On Finite Word Length Computing Error of Fixed-Point SAR Imaging Processing*

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging system is generally realized by fixed-point with the purpose of reducing system implementation scale and enhancing real-time performance. Finite word length computing error of fixed-point SAR imaging system is studied. The characteristic of computing error in SAR imaging system is analyzed. A finite word length computing error model of SAR imaging system is built, by means of which the empirical formula of system's output noise-to-signal ratio is derived. Based on the empirical formula, SAR imaging system processing word length is presented according to different processing granularities. The validity of this proposed finite word length computing error model of SAR imaging system is verified by system level fixed-point simulation.

Marine aquaculture image segmentation plays a crucial role in managing aquatic resources and environmental protection. Traditional deep learning models rely on manual parameter tuning for image segmentation, which limits their efficiency and accuracy. This paper proposes an adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to optimize the parameters of the U-net model automatically. The algorithm dynamically adjusts the PSO parameters based on the population’s entropy and clustering metrics and employs a hill-climbing algorithm to address the issue of the PSO easily falling into local optima, enhancing the algorithm’s adaptability. The proposed algorithm updates and iterates particles to automatically find suitable model parameters. The remote sensing data used in this experiment were from the Yellow Sea aquaculture area near Dalian, China, with a segmentation accuracy of 91.8%. This method improves segmentation accuracy, reduces the burden of manual parameter tuning, and provides an effective solution for optimizing deep learning models.

The swift advancement of Location-Based Services (LBSs) raises the danger of trajectory privacy being breached, since the location semantic tags can easily disclose users' sensitive information. Additionally, attackers can exploit temporal correlations to infer sensitive personal information. This paper formulates a personalized semantic trajectory privacy protection framework designed to protect locations with varying sensitivities on the trajectory from the attacker with temporal correlation information. We model the trajectory privacy protection problem as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and introduce the Reinforcement Learning (RL) technique to dynamically adjust the privacy parameters. Specifically, we leverage the Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (TD3) algorithm to enhance the stability and accuracy of policy evaluation, enabling efficient learning of optimal policies in continuous action spaces. Simulation results indicate that the TD3-based personalized semantic trajectory privacy protection mechanism effectively balances the Quality of Service and semantic trajectory privacy while realizing personalized trajectory privacy protection.

To achieve low joint-angle drift and avoid mutual collision between dual redundant manipulators (DRMs) when they are doing collaboration works, a recurrent neural network based bicriteria repetitive motion collision avoidance (BRMCA) scheme is proposed for motion planning of DRMs. By designing a combined optimization objective encompassing both repetitive motion criterion and collision avoidance criterion, the BRMCA scheme has larger feasible region and less constraint contradiction issues compared with traditional inequality constraints based method. Furthermore, by incorporating velocity-level kinematic model and physical limits of DRMs into the scheme, a time varying quadratic programming (TVQP) problem is formulated. The linear variational inequality-based primal–dual neural network (LVI-PDNN) is used to solve the proposed scheme due to the high accuracy and low computation complexity. Finally, through comparison simulations of tracking Circle-shape and C-shape trajectories between BRMCA scheme and minimum velocity norm (MVN) scheme, it exhibits that the proposed BRMCA scheme can achieve low joint-angle drift, collision avoidance and high tracking accuracy when DRMs are doing cooperative tasks. © 2025 IEEE.

Incomplete multi-view clustering (IMVC) has garnered increasing attention in recent years due to the common issue of missing data in multi-view datasets. The primary approach to address this challenge involves recovering the missing views before applying conventional multi-view clustering methods. Although imputation-based IMVC methods have achieved significant improvements, they still encounter notable limitations: 1) heavy reliance on paired data for training the data recovery module, which is impractical in real scenarios with high missing data rates;2) the generated data often lacks diversity and discriminability, resulting in suboptimal clustering results. To address these shortcomings, we propose a novel IMVC method called Diffusion Contrastive Generation (DCG). Motivated by the consistency between the diffusion and clustering processes, DCG learns the distribution characteristics to enhance clustering by applying forward diffusion and reverse denoising processes to intra-view data. By performing contrastive learning on a limited set of paired multi-view samples, DCG can align the generated views with the real views, facilitating accurate recovery of views across arbitrary missing view scenarios. Additionally, DCG integrates instance-level and category-level interactive learning to exploit the consistent and complementary information available in multi-view data, achieving robust and end-to-end clustering. Resilient Cooperative control of Multiple DC Microgrids With Interconnection Networks Against Cyber Attacks

The two control objectives of voltage regulation and precise current sharing are conflicting in multi-bus DC microgrids. In this paper, a distributed control strategy is proposed, and it can achieve accurate current sharing and regulate the voltage of a critical node to the rated value. However, such a distributed control system is susceptible to potential cyber attacks that could deteriorate microgrids performances by corrupting communication links or actuators. To overcome these difficulties, we design the interconnected communication networks to establish a resilient cooperative system of multiple microgrids against unknown bounded injection attacks. The proposed resilient control strategy can achieve the control objectives of maintaining voltage regulation and current sharing within each microgrids under different operating conditions, and the interconnected system consisting of multiple microgrids cooperates to mitigate the adverse effect of cyber attacks. The dynamics and stability of the overall close-loop system of the DC microgrids are analyzed, in the present or absent of cyber attacks. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in two 4-bus DC microgrids. © 2023 IEEE.

