MicroRNAs can regulate hundreds of target genes and play a pivotal role in a broad range of biological process. However, relatively little is known about how these highly connected miRNAs-target networks are remodelled in the context of various diseases. Here we examine the dynamic alteration of context-specific miRNA regulation to determine whether modified microRNAs regulation on specific biological processes is a useful information source for predicting cancer prognosis. A new concept, Context-specific miRNA activity (CoMi activity) is introduced to describe the statistical difference between the expression level of a miRNA's target genes and non-targets genes within a given gene set (context).

Human interaction is one of the most important characteristics of group social dynamics in meetings. In this paper, we propose an approach for capture, recognition, and visualization of human interactions. Unlike physical interactions (e.g., turn-taking and addressing), the human interactions considered here are incorporated with semantics, i.e., user intention or attitude toward a topic. We adopt a collaborative approach for capturing interactions by employing multiple sensors, such as video cameras, microphones, and motion sensors. A multimodal method is proposed for interaction recognition based on a variety of contexts, including head gestures, attention from others, speech tone, speaking time, interaction occasion (spontaneous or reactive), and information about the previous interaction. A support vector machines (SVM) classifier is used to classify human interaction based on these features. A graphical user interface called MMBrowser is presented for interaction visualization. Experimental results have shown the effectiveness of our approach. ©2009 IEEE.

In this paper the authors present an attack on 7-round AES-128/256 to improve the known cryptanalysis by changing the order of round transformation , using the alternative representation of the round keys, exploiting the relationship of keys, designing the key difference pattern properly. By using the improved attack method, the complexity is reduced from 2192 to 2104 with 272 chosen plaintexts, the authors reduce complexity to 288 using partial sums. ©2010 IEEE.

In this paper a new signature scheme,called Policy-Endorsing Attribute-Based Signature,is developed to correspond with the existing Ciphertext-Policy Attribute-Based *** signature provides a policy-and-endorsement *** this mechanism a single user,whose attributes satisfy the predicate,endorses the *** signature allows the signer to announce his endorsement using an access policy without having to reveal the identity of the *** security of this signature,selfless anonymity and existential unforgeability,is based on the Strong Diffie-Hellman assumption and the Decision Linear assumption in bilinear map groups.

Reasoning by the usage of mental images has been the subject of much debate in Cognitive science, especially among the schools of depictive and descriptive imagistic representations. Whether or not reasoning with mental images involves a mechanism or a process different from language based reasoning is an important question. This paper proposes that any theory which aims for a cohesive whole needs to be constrained by neurophysiological data and such data can be obtained by the Clock Drawing Test. The Clock Drawing Test (CDT) is a screening tool for cognitive impairment and can be used as a tool to test resilience of certain factors of visual spatial representations. Thus, it can help to form an empirical case for which factors are prone to debility and which factors are not during the onset and progress of cognitive impairment from a mental representation point of view. This paper presents 50 CDT tests done on patients with cognitive impairment and analyses the results which support the case for a depictive rather than a descriptive theory for imagistic representations. Lastly, this paper proposes that there is some evidence for a more dynamic and distributed nature of representation in the observations which question the above dichotomy and can be partly explained by certain aspects of the connectionist school of thought. Similar Link Network (SiLN) is a semantic over layer on Web resources with similar relations instead of hyperlinks, which aims at providing plentiful semantics for intelligent Web activities. However, SiLN is difficult to be built based on cosine computation in large-scale Web resources due to its high building time complexity and weak connectivity. Herein, three strategies are proposed to address those issues. First, dividing and conquering strategy is applied to divide the large-scale Web resources into amounts of rough similar communities, which reduces SiLN's building time complexity significantly. After that, a multi-level structure network is designed to effectively manage the large-scale Web resources to guarantee SiLN's connectivity. Finally, two-level feedback with isolated resources strategy is developed to improve the accuracy of the building of SiLN. Experimental results have proved that our proposed method of building SiLN is feasible and efficient, with the merits of low complexity, good connectivity and high precision. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper presents a system which adopts a standard sequence labeling technique for hedge detection and scope finding. For the first task, hedge detection, we formulate it as a hedge labeling problem, while for the second task, we use a two-step labeling strategy, one for hedge cue labeling and the other for scope finding. In particular, various kinds of syntactic features are systemically exploited and effectively integrated using a large-scale normalized feature selection method. Evaluation on the CoNLL-2010 shared task shows that our system achieves stable and competitive results for all the closed tasks. Furthermore, post-deadline experiments show that the performance can be much further improved using a sufficient feature selection. © 2010 Association for Computational Linguistics

Currently, Java has been gradually applied in embedded real-time area with the improvement by the Real-Time Specification for Java (RTSJ). Accordingly, a hardware Java execution engine for embedded real-time applications, JPOR-32 (32-bit Java Processor Optimized for RTSJ), is designed. Taking JPOR-32 for an example, this paper presents the garbage collection mechanism for RTSJ-oriented embedded processor in detail. JPOR-32 provides effective architectural support for garbage collection. And the object reference format of JPOR-32 provides supports for objects tracing and heap scanning. The support for write barrier of real-time concurrent GC is also performed. Moreover, JPOR- 32 provides optimized instruction level support for garbage collection. In addition, different garbage collection algorithms are compared on the base of the resource-constrained feature and the real-time requirement of the processor, and the hybrid garbage collectors are suggested. © 2010 IEEE.

Service supply chain (SSC) has attracted more and more attention from academia and industry. Although there exists extensive product-based supply chain management models and methods, they are not applicable to the SSC as the differences between service and product. Besides, the existing supply chain management models and methods possess some common deficiencies. Because of the above reasons, this paper develops a novel value-oriented model for the management of SSC using the modeling methods of E3-value and Use Case Maps (UCMs). This model can not only resolve the problems of applicability and effectiveness of the existing supply chain management models and methods, but also answer the questions of 'why the management model is this?' and 'how to quantify the potential profitability of the supply chains?'. Meanwhile, the service business processes of SSC system can be established using its logic procedure. In addition, the model can also determine the value and benefits distribution of the entire service value chain and optimize the operations management performance of the service supply. ©2010 IEEE.

Testing-as-a-service (TaaS) is a new model to provide testing capabilities to end users. Users save the cost of complicated maintenance and upgrade effort, and service providers can upgrade their services without impact on the end-users. Due to uneven volumes of concurrent requests, it is important to address the elasticity of TaaS platform in a cloud environment. Scheduling and dispatching algorithms are developed to improve the utilization of computing resources. We develop a prototype of TaaS over cloud, and evaluate the scalability of the platform by increasing the test task load;analyze the distribution of computing time on test task scheduling and test task processing over the cloud;and examine the performance of proposed algorithms by comparing others. © 2010 IEEE.
