As the global population continues to age, there is a concurrent rise in the number of individuals experiencing cognitive impairment and dementia, underscoring the critical necessity to address their hospice needs and quality of life concerns. Numerous studies have underscored the positive impact of exposure to outdoor environments on their overall condition and well-being. However, cognitive challenges often hinder their capacity to perform basic tasks independently, necessitating frequent assistance from onsite professionals. Complicating matters further, the complexity of outdoor settings often results in difficulties in identifying and recognizing personnel. This paper introduces Profinder, a system designed to assist individuals with cognitive impairment in identifying occupational personnel at specific outdoor locations and accessing essential assistance. Utilizing advanced deep learning techniques, Profinder seamlessly integrates foreground and background information, incorporates attention mechanisms, and harnesses siamese networks for efficient information decoupling, thereby achieving occupational recognition on smart mobile devices with an accuracy rate exceeding 90%. Additionally, a meticulously curated dataset dedicated to occupation recognition was devel0oped to facilitate and validate this research endeavor. By providing a robust auxiliary tool for individuals with cognitive impairment, this research endeavors to enhance their autonomy and overall quality of life, while also laying a solid foundation for further exploration and innovation in this burgeoning field, both within academia and industry. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Maternal health is among the greatest challenges in the world, especially in rural areas as there lack medical practitioners, they do not have easily accessible publics clinics and transport is difficult. Therefore, high rates of maternal as well as infant morbidity and mortalities are recorded. This research utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) with machine learning algorithms to forecast and address maternal health hazards right at their onset stage. The current research utilizes the concept of AI along with many Machine Learning (ML) methods like the Ensemble Learning Model (ELM), Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN), Decision-Tree (DT), XG-Boost (XGB), Cat Boost (CB), and Gradient Boosting (GB), along with Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) algorithm used for dealing with the problem class imbalance within the data set. SMOTE algorithm is utilized for the dataset balancing process. The handling system involves refining data preprocessing with the help of feature engineering and robust data cleaning which makes sure that anomalies do not erode the reliability of the predictive model. The existing methods [1] used RF (90%), DT (87%), XGB (85%), CB (86%), and GB (81%) algorithms and were compared with the accuracies of the proposed models like Logistic Regression (LR), Ensemble Learning Bagging (ELB), Ensemble Learning Stacking (ELS), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). The existing methods used only imbalance dataset. The accuracies of the proposed models with using SMOTE algorithm (balanced dataset) are LR (61.33%), KNN (81%), ELB (92.33%), ELS (90.66%) CNN (40.67%), RNN (59.67%), LSTM (54%), GRU (56%) respectively. Among these methods, ELB achieved 92.33% of accuracy with using SMOTE algorithm using imbalanced dataset. Whereas the accuracies of the proposed models without using SMOTE algorithm (imbalanced dataset) are LR (66.09%), KNN (68.47%)

SAECNet: Self-Attention Encryption and Compression Network Based on Bidirectional Cyclic Multi-Scroll Memristor Neural Network

This paper introduces a memristor-based neural network with bidirectional cyclic constructed from square wave pulse functions. Additionally, we design an image encryption and compression network framework incorporating a self-attention mechanism based on this memristor neural network. Specifically, this study introduces a novel model of a high-dimensional multi-scroll memristor neural network (MMNN) that incorporates three neurons and a synapse made from memristive elements. Its complex dynamic behavior is analyzed in depth. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed MMNN can generate an unlimited number of hyperchaotic multi-scroll attractors and various other types of dynamics, which can be fine-tuned by modifying the system's parameters or initial conditions. Additionally, a simulated equivalent circuit for MMNN proves the validity and practicality of the multi-scroll attractor behavior. Finally, an image encryption and compression network framework based on end-to-end and MMNN and the self-attention mechanism is proposed, called SAECNet. Extensive performance evaluation highlights the system's high accuracy in compression and reconstruction, strong encryption capabilities, and solid defense against potential attacks. © 2025 IEEE. Sorting algorithms are the most extensively researched topics in computer science and serve for numerous practical applications. Although various sorts have been proposed for efficiency, different architectures offer distinct flavors to the implementation of parallel sorting. In this paper, we propose a hybrid vectorized merge sort on ARM NEON, named NEON Merge Sort for short (NEON-MS). In detail, according to the granted register functions, we first identify the optimal register number to avoid the register-to-memory access, due to the write-back of intermediate outcomes. More importantly, following the generic merge sort framework that primarily uses sorting network for column sort and merging networks for three types of vectorized merge, we further improve their structures for high efficiency in an unified asymmetry way: 1) it makes the optimal sorting networks with few comparators become possible;2) hybrid implementation of both serial and vectorized merges incurs the pipeline with merge instructions highly interleaved. Experiments on a single FT2000+ core show that NEON-MS is 3.8 and 2.1 times faster than std::sort and boost::block_sort, respectively, on average. Additionally, as compared to the parallel version of the latter, NEON-MS gains an average speedup of 1.25. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The core of self-supervised point cloud learning lies in setting up appropriate pretext tasks, to construct a pre-training framework that enables the encoder to perceive 3D objects effectively. In this paper, we integrate two prevalent methods, masked point modeling (MPM) and 3D-to-2D generation, as pretext tasks within a pre-training framework. We leverage the spatial awareness and precise supervision offered by these two methods to address their respective limitations: ambiguous supervision signals and insensitivity to geometric information. Specifically, the proposed framework, abbreviated as PointCG, consists of a Hidden Point Completion (HPC) module and an Arbitrary-view Image Generation (AIG) module. We first capture visible points from arbitrary views as inputs by removing hidden points. Then, HPC extracts representations of the inputs with an encoder and completes the entire shape with a decoder, while AIG is used to generate rendered images based on the visible points’ representations. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method over the baselines in various downstream tasks. Our code will be made available upon acceptance. © 2025 IEEE.

