Recently, graph neural networks(GNNs) have played a key crucial in many recommendation situations. In particular, contrastive learning-based hypergraph neural networks (HGNNs) are gradually becoming a research focus for addressing issues of data sparsity and noise. Despite many studies proving their outstanding performance, there are still some shortcomings: i) Most contrastive learning-based HGNNs primarily rely on cross-view contrastive learning, while neglecting contrastive learning on the interaction graph. ii) Utilizing node embedding for hypergraph structure learning is susceptible to the influence of low-quality representations, thereby constraining the learning capability of HGNNs. To address these issues, we offer a Semantic Similarity-based Graph Contrastive Learning framework (SSGCL), which aims to jointly learn representations with rich semantic information through within-view and cross-view contrastive learning. Specifically, we first introduce consistency contrastive learning, which captures self-supervised signals through semantic similarity between nodes and their neighborhoods. It better captures the unique features of nodes through the connections between nodes and their neighborhoods. Then, we utilize interaction graph learning hypergraph structure, promoting it to extract potential node connections and thus improving its ability to describe homogeneous node relationships. The conventional Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm is a state-of-the-art trust-region optimization method for solving bundle adjustment problems in the Structure-from-Motion community, which not only takes advantage of the fast convergence of the Gauss-Newton method, but also the stability of the gradient descent method when approaching optimal solutions. However, the damping ratio of LM is simply provided by trial-and-error, which causes slow convergence rate for large-scale problems. This paper proposes the Yamashita-Fukushima LM (YFLM) algorithm to reduce the time complexity for global bundle adjustment, where the damping factor is determined by Yamashita and Fukushima’s method. YFLM dynamically calculates a more reasonable and optimal damping ratio according to the newest reprojection error. The experimental results show that the YFLM algorithm outperforms the conventional LM algorithm for most public bundle adjustment datasets. Besides this, the convergence of the YFLM algorithm is also evaluated with different σ∈(0,2]. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Decentralized Authentication Scheme Incorporating Reputation and Attribute Signature for Cross-Web3 Applications

Driven by Web 3.0, the number of decentralized applications (DAPPs) continues to increase, and the need for decentralized authentication across applications becomes more and more significant. In addition, multi-dimensional reputation assessment becomes especially critical in a decentralized environment. However, there is still a lack of trusted and flexible self-sovereign identity (SSI) authentication mechanisms in Web 3.0 decentralized zero-trust cross-applications access scenarios. In response to these challenges, we propose a decentralized authentication scheme that fuses reputation assessment and attribute signature for the open and self-organized Web3 application. Firstly, we design an attribute signature method based on the attributes in a user's verifiable credentials (VCs). The signature can be used for authentication across Web3 applications, and the authenticator can flexibly adjust the attributes to be verified and their number according to specific needs. Meanwhile, in the attribute signature, we construct a multi-dimensional reputation assessment mechanism to comprehensively assess the user's reputation from multiple aspects to determine his/her security risk level, so as to reduce the possibility of identity fraud. Ultimately, through comparative analysis, we verify the advantages of the scheme in terms of privacy, scalability and attack resistance. Moreover, we analyze the performance of the key algorithms in the scheme through simulation experiments, and the experimental results show that our scheme is feasible. © 2014 IEEE.

Multi-scale convolutional fusion network embedded with improved attention mechanism for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar image classification

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely applied in the field of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image classification and have achieved good classification results. However, due to the complexity of polarimetric information, traditional CNN structures are difficult to fully extract and integrate information from multiple polarimetric channels, resulting in insufficient feature diversity, which limits further improvement in classification accuracy. To this problem, this article proposes a multi-scale convolutional fusion network (MCF-Net). MCF-Net employs convolutional kernels of various sizes to perform parallel convolutions, extracting multi-scale features and optimally fusing them, thereby greatly enhancing the diversity and completeness of feature representation. In addition, to enhance the network's focus on important features and suppress irrelevant information, this article proposes an improved squeeze-and-excitation (SE) module, guided by mean, entropy, and Z-score (MEZ-SE), to weigh the importance of feature maps. By embedding the MEZ-SE module into MCF-Net, MEZ-MCF-Net significantly improves the completeness of feature representation and enhances the ability to distinguish different land cover categories. On the Flevoland, San Francisco, and Oberfaffenhofen PolSAR datasets, the overall accuracy of MEZ-MCF-Net exceeds that of the second-best method by 3.04%, 2.09%, and 1.99%, respectively. There is no doubt that MEZ-MCF-Net is an effective method for PolSAR image classification. © 2025 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).