The surge in smart device usage and the demand for high-throughput, low-latency mobile networks have accelerated the adoption of distributed smart applications and Collaborative Resource Management (CRM) techniques such as Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC). With its ability to handle large data volumes, computational demands, scalability, and high energy consumption, MEC represents the next generation of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC), addressing key challenges in emerging smart applications. MEC supports real-time, high-throughput, and energy-efficient techniques like task offloading and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). However, as these techniques become more widespread, their diversity increases, leading to complexities that make them harder to understand and validate in different applications. This includes their use in areas like assistance for unmanned vehicles (UVs), autonomous driving, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), high altitude platforms (HAPs), underwater unmanned vehicles (UUVs), satellite air-ground communication (SAGC), and other emerging systems that rely on Collaborative Resource Management (CRM). Although a number of review articles pertaining to MEC systems exist, we analyzed techniques beyond task offloading that explore MEC system applicability in diverse domains, including UUVs, vehicular edge computing, Re-configurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Massive MIMO, autonomous driving, HAPs, and SAGC. From the perspective of these optimization techniques, this article highlights their role in shaping MEC’s evolution, focusing on parameters such as real-time response, energy efficiency, and other critical factors in task offloading processes. We also explored the role of Standard Development Organizations (SDOs), such as ETSI and IEEE, in advancing MEC systems. Cloud computing has revolutionized the provisioning of computing resources, offering scalable, flexible, and on-demand services to meet the diverse requirements of modern applications. At the heart of efficient cloud operations are job scheduling and resource management, which are critical for optimizing system performance and ensuring timely and cost-effective service delivery. However, the dynamic and heterogeneous nature of cloud environments presents significant challenges for these tasks, as workloads and resource availability can fluctuate unpredictably. Traditional approaches, including heuristic and meta-heuristic algorithms, often struggle to adapt to these real-time changes due to their reliance on static models or predefined rules. Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) has emerged as a promising solution to these challenges by enabling systems to learn and adapt policies based on continuous observations of the environment, facilitating intelligent and responsive decision-making. This survey provides a comprehensive review of DRL-based algorithms for job scheduling and resource management in cloud computing, analyzing their methodologies, performance metrics, and practical applications. We also highlight emerging trends and future research directions, offering valuable insights into leveraging DRL to advance both job scheduling and resource management in cloud computing. © 2025, CC BY.

Analysis of Acoustic Emission Signals from SiC MOSFETs Using Robust Local Mean Decomposition and Generalized S-Transform

Power modules are the most vulnerable components in power electronic systems. It is essential to conduct fault diagnosis and implement protections on power modules to prevent further damage to the system. Existing methods primarily identify faults in power modules through electrical, magnetic, and junction temperature parameters. However, research on the application of acoustic emission (AE) method to monitor power modules is still limited. This article proposes a scheme that leverages the intrinsic relationship between AE signals and the switching states of SiC MOSFETs. The robust local mean decomposition (RLMD) and the generalized S-transform (GST) are introduced. The feasibility and superiority of these methods are initially validated through numerical simulations. Experimental investigations are conducted by a double pulse platform for SiC MOSFETs. The model between time-frequency characteristics of AE signals and external electrical parameters is established under normal conditions. By comparing the Rényi entropy of AE signals from SiC MOSFETs under normal and faulty conditions, which differ by approximately three times, it is demonstrated that Rényi entropy can be used to identify faults. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Since the successful Apollo program, humanity is once again aiming to return to the Moon for scientific discovery, resource mining, and inhabitation. Upcoming decades focus on building a lunar outpost, with robotic systems playing a crucial role to safely and efficiently establish essential infrastructure such as solar power generating towers. Similar to the construction of the International Space Station (ISS), shipping necessary components via modules and assembling them in situ should be a practical scenario. In this context, this paper focuses on the integration of vision, control, and hardware systems within an autonomous sequence for a dual-arm robot system. We explore a perception and control pipeline specifically designed for assembling solar panel modules, one of the benchmark tasks. Ad hoc hardware was designed and tested in real-world experiments. A mock-up of modular solar panels and active-passive connectors are employed, with the control of this grappling fixture integrated into the proposed pipeline. The successful implementation of our method demonstrates that the two robot manipulators can effectively connect arbitrarily placed panels, highlighting the seamless integration of vision, control, and hardware systems in complex space applications.