Text-to-image generation has made remarkable progress with the emergence of diffusion models. However, it is still a difficult task to generate images for street views based on text, mainly because the road topology of street scenes is complex, the traffic status is diverse and the weather condition is various, which makes conventional text-to-image models difficult to deal with. To address these challenges, we propose a novel controllable text-to-image framework, named Text2Street. In the framework, we first introduce the lane-aware road topology generator, which achieves text-to-map generation with the accurate road structure and lane lines armed with the counting adapter, realizing the controllable road topology generation. Then, the position-based object layout generator is proposed to obtain text-to-layout generation through an object-level bounding box diffusion strategy, realizing the controllable traffic object layout generation. Finally, the multiple control image generator is designed to integrate the road topology, object layout and weather description to realize controllable street-view image generation. Extensive experiments show that the proposed approach achieves controllable street-view text-to-image generation and validates the effectiveness of the Text2Street framework for street views. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Dynamic brain networks play a pivotal role in diagnosing brain disorders by capturing temporal changes in brain activity and connectivity. Previous methods often rely on sliding-window approaches for constructing these networks using fMRI data. However, these methods face two key limitations: a fixed temporal length that inadequately captures brain activity dynamics and a global spatial scope that introduces noise and reduces sensitivity to localized dysfunctions. These challenges can lead to inaccurate brain network representations and potential *** address these challenges, we propose BrainDGT, a dynamic Graph Transformer model designed to enhance the construction and analysis of dynamic brain networks for more accurate diagnosis of brain disorders. BrainDGT leverages adaptive brain states by deconvolving the Hemodynamic Response Function (HRF) within individual functional brain modules to generate dynamic graphs, addressing the limitations of fixed temporal length and global spatial scope. The model learns spatio-temporal local features through attention mechanisms within these graphs and captures global interactions across modules using adaptive fusion. This dual-level integration enhances the model's ability to analyze complex brain connectivity patterns. We validate BrainDGT's effectiveness through classification experiments on three fMRI datasets (ADNI, PPMI, and ABIDE), where it outperforms state-of-the-art methods. By enabling adaptive, localized analysis of dynamic brain networks, BrainDGT advances neuroimaging and supports the development of more precise diagnostic and treatment strategies in biomedical research. © 2025 IEEE. Even though numerous ICT-based solutions have been put forth for the detection of accidents and rescue missions, they often suffer from compatibility issues with different vehicles and are accompanied by high costs. This paper introduces a cutting-edge intelligent system designed for accident detection and rescue, mirroring human cognitive functions through integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence. A specialized kit for IoT has been created to identify accidents and gather comprehensive incident-related data, such as pressure, position, gravitational force, and speed. This information is then transmitted to the cloud for processing. A deep learning model is implemented in the cloud environment to verify the IoT module's output and activate the rescue mechanism when an accident is detected. The DL module, employing ensemble transfer learning with dynamic weights, aims to minimize false detection rates. Because there isn't an appropriate dataset available, a personalized dataset is generated from diverse online videos. To validate the proposed method, a comparative analysis is conducted on Yolo V4. Experimental results indicate that Yolo V4 outperforms, achieving training, validation, and test accuracies of 98.2% each. To assess the system's real-world applicability, it undergoes validation using a robot car model. Copyright © 2025 KSII.

Manipulated images are flooding our daily lives, which poses a threat to social security. Recently, many studies have focused on image tampering detection. However, they have poor performance on independent validation due to differences in image scenes and tampering methods. The key question is how to design a network that is able to adaptively enhance the tampering information and suppress the generalization features during training. To this end, we propose a dual-branch network with a frequency adaptation paradigm and a feature fusion module for robust tampering image detection. First, this paradigm is designed to adaptively highlight tampering features through frequency conversion and learnable weight. Second, a feature fusion module is developed to filter redundant features and dynamically fuse two-branch features. Experiments on eight typical datasets demonstrate that our model has advantages over state-of-the-art algorithms, and our paradigm can well empower semantic segmentation networks for tampering detection. © 2024 IEEE.

Colorectal intraepithelial neoplasia is a precancerous lesion of colorectal cancer, which is mainly diagnosed using pathological images. According to the characteristics of lesions, precancerous lesions can be classified into four different grades, i.e., background, normal, low and high level. However, due to the continuity of lesion development, tissue in different stages has high similarity. Recently, visual transformers have achieved impressive results in different visual tasks, due to their capacity of capturing long-range dependencies. However, due to computational cost, transformer cannot well extract detailed feature, which is important for lesion grading. To accurately segment pathological tissues with high similarity, in this work, we embed the multi-head MLP mixer module in the transformer network to extract cell and edge information. Furthermore, we propose a hierarchical MLP decoder to facilitate multi-scale feature fusion. The proposed transformer, namely MLPFormer, achieves remarkable results against competitive baselines on the Histo-CRC Biopsy dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that MLPFormer significantly outperforms the competitive baselines, i.e., a 3% dice improvement is achieved over the SegFormer series. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