3DGCformer: 3-Dimensional Graph Convolutional transformer for multi-step origin–destination matrix forecasting

Forecasting Human mobility is of great significance in the simulation and control of infectious diseases like COVID-19. To get a clear picture of potential future outbreaks, it is necessary to forecast multi-step Origin–Destination (OD) matrices for a relatively long period in the future. However, multi-step Origin–Destination Matrix Forecasting (ODMF) is a non-trivial problem. First, previous ODMF models only forecast the OD matrix for the next time-step, and they cannot perform well on long-term multi-step forecasts due to error accumulation. Second, many ODMF methods capture spatial and temporal dependencies with separate modules, which is insufficient to model spatio-temporal correlations in the time-varying OD matrix sequence. To address the challenges in multi-step ODMF, we propose 3-Dimensional Graph Convolutional Transformer (3DGCformer). As an enhancement of the original 3DGCN, we propose a novel Origin–Destination Feature Propagation (ODFP) rule between 3DGCN layers and integrate 2 3DGCNs with different spatio-temporal graphs and corresponding feature propagation rules to model the formation of OD flows in a more comprehensive way. For multi-step forecasts, 3DGCformer uses Transformer to capture long-term global temporal dependency, and adapt its decoder using labeled tokens to avoid error accumulation and improve time efficiency. To avoid information loss as the number of regions increases, we propose a patch embedding approach to convert data from 3DGCNs to the Transformer module. We perform extensive experiments on 4 real-world human mobility datasets, and the results show that our proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

The increasing demand for programmers has led to a surge in participants in programming courses, making it increasingly challenging for instructors to assess student code manually. As a result, automated programming assessment systems (APASs) have been developed to streamline this process. These APASs support lecturers by managing and evaluating student programming exercises at scale. However, these tools often do not provide feature-rich online editors compared to their traditional integrated development environments (IDEs) counterparts. This absence of key features, such as syntax highlighting and autocompletion, can negatively impact the learning experience, as these tools are crucial for effective coding practice. To address this gap, this research contributes to the field of programming education by extracting and defining requirements for an online IDE in an educational context and presenting a prototypical implementation of an open-source solution for a scalable and secure online IDE. The usability of the new online IDE was assessed using the technology Acceptance Model (TAM), gathering feedback from 27 first-year students through a structured survey. In addition to these qualitative insights, quantitative measures such as memory (RAM) usage were evaluated to determine the efficiency and scalability of the tool under varying usage conditions. In this paper, we introduce a new dataset for air conditioner refrigerant leak smoke detection, called ACRL-10K. The dataset is designed to develop algorithms for detecting refrigerant leak smoke faults during air conditioner recycling. It contains a total of 10, 724 images covering three common scenarios of air conditioner refrigerant leak: loading port, refrigerant extraction, and disassembly. All images are sourced from 656 video segments of real air conditioner recycling scenarios, captured by surveillance cameras deployed on an environmental company's recycling production line. The annotations for the refrigerant leak smoke in the images are performed by industry experts to ensure high accuracy and consistency. To the best of our knowledge, ACRL-10K is the first dataset specifically designed for refrigerant leak smoke detection. Based on the ACRL-10K dataset, we present the performance of mainstream object detectors, including the YOLO series, as a baseline to conduct the following work: 1) preliminarily summarize the challenges of using the dataset for refrigerant leak smoke detection;2) show the detection results of benchmark methods;and 3) make a comparison to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the baseline algorithms. In practice, the ACRL-10K dataset would hopefully advance research and applications in refrigerant leak early warning during air conditioner dismantling and recycling processes. © 2025 IEEE.

