extensive long-term and regional validation studies, and establish effective uncertainty quantification metho

Research on key technologies of edge cache in virtual data space across WAN

The authors of this paper have previously proposed the global virtual data space system (GVDS) to aggregate the scattered and autonomous storage resources in China’s national supercomputer grid (National Supercomputing center in Guangzhou, National Supercomputing center in Jinan, National Supercomputing center in Changsha, Shanghai Supercomputing center, and computer Network Information center in Chinese Academy of sciences) into a storage system that spans the wide area network (WAN), which realizes the unified management of global storage resources in China. At present, the GVDS has been successfully deployed in the China National Grid environment. However, when accessing and sharing remote data in the WAN, the GVDS will cause redundant transmission of data and waste a lot of network bandwidth resources. In this paper, we propose an edge cache system as a supplementary system of the GVDS to improve the performance of upper-level applications accessing and sharing remote data. Specifically, we first designs the architecture of the edge cache system, and then study the key technologies of this architecture: the edge cache index mechanism based on double-layer hashing, the edge cache replacement strategy based on the GDSF algorithm, the request routing based on consistent hashing method, and the cluster member maintenance method based on the SWIM protocol. The experimental results show that the edge cache system has successfully implemented the relevant operation functions (read, write, deletion, modification, etc.) and is compatible with the POSIX interface in terms of function. Further, it can greatly reduce the amount of data transmission and increase the data access bandwidth when the accessed file is located at the edge cache system in terms of performance, i.e., its performance is close to the performance of the network file system in the local area network (LAN).