Implementation of a Real-Time Analysis Simulation System for Traffic Signal Control Algorithms to Reduce Vehicle Exhaust Emissions and Improve Traffic Flow

Traffic signal control (TSC) is a part of intelligent transportation systems to reduce traffic congestion and emissions. Recently, dynamic traffic signal control systems using artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning have been studied to achieve these goals. Although verification of TSC algorithms is ideally performed in a real environment, traffic simulation tools are widely used due to safety issues. However, existing simulation tools have limitations in real-time result analysis, making it difficult to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each algorithm according to each traffic situation. In this paper, we propose RTASS, a real-time analysis simulation system for TSC algorithms that enables real-time comparison and result analysis, to improve the problems of such a simulation environments. To validate RTASS, we experiment using actual intersection data. As a result of comparing the traffic volume of the actual intersection data and the simulation, we confirmed that the error rate was maintained within 2% on average. In addition, we evaluate the performance of each TSC algorithm using RTASS and verify the results by comparing two existing methods and two proposed TSC methods. We confirmed that real-time comparison of traffic analysis and algorithms is possible using the proposed simulation system. © 2013 IEEE.

Maternal health is among the greatest challenges in the world, especially in rural areas as there lack medical practitioners, they do not have easily accessible publics clinics and transport is difficult. Therefore, high rates of maternal as well as infant morbidity and mortalities are recorded. This research utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) with machine learning algorithms to forecast and address maternal health hazards right at their onset stage. The current research utilizes the concept of AI along with many Machine Learning (ML) methods like the Ensemble Learning Model (ELM), Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN), Decision-Tree (DT), XG-Boost (XGB), Cat Boost (CB), and Gradient Boosting (GB), along with Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) algorithm used for dealing with the problem class imbalance within the data set. SMOTE algorithm is utilized for the dataset balancing process. The handling system involves refining data preprocessing with the help of feature engineering and robust data cleaning which makes sure that anomalies do not erode the reliability of the predictive model. The existing methods [1] used RF (90%), DT (87%), XGB (85%), CB (86%), and GB (81%) algorithms and were compared with the accuracies of the proposed models like Logistic Regression (LR), Ensemble Learning Bagging (ELB), Ensemble Learning Stacking (ELS), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). The existing methods used only imbalance dataset. The accuracies of the proposed models with using SMOTE algorithm (balanced dataset) are LR (61.33%), KNN (81%), ELB (92.33%), ELS (90.66%) CNN (40.67%), RNN (59.67%), LSTM (54%), GRU (56%) respectively. Among these methods, ELB achieved 92.33% of accuracy with using SMOTE algorithm using imbalanced dataset. Whereas the accuracies of the proposed models without using SMOTE algorithm (imbalanced dataset) are LR (66.09%), KNN (68.47%)

Colorectal intraepithelial neoplasia is a precancerous lesion of colorectal cancer, which is mainly diagnosed using pathological images. According to the characteristics of lesions, precancerous lesions can be classified into four different grades, i.e., background, normal, low and high level. However, due to the continuity of lesion development, tissue in different stages has high similarity. Recently, visual transformers have achieved impressive results in different visual tasks, due to their capacity of capturing long-range dependencies. However, due to computational cost, transformer cannot well extract detailed feature, which is important for lesion grading. To accurately segment pathological tissues with high similarity, in this work, we embed the multi-head MLP mixer module in the transformer network to extract cell and edge information. Furthermore, we propose a hierarchical MLP decoder to facilitate multi-scale feature fusion. The proposed transformer, namely MLPFormer, achieves remarkable results against competitive baselines on the Histo-CRC Biopsy dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that MLPFormer significantly outperforms the competitive baselines, i.e., a 3% dice improvement is achieved over the SegFormer series. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.
